  1. Yes. It could just be a bad slice of silicon. The reason it does that with the video card is because the video bios loads before the motherboard bios, which enables you to configure your motherboard settings. It's really hard to tell without an extra CPU but as that is what the POST code is, I'd start with that and go from there.
  2. "There are no such things as facts" which is usually said with "science only proves what doesn't work" The problem with part A is that it assumes that facts can't exist because accuracy and precision will never be 100%. Fine, no problem there. However time is assumed infinite and as such while we can't know the population of "broken knee = pain," we can accept this as fact as everyone whose had a broken knee thus far has unanimously decided that there was pain at some point during the healing process. Part B ties in with part A in that time is assumed infinite. Because "science only proves what doesn't work," at some point in the future, everything that doesn't work will be weeded out. So what do we call that which does work? Furthermore, how could science or any other form of study prove anything at that point? How are there no such things as facts with the sole exception of that one fact that says "There are no such things as facts?" It's paradoxial and serves no purpose other than smoke screening. Going on a tanget here, this line of thinking is in direct conflict with determinism as determinism would require prediction with 100% accuracy in order to prove true. Edit: Grammtical errors
  3. Michiru Yamane who was behind the OST for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Rom Di Prisco who was behind Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit and most likely others as well And of course, Frank Klepacki who was behind most of the C&C franchise. Frank and Rom both have some non vg music that is pretty good as well. Don't forget about Supreme Commander. Absoultely brilliant OST.
  4. Hate to say it, but your CPU is probably defective. Because its an Athlon, there aren't any on-die graphics. So when you put your GPU in, the POST was able to initialize and test the CPU. The reason it doesn't beep when there is no CPU in the socket is because there aren't any error codes for not having a CPU for your particular UEFI. At least that's what a quick google pulled up. I'd get in contact with AMD and go from there.
  5. Burgers: Five Guys. Wendy's is good but they have an obsession with mayo I need not understand and McD's are only good in the sense that they're so bad they do a full circle type thing and are somehow good. Fries: Wendy's. Love their new (now old) fries. Chicken: Roy Rogers. If only they were still around where I live. It's the only restuarant I know of where fried chicken and a roast beef sandwich were ordered at the same drive through. Salad: N/A as no fast food joint serves Chef's Salad Other sides: Burger King as I like their onion rings Overall: Sonic as they have everything and their limeade is awesome. Too bad they aren't close to where I live.
  6. Jeff Goldblum obviously. Joking aside, the scortched earth approach would work. Maybe we could weaponize a few particle accelerators. However, I'd argue that aliens willing to attack a planet for resources when that planet is surrounded by asteroids, other uninhabited planets and the entirety of the keiper belt a.k.a. easypickings are pretty frickin' dumb. Maybe our standard armaments would be enough. Now, if this invasion was for political reasons, then we'd probably have the technology to deal with it. Edit: Yeah, I can't read. Carry on.
  7. Dino Crisis could use a revival seeing as how that game was more actiony than survival horror and Res Evil could finally die the death it should have with 5. What I would single handedly buy a PS4 for though is a triumphant return of my beloved "Jumping Flash!" It's a 3D FPS platformer that launched with the playstation. It's a little clunky control wise but works decently enough not to be annoying. It's colorful, absurd, odd, genuinely fun and is one of those games I play to remind myself that for all of the gray brown loads of bloom vomit spewing out of the industry, gaming is still fun. It did have one sequel and then the series pretty much died.
  8. As mentioned above, the sane option is JBOD. I very much doubt you'd want any level of RAID array with 2 different capacity drives.
  9. I got one. Its absurd yet awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcI4OfU3-Oc And just in case that isn't quite enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHQOfbHsSF0
  10. Hyperthreading can decrease performance because of thread thrashing. It's when 2 tasks compete for cache and other cpu resources. This is a rather trivial issue now adays with large cache sizes and some games such as battlefield benefit from hyperthreading. Edit: I would wait for the 8xx series on the gpu side to see what maxwell brings. In terms of CPU, you won't see a decent gain unless you either wait for Skylake or do enough multithread stuff to make the E series worth it.
