Good pick! Wonderbolt Academy is definitely up there in my favorites as well but I feel that Sonic Rainboom edges it out by a small margin.

Wonderbolt Academy is one of my favorite Rainbow Dash episodes. It was good to see a new character introduced to us, and seeing Rainbow Dash in one of her shining moments.

Read It And Weep and Sleepless in Ponyville, come up at bat and they hit another home run. :D

Also, Testing, Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3, is also a favorite of mine. Got to love Rainbow Dash finding another way to study in her own way.

1. Testing, Testing, 123 - This episode handled a mature concept very well. Not much to say about it other than it's a must watch

2. Rainbow Falls - The most underrated episode in MLP. I loved the Wonderbolts, Derpy, the story, and the other supporting character's antics. There were a few flaws, but overall this was a very enjoyable episode.

3. Wonderbolt Academy - This episode really matured Rainbow Dash and make me gain some appreciation for her character.

All of them are best Dashie episode. xD  I actually consider some episodes where she shares the spotlight to be hers as well lol.  "Sleepless in Ponyville," for example - still a Dash episode, to me.  "Hurricane Fluttershy" had a lot of great moments for her; it was as much about RD supporting FS and ultimately focusing on what was important as it was about FS facing a challenge.  But...  Best Dashie-centric episode??

I can't choose between: Sonic Rainboom, Read It and Weep, and Wonderbolts Academy.  I'd like to make a best episodes sandwich, if I could lol.

"Wonderbolts Academy" was the one Rainbow Dash episode that really did the most to further Dashie's character by having her basically confront her perceived past self and a difficult choice: to give up her lifelong dream that she has come this close to attaining, or to stick to what she believes is morally right by protecting the safety of others. It's a test in loyalty that would have been worthy of a key episode had it been done in Season 4, but that's an issue for another day.

"Hurricane Fluttershy" is by far Rainbow Dash's best supporting role in the series. Emphasis on supporting. Rainbow Dash is forced to slow down that hard, competitive attitude to help give Fluttershy the confidence to fly with them, learning the importance that every little bit counts. Despite it not being one of her focus episodes, I'd put this as the best portrayal of Rainbow Dash in the series and one of my favorite episodes, and my definite favorite episode of Season 2.

I wouldn't name "Sonic Rainboom" an all-time favorite, but it was one of the first episodes of the show that I ever watched and is still one of the best of Season 1. It gave Rainbow Dash a definitive character flaw in her stage fright and confidence issues, one that we probably wouldn't have expected out of a character like this. After seeing "Hurricane Fluttershy" and "Testing, Testing, 1-2-3", this really adds another layer to those episodes, seeing that she has dealt with the respective stage fright and confidence issues before.

"Testing, Testing, 1-2-3" is notable to me for its moral more than its portrayal of Rainbow Dash, however that wasn't entirely lacking; it only was for the first couple of acts that Rainbow Dash acts like nothing more than a bored prankster playing the blame game. She shows more of her character when she gets bitten by the low-confidence bug late in the second act which leads to the resolution, by way of Twilight exploiting a skill of hers. Using a skill you have really does seem to be the best antidote to a self-confidence issue, I could tell coming from this situation in real life, and it's extra special to have it in the same episode with such an important moral as not losing confidence if you learn differently from others.

If you're focusing on standalone episodes, it's Wonderbolts Academy. (Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 is better than WA, but Dash and Twilight share the main role equally.) Dash's characterization is balanced incredibly throughout by highlighting her cockiness, tenacity, and lessons from the rest of the series, including Mare Do Well and Sonic Rainboom. She showed an evolution to her character by being very apprehensive to Lightning Dust's recklessness, doubtful of Dust's reckless ideas, and willingness to sacrifice her lifelong dream because they went against her morale.

The Mysterious Mare Do Well is the best "Dash is crazy flawed as heck but she can get better" episode, showing her at possibly her lowest, and how easily a hero can fall when they become increasingly attached to the fanfare and glory of heroics rather than doing it purely for others, like she was doing in the beginning of the episode.

Read it and Weep is the best "Holy hnnnnnggggggg    Rainbow Dash is a cute cuddly injured nerd step up your adorkable game Twilight" episode, showing how quickly and passionately she can get into an interest, and also her finally embracing something she might've been pushing away due to her troubles with school. It also showed that she's an incredibly silly horse.

Here one can see Rainbow Dash attempting to act on one of her natural instincts; to destroy all appliances.

Bridges are overrated anyway :squee:

Hurricane Fluttershy is the best "Omigosh can Rainbow Dash be my best friend please  :yay: ? ", episode and here you can really see some of the maturity and kindness she's learned from the pitfalls earlier in Season 2, putting in possibly her best performance in the entire series, and in a supporting role. Here you can see her skill at leadership, her genuine desire to see others succeed, her prioritizing getting the job done over competition and glory, and a welcome dose of sensitivity and sweetness.

Sleepless in Ponyville is the best "Omigosh can Rainbow Dash be my big sister too  ?" episode. More of that sweetness from Hurricane Fluttershy, more of her being a silly pony around the campfire, and just being awesome. It's a big responsibility, taking a little excitable kid in need of a role model under your wing, but Rainbow Dash was more than willing to take on that role once Scoots showed that she wanted it. This element of loyalty ain't scared of commitment.

Wonderbolt Academy is the most satisfying episode, Merriwether coming full circle to show Dash at her very best. Competitive? Check. Unsure of herself? Check. Torn between her dreams and doing the right thing? Check. This episode hit most all of Dash's biggest flaws, and had her triumph over each one of them. Integrity over glory, caution over awesome, Rainbow Dash is a great pony.

And Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 is just an awesome episode all around. It feels like a supporting role too in a since, because Dash is only part of what makes this episode so super, but it still managed to mix up a healthy blend of silliness and seriousness. Dash is a really silly pony, but she's also a pony who has had trouble learning her entire life and you can't avoid dealing with your problems forever. It was very satisfying indeed to see her overcome all her doubts and assumptions about hersell.

So yeah, I have trouble picking a clear favorite because so many add so much in so many different ways. I might go with Wonderbolt Academy as the best "Rainbow Dash episode" if I were forced to choose, though I consider Hurricane Fluttershy, Sleepless, and Testing Testing to be better episodes overall.

My personal favorite is "Read it and Weep it".

My second favorite is "Wonder Bolt Academy", but I just feel like that episode has a rather serious tone.

Wonderbolts Academy. Great characterisation and development from Rainbow Dash, Lightning Dust is interesting and is just a rather mature episode overall. c:

I also sort of like Rainbow Falls, even if I am well aware of all of the flaws in that episode. I honestly don't know why I like that episode, really. :P

Hmm, I liked Read It and Weep a lot, but I'm probably alone on that.

I liked the Daring Do moments, and I thought it was a funny episode. RD got good character development too.

You aren't alone! Great ep if just for the cute RD snore and Nom Nom! Love the whole lesson and reading angle of the episode.

I want to say Sleepless in Ponyville, but I see that as a Scootaloo episode first. I live how RD was depicted in it. Same with Flight to the Finish. When Dash chastised the other two CMC characters for abandoning her friend, and left herself to get Scootaloo ... nice.

All told, Wonderbolts Academy is the best solo outing for Rainbow Dash.
