general Brony career/job thread

Just starting a new career as an over the road, long haul truck driver.  Pays surprisingly well, plus I love long distance driving and listening to music, so it should fit.  I've been a bit of everything so far in my life, but I have always gravitated towards vehicle and mechanically related professions.  Auto mechanic, diesel mechanic, and tool salesman were my most proficient careers, and adding truck driving will basically match me up with my OC, so away I go!!

Howdy. I was thinking just curious...what do all of you do? As much as it'd be nice to get paid to watch My Little Pony, it's not happening...right? So what do you do for a job or career. Even side jobs.

My career:

Former theatre teacher. Stayed at home after daughter borm. Looking to get another job in this next school year. Although I'm open for a career change.

Voice actor, on-camera...but not where in my career I want to be and don't know how long I can push for it.

Side jobs:

ebay flipper, occasional mturker, just signed up for TaskRabbit.

Dream one day jobs:

Bar owner, child play place, real estate flipper.

I hope you guys feel comfortable enough to share and we can learn about what we do between episodes of Friendship Is Magic.

Oh, I'm glad I found this thread. I was about to make it myself if I couldn't find it.

Right now, I drive delivery for a chinese food place.

Dream job, I'd love to race cars. That would be the coolest thing but I think its gonna have to be put on the back burner for a while until I have the means to afford getting into it

I'm going to college now to try to obtain a major, and I'm not sure in what. I'm thinking just a generic engineering degree for now.

Bwhahahahahaaaaaaaa!

Okay, here we go....

I've been a math teacher (grade 7), sold computers in retail back when personal computers was still a new concept, a chemical engineer working in oil refineries, cyanide factories, and water treatment facilities, and an architect (remodelling).

I've worked as a rough carpenter, apprenticed as an electrician, and I've made custom furniture and cabinetry. I've also worked as a line cook in a catering company, have rehabilitated rescued dogs, and spent some time as a junior curator at a local museum.

I've had a few stints on the stage as an actor, mostly as third barbarian from the left. You can see my back in at least one music video, and a couple of indie films. I've been trained in ASFD, as well as 'in the round' stage combat with the Seattle Knights (where you can't rely on camera angles or limited audience staging, as the audience is staged all around you.)

I've been a developer, a network engineer, a hardware support specialist, and a database engineer. I've been the IT guy for several charities like the March of Dimes, and several different types of Treatment Centers (such as for 'differently abled' children, and addiction rehabilitation), as well as doing customer and production support for companies like Microsoft (which is where I currently still work as a Program Manager for an internal business group.)

I'm also a farmer, currently with horses and sheep. The latter for wool production for my wife's business for handspun wool and woolen products.

And for hobbies? Costuming, the occasional writing, and I mess around with drawing and occasionally 3D modelling when the mood strikes, I do tabletop RP quite a bit, and oh yea, I'm an Admin here, I guess.  :mustache:

I work in Information Technology with a current focus on Desktop Support, but I'll likely progress that to either a Network, Security, or System Admin focus.

I don't really have a dream job.

I'm currently working in a bakery.

I'm not a baker tho, I'm just cleaning the plastic boxes, they use to deliver the bread.

Planning on doing this for 6 months. Afterwards I'll go back to school and ... well ... graduate.

I have to admit that I kinda screwed up school, so thats why I'm doing this job now.

Once I'm done with school, I'm planning to work as a graphic designer. ^^

I'm a carpenter. Currently, I'm sitting at home, but I'll have another job soon enough. I love working outside. It's hard work, but the pay and benefits are fat. :D

I work at Disneyland. I LOVE my job but I probably won't be able to keep it beyond another year or so because of my age. I'm going to have to transfer to a different area or find some other job where I can stay in my own dreamworld. Thinking of performing arts.

I've only had my first job for about a year now. I work as a stock "boy" at a small local grocery store. Although the rules are bent beyond belief. I do much more than the average stock "boy". I won't get into it, but I should say I do parts of everyone else jobs there.

Man, I feel you there. I'm a bagger at my local Sprouts and some shifts are tough. I only work part-time though, so it isn't all bad, I suppose.

But yeah, I've been doing things I never thought a "bagger" would have to do, like, say, help close the store for the night, or fetch carts, or sweep the store. It can get really rough, especially on Double-Ad Wednesdays and our 72 hour Sales, but it helps me through college.

For those not aware, Sprouts is a health food store and farmer's market chain in America, mostly in the southern/midwestern continental U.S. Never thought I'd work in one until I did. Still trying to wrap my head around that one.

I worked at a musical instrument repair shop for a while, and that was by far the most stressful time of my life. I'm so glad I got out of there.

Currently, I'm trying to make a job out of costume making. Right now I mostly just make fursuits and fursuit parts (tails, paws, etc.), but I want to branch out into other types of cosplay once I get more tools and have a larger space to work in than the sixty or so square feet of empty space in my bedroom. Publicity is a huge part of a job like that, but I have someone willing to help me out with it.

The biggest problem I'm having is working full days. It's one of the issues I had with school and with my last two jobs. I just can't focus for that long at a time. If I work for more than five or six hours, my work quality and motivation drop drastically. I looked into it a bit and I think it's ADHD, so I need to get tested for that sometime soon. I wanted to wait until this virus situation is done, but who knows how many months that could take. Maybe I should just go and get it done now.

I went to college to become a veterinary technician/assistant. I entered in 2017 and graduated in 2018 (it was an accelerated program). I am a qualified veterinary assistant. However, I decided to not go that route career-wise. I am now a dog groomer and I love it ♥️

I don't believe in working, slavery any form of it is wrong.

Now what I typically do is work as a carpenter during the summers.

My dream job is to be a stay at home housewife to another housewife that we would spend all our day simply investing in stocks and trade we would run our own business at home and have plenty of time for videa, anime and movies while having plenty of time together. I am currently an investor and an entrepreneur.

The best Brony career would be to get a job at Top Draw, or that other place that did Rainbow Roadtrip. Even if it is just coloring, it is still coloring ponies :lie:

I'm not employed so I spent much of my time on my computer. I do help and solve tech related problems for our friends if that counts for anything.

I’m an aircraft refueler.  Which is exactly as it sounds.  I fuel airplanes.

I mainly deal with private airplanes, though, not airlines except on the occasion.
