The best experience of your life...that you never want to repeat
weesh replied to weesh's topic in General Discussion
yeah, high school was really good, but the thought of going back is pretty horrifying. ideally, each five year period of my life trumps the previous 5 from here on out... -
I'd prefer to fix than to remove. But Newbie Dash and MMDW are on the short list. Newbie dash because they justified the hazing. MMDW because her friends decided that humiliating dash was a good solution to the problem, and the insanity of that was never addressed. Bats was horrifying, but it at least responded to how bad an idea it was in the end.

Would you (have you) go to your high school reunion?
weesh replied to Miss's topic in General Discussion
doesn't everyone wear nametags? everyone changes a ton. seems like it would be asking a lot to expect everyone to recognize each other -
Would you (have you) go to your high school reunion?
weesh replied to Miss's topic in General Discussion
sure, I'd go...if it was closer than 1000 miles. i wasn't popular, but high school was a good experience, and I went to a good school. but its really not worth the time and money it would take to get from texas to michigan also, i have good self-esteem, so i could go and be myself. i'm at 12 years and counting. i dont' see myself living in michigan for the 20th though -
Would you strip down naked if you went to Equestria?

at my brony club, we played a ponified version of "what were you thinking", and the way we made it, it was a very challenging game. after about 75 minutes of playing, I was doing better than most with 4 total matches! the matches were so rare and hard to get that i jumped up and reached across the table for a fistbump everytime it did.

movies/tv What shows have been good for the longest time?
weesh replied to Oleks's topic in Media Discussion
The only show that I've liked from premier to finale was House. 8 high quality seasons. every other strong show that I've watched was inconsistently good, or tailed off at some point. I thought West Wing was going to be that caliber of a show, but WOW did it tank. -
Will mlp become one day one of your most beautiful memories?
weesh replied to leonbrony17's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I think people underestimate how much they will change in 10 years. you will be a totally different person in 10 years. even if you are 50, a decade is a lot. there will be some lovely community memories, but I'd hesitate to suggest that it's going to trump all the things that are coming up in my life. -
Tell us an experience that you was very valuable to you, but, for whatever reason, you are glad is in your past. I used to say "college was the best 5 years of my life that I never want to repeat". But now, it seems my time in Alaska is the new best 5 years of my life that I never want to repeat. There were really good activities and relationships in Alaska, but it was just too dark in the winter. Of course, it could be something much shorter. I could imagine a marathon being something that was fantastic to finish, but a bit too painful to ever want to do again. It could even be a negative experience that bore good fruit, like if breaking your leg caused you to meet your future spouse.

I think people should take shoes off, and that they should respect homeowners that don't want shoes worn in their house, cause it is kinda gross. that said, I don't ask my guests to remove their shoes, because I'm less worried about the every-other week visitors than i am about my own daily treking in of dirt.

the world seems INUNDATED with valuable materials. more gold and gems than you can shake a stick at. I would suggest that the bits don't have intrinsic value, but have value because ponies BELIEVE that they have value, just like Americans believe their cotton paper money has value, even though it isn't backed by gold or anything else. Given that the state of equestrian finances seems to be really good, I'd suggest that the COULDN'T have some standard backing their currency, because such systems' economies are limited by that standard, and can't grow and thrive past a certain point. they could very well be made of gold, but that may only be because gold is a good material to make currency out of because it doesn't rust or tarnish. it might have been selected because its a plentiful and useful material to make beautiful looking currency out of. As far as counterfeiting goes, if the economy is strong, and you don't NEED to counterfeit to meet your daily needs, it will go down. Furthermore, fine craftsmanship, and difficult processing could serve as a deterrent in the same way that modern countries deter counterfeiting by making it difficult. this occurred to me as well, as that is what I thought this thread would be about. I'd suggest it was an intentional pun, if perhaps a bit stealthy.

I think that's because you are not looking hard enough. every single episode has a poll, and they are overwhelmingly positive for this season. The majority liked it. Yeah, there are some opponents with legitimate gripes, but its unfair to say "mixed reviews" when the majority thinks each individual episode was between good and great.

it's shocking to me that you guys think that every job in a this huge company is going to be tedious and boring, and overshadowed by corporate culture. Wizards of the coast was a small company acquired by hasbro, and you know what changed? basically, they had to change a few ways that they interacted with the public. for instance, the head designer's twitter account now has "#wotcstaff" as a tag under each post. Big companies are cool, because they have so much going for them. want to change thigns up? move to a different toy or department or subsidiary. They have web developers, accountants, a plethora of creative types, managers, etc. Yes, SOME corporations struggle to maintain a family feel, but not all do. I've worked for a company with 80k employees. one with 55k employees, and another with 70. one of the big companies was horrible, the other has felt in many ways similar in feel to the 70 person company. Would you believe, that in the exact same field, I have FEWER bullshit meetings in the 55k company than in the 70 person company? If you draw a line in the sand and refuse to work for a company solely based on the size, you might miss out on a great opportunity. And I think corporations are getting better at it too. Many use the rule of 150 and make sure that you interact with no more than 150 people, so that you can get to recognize them all. need more employees? build a new building across the street to keep the two groups segregated. Also, working for a small company isn't free of problems either. You can rapidly run out of advancement opportunities, or a lost project can be a catastrophe, when a big company can afford losses that would sink a smaller one. I've talked with people that worked under the Hasbro umbrella, and they have made it clear that the company still feels more like a family than a machine.
