Four tens is far better but not an option in IT too often unfortunately. I'd rather do the eight hour days from home. Much more convenient.

Your favourite video game(s)?
The Historian replied to Hailcanuseacomputer's topic in Media Discussion
The top game of all time for me is A Link to the Past. Easily the best Zelda game in the franchise. But there are others that come really close like Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6. But also Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64... you know, I could list hundreds of console and PC games that I really like. -
Unfortunately, the last thing I googled is inappropriate for this place. woops. :p

Do you think Fluttershy is an attractive pony?

If you had stopped at "I prefer not to do it," I don't think it would have gone anywhere. Your phrasing wasn't exactly benevolent and was a bit... negative towards those who are fine with emulation.

technology How many wallpapers do you have?
The Historian replied to Tom Snyder's topic in Media Discussion
I use DisplayFusion so I can have loads of sets of wallpapers. Sometimes... it's hard only picking three. Cause... I got three screens. xD -
Why do some cultures glorify death?
The Historian replied to heavens-champion's topic in General Discussion
From someone who's been suicidal, it can be a way to release all mortal pain and cease the agony within. Though, I don't think this is what you mean. I'm going to say you're probably referring to warrior culture where dying in battle is highest glory one can achieve. There is much to be said about that mindset. It comes from a place of pride in knowing that you did your duty and perished doing what you believed was right. There is also reverence for the dead, which is a part of Mexican culture, among many others of course. It's more remembrance than glorification. Few cultures, outside of warrior cultures, have genuinely glorified the idea of dying or death. -
I would much rather read Dune as a book than on a tablet. Reading a book on a tablet just feels wrong.

What other fandoms are you a part of?
The Historian replied to TheRealUsername's topic in General Discussion
This and being a furry are the only "fandoms" I'm part of. I am, however, still part of the Command & Conquer community... albeit far less so than I used to be. -
What is the worst damage that has been caused to your home?
The Historian replied to Hbk4894's topic in General Discussion
I got blasted by a tornado during the early March 2017 tornado outbreak. It didn't pass directly overhead thankfully, but the roof... well... it did not fare well. Down to the bare wood. -
What sort of things have people made fun of you for?
The Historian replied to Moonlight's topic in General Discussion
Fortunately, I'm waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy past the phase in life where this was a constant but I got it incessantly during elementary and middle school years. High school was fine, thank Celestia. Anyhow, I got it for anything and everything. If there's an aspect to yourself you can think of, I got blasted for it. Wrong clothes, wearing glasses, not cool enough shoes, no friends, lame friends when I got a few, reading, not being an idiot, being able to answer questions the teacher had, not being good at sports, not liking the right music, my last name... the list is functionally endless. I still hold a great deal of animosity towards anyone who bullied me. No, I won't "get over it." >.>- 242 replies

Do you have bad attitude towards vegans as people?
The Historian replied to SunshineFlow's topic in General Discussion
I don't really care as long as they're not trying to foist their nonsense onto everyone else. The faux moral crusader vegans who chastise anyone and everyone for not being like them are infuriatingly obnoxious and I want to punch them in the face. But not cause they're vegan. No, no. It's because they're jackasses. -
Considering the whole "being trans" thing, my name will eventually change. And it will be Marisa. Eventually... sometime this year...

Most games made for the bygone eras can be done in a few hours. Plowed through many in the same sitting, though I generally don't. I like do a 100% run of Link to the Past in one sitting every couple of years. A lot of new games are easy to complete in only a few hours. It's only disappointing if the game sucks. So far, I've had good luck on that front.

I have emulated as far back as Odyssey 2 and as current as WiiU. Takes a lot of time and effort to really make it work properly. Most of the time, I do it for simple convenience. Acquiring the hardware is generally cost prohibitive, especially in some areas. Looking at you TG16 and NeoGeo. I already collect PC-based games, I don't have the capital to buy genuine articles for things I want to play for every console generation. Emulation gives you, functionally, the same experience if you're talking about a console with a controller. I have enough space to house thousands of ROMs and disc/disk images, which I current have roughly 1100 spread across... oh... 45 different game platforms. All of that is hooked into the EmulationStation frontend that I control with an Xbox One controller. Hard to beat amount of convenience. xD

movies/tv Movies that you hate, but everyone else loves
The Historian replied to Leere's topic in Media Discussion
Avatar. So boring and dull. That was just Dances with Wolves in space. And Dances with Wolves is incredible. -
It's going to be a toss between Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Yuyu Hakusho for me. I am also quite partial to Detective Conan and Lupin the Third (Red Jacket Series). Oh, and of course Dragonball anything. I don't watch too much anymore.

Sacrificed Sons is a really underrated Dream Theater song...

What's your largest collection?
The Historian replied to Lady Rarity Pony's topic in General Discussion
PC games, primarily big box but I have some small box and DVD box games. I'm probably around... 250 to 350 games. I have them everywhere in my basement. In boxes, on tables, on shelves... all over.- 237 replies

Been theorized since I was a kid that I likely have Asperger's but it's never been officially diagnosed. Something I really need to do.

I don't work in retail but I work for a point of sale software company in the support department. More than once, customers have yelled and screamed, acted like jackasses and flat refused to listen to anyone in tech. There's one customer, however, who is a passive aggressive twat on email but lacks any balls so he doesn't act like a jerk over the phone. I run the ecom department for my side and I was helping said customer on an ecommerce issue. This customer likes to whine incessantly about the software I support, calling it "immature" or some other such insult. His complaint was that ecommerce orders created a billing and shipping contact for an in-store customer, even when they were identical and he asked about a cleanup. I told him that wasn't really as easy as he wanted and I could end up deleting things he wanted to keep. When I told him that, he came unglued. He replied with a long tirade about how terrible we are, how awful our product is and how immature and amateur our product is. I didn't dignify him with a response. The other things that happen are the misogynist customers we've got. There are a small few who just refuse to work with women. And no, it's not men who act like this - it's primarily women! There's some other things. Oh right, like the time I had a customer threaten to sue the company because he didn't use our Magento integration properly, or the time we had to sue a customer. Good times in the world of retail support.