  11. A lot of game franchises need to die. I agree with all of the ones you said but would broaden Call of Duty to the entire MMS subgenre of FPS games. With the sole exception of ARMA. I've never played ARMA but an MMS that actually strives for the realistic military part to the point of using real life tactics deserves a pass in my book. I would add Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid to that list as well. Castlevania is about as old as Mario and killing dracula with a whip gets old really fast. Metal Gear Solid... Is there even a storyline at this point? Elder Scrolls Online needs to die as well. I like the idea of playing with friends but it should be done from a menu in a single player game. One would think the sales numbers on Skyrim would be an excellent indicator for the love of a singleplayer RPG but alas it was not to be.
  12. Yahtzee just did a video about the wii u in the latest Zelda review. I'm not sure why it's called a Zelda review but whatever. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/8789-The-Legend-of-Zelda-A-Link-Between-Worlds
  13. Two hour delay and the other professor won't be in today. Jackpot.

  14. Hypocrisy, narcissism, blatant and irreversible stubbornness & disrespectful discourse regardless of the people involved ought to cover everything.
  15. My favorite as of yet: FTL has a good soundtrack in general and this is the icing on the destroyed flagship cake. The most nostalgic:
  16. Europa. A. It could have life in its ocean. B. It's the new earth the Monoliths' create when they turn Jupiter into a star.
  17. It depends really. There's the "trolls" that don't actually troll and just rustle jimmies due to an unhealthy obsession with jimmies. Then there are the David Thorne's of the world; always brilliant and tactful in their trolling.
  18. If only Coca-Cola did something similar before that we could all point to and see how far we've yet to go. Oh, they did? Good.
  19. People who make arguments without any evidence. Also people who define themselves by creed or "gender" or nationality or beliefs or anything like that. It's not that it makes you a bad person, it just tells me you're incredibly boring and don't have much to say. OOoo you're Irish or American or whatever, got anything else? 'Cause I don't care.
  20. I learned that 1. My CPU in my laptop @ 1.8GHz running Circuit maker under WINE is at least 16 percent faster at calculating the sim than a 3 GHz Pentium 4 doing the same calculations under windows 7. 2. Circuit maker is rubbish. 3. Sputnik was rubbish even for its time. All sputnik did was turn a radio transmitter on and off. Explorer had instrumentation on board. Today was mostly labs so nothing new was really taught. And something I've learned from a textbook completely unrelated to school is that comb filtering consists of an audio source and competing reflections that result in peaks and nulls in the audio spectrum. Moving your head even an inch while listening to a loud speaker can have a drastic affect on audio fidelity. I also learned that the speakers you use are more often than not the most damaging device in the playback system.
  21. Heard this on my drive this morning and it hasn't left since.
  22. I played that game quite a bit. I never liked the racing that much as the AI was very rubber bandy but crash... Oh how I miss thee.
  23. Buying cheap. I don't care what it is. If you can afford to buy the item in the first place, buy something that will last unless you really hate having disposable income.
  24. Whatever by 1440 won't be replacing anything. True 4k (4096x2160) probably won't either. Realistically speaking the next "jump" will probably be 8k (most likely 7680 × 4320 for aspect ratio compatibility) with display link as the interface. DVI is old and busted and HDMI is rubbish to begin with. This is all progressive scan btw. I would be the farm on interlacing being phased out by the time 4k is "popular."
  25. Most Popular Genre (Genre with most songs for): Progressive Most Popular Artist (Artist with most songs): Pink Floyd but most of it is single track album rips Longest Song: 1st Movement by Shawn Lane and Jonas Hellborg @ 32:18 Shortest Song: The Seatbelts - Vitamin C @ 0:06 Edit: I hate metadata so much.
