How and when did you become a brony?

It's kind of a weird story of how I became a brony. During school one day, I had left my binder in one of my classes, when I went to get it, someone had drawn RD's cutiemark and wrote 'Rainbow Dash was here'. My natural curiostiy led me to mlp:fim. At first I was skeptical, but as I started to watch the show, the more I realized that I liked it. I then started to check out all of the cool fan stuff about it, the art, songs, fanfics, etc. and it all leads to today:)

Mine was that my friends all talked about it, and I started seeing pony art pouring into deviantart. That's where my curiosity got the best of me and I checked out the first episode on youtube. I spent the rest of the weekend watching it!

I have already told mine on other threads, but I don't mind sharing again. I first became aware of Friendship is Magic through 3DS Forums. I noticed mambers started changing to My Little Pony avatars. I thought it was strange, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I eventually started seeing fan art and comics, and became a little curious. Then someone on the forum told me the show was pretty good, and made by Lauren Faust, one of the creators of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's. That is when I decided to try it. I started with episode 1 on youtube. Next thing I knew, I was halfway through season one. I searched the web, and found some Brony sites like derpyhooves.com and, through that, Equestria Daily. I think Cutie Mark Chronicles was the first episode I saw premiere. I found out that some of the members of 3DS Forums was starting a MLP Forums, and was invited to join. I have been here ever since.

I have not posted here in about 2 months. No welcome-back party needed, not that anyone really noticed I was gone.

 

It all started for me in the Minecraft forums, back when I was an avid poster there. I had begun to notice more and more people with ponies as their avatars, and eventually saw one guy who had a link to the MLP thread in his signature. Having thankfully been spared of any exposure to the horrors of G<4, I was willing enough to give it a shot.

 

My first impressions of the pilot were, "Meh. It's really nothing special."

 

Still, there was something oddly charming about the show. I watched episode 3 and realized "I could really get into this!" So I watched my way through Season 1, and finished just in time for the finale.

How I saw my first episode is I fell asleep watching Batman on the Hub and when I woke up MLP was on (it was episode one of season two). I was too tired to get up and do something else or to even find the remote. So, I ended up watching the episode and I realized the show wasn't bad. After the initial shock which lasted about two weeks, I stared watching just to freak out my friends. About ten episodes in I had an epiphany, I was really liked the the show, and I was hooked from then on. XD

I don't know exactly when I "became a brony". It definitely wasn't a sudden one-tick occurrence, it was gradual. I began seeing pony avatars, reaction images, forum threads and other things around the net, and decided to research what the source of all this was. So I thought I'd try watching a few episodes (yay for direct research) and I loved it. The rest is history.

I watched a bit of the show while I was bored one day and found myself watching them more and more over time. The "final blow," as it were, was after I read My Little Dashie. My mind was blown by the sheer quality of writing and inspired me to write my own stories.

I saw MLP in an odd form originally. I kept seeing my favorite characters pony'd and then my favorite comic and animation artists in my Trauma Center group on DeviantART admitted they were bronies...I watched KnowYourMeme deciding that was all I needed...I listened to Equestria Girls after and thought it was cute but nothing I would ever watch...When the Hub started showing stuff on Demand I only watched part of episode one and said and I quote: "What a piece of crap..." A year later I asked a question to all the Bronies of just one word: "Why?" And got: "Give it a shot you never know."

 

Decided they were right I hadn't really given ep one a chance after Nightmare Moon's appearence and really gave it a chance...I watched three episodes in one go and I asked in the comments: "I'm almost sixteen...Why can't I stop watching this?" After I admitted it...Now I'm on ep 21. HASBRO STOP TAKING THE EPISODES DOWN!

I remember it was October of last year... I only had to wait a few days after finishing season 1 for season 2!

 

I joined the herd of my own free will... No-one I knew told me to give it a shot, I was just curious to see whether this new MLP had anything in it... and it did!

I don't remember exactly WHEN I became a brony...

I just know one day a troll friend of mine (who isn't even a brony) decided to spam me with tons of links to youtube videos.

Being the manly man I was, I of course deleted them all.

 

He sent more.

 

I just waited until he tired of trolling and stopped sending them to me, then I went and started deleting them all. I almost didn't become a brony...but my mouse slipped on the very last one and I clicked the link by mistake.

 

Well, you know how it goes...after I got converted I began digging up every single deleted pony link in my trash folder, restoring them, watching them, and then commenting back

 

And the counter-trolls won that day.

saw the kym episode, read the article, decided "why not?" found the 9.5 hour vid on youtube of season one (found an episode that was missing the other day) and watched season one the 18th of this past december, all of what was out of season two the next day. took 22 minutes to find out this was easily one of the best shows i'd seen in a while, another couple hours to realize this was the best show i'd seen in a decade, and likely before even then...

 

then at granny's house for christmas my two brothers, my uncle and i are talking when my oldest brother makes some pony joke (not having a clue lol) and when i say "the new show is actually really damned good" all three slowly turn and stare, "whatch the first episode and THEN decide how stupid it really is *trollface*" no known conversions but it did shut them up

It was early December of 2011.

Was playing Minecraft with my internet buddies, and one of them was talking about Fluttershy.

I was like, "teh frick is fluttershy", so I Youtube'd it.

 

The very first pony video I ever saw was Fluttershy going like "SQUEE", and I was like, o.O... more..

I kept watching "the best of <pony>" videos, and I decided to watch the first episode.

Curious for finding out if they found the elements of harmony, I watched the second half right after.

 

NightMareMoon was so majestic and awesome.. I loved her, and she is what got me into the show.

Somehow, she was the pony who captured me.

 

I watched more episodes, gaining more respect for each pony along the way.

 

I declared myself a brony after finishing season 1.

I became a brony before I even know I was a brony. I found the show through Tumblr, watched the whole first season on Youtube before it was taken down and it kind of went from there... I started calling myself a brony a few months ago but otherwise I can't really pin-point it! I don't think there's anything I don't like about the show. C:
