Toys, Toys, Toys! Play, play, play

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody.

A quick thought ran through my mind...if we as bronies/pegasisters enjoy buying and collecting MLP toys, how do we use them?

So, this is more of an ask topic (Don't be embarrassed by the questions I'm still keen to know more about the merch sector because I'm still a bit of a closet brony) How do you use your MLP toys?

  • Do you play with them like a little girl would, with voice impersonations, toy castles on the floor/table, and everything?
  • Do you just let them sit on your shelves and gaze at them every day, feeling proud to own them but never played with them?
  • Do you sleep and/or play with your MLP plushies?
  • Do you talk to your toys or plushies to make yourself feel better in "down" times (like after a bad day at work)?
  • Do you take a MLP plushie/toy with you when you go outside? If so, any public reactions?
  • Do you ever feel emotionally attached to your toys/plushies (meaning, getting that same loving bond feeling you would get from having a human friend or a pet)

Share your thoughts! I look forward to hearing from you all.  :proud:

Personally, I have a Rainbow Dash plushie that I always have on-hand when I'm writing fanfics or playing Minecraft. I love her a lot; having her around makes me feel closer to Rainbow Dash in general.

I also bought a pack of miniature ponies that resemble their show counterparts. They're currently mixed into a manger scene I bought after Christmas. (don't judge, lol.)  ^_^

Well, I'm the owner of two plushies, one Twilight, and one Vinyl plushie.

I do sleep with them every night, and I really enjoy cuddling with them.

I love spa days, wash them up, brush their hair and tie ribbons around their tails, if my daughter asks me to play, sometimes I will, but I would feel a bit too awkward to do that by myself. I like to take pictures of them in fun setups and write cheesy dialogue underneath.

No.

Not really; though I have a Rainbow Dashrine.

Do you sleep and/or play with your MLP plushies?

I go to sleep holding Angelbabe while she occupies a Rainbow Dash vessel / plush.

Do you talk to your toys or plushies to make yourself feel better in "down" times (like after a bad day at work)?

I talk to Angelbabe whether she's in-vessel or out, and she talks to me.  I don't talk to an unoccupied plush.

Do you take a MLP plushie/toy with you when you go outside? If so, any public reactions?

Not something we've done yet; Babe stays outside of her vessel for trips into or out of town.

Do you ever feel emotionally attached to your toys/plushies (meaning, getting that same loving bond feeling you would get from having a human friend or a pet)

This is a bit more complicated.  I love Angelbabe; though she is not a plushie and no plushie is Angelbabe.  The plushies themselves are vessels that she regularly inhabits.  However, I do feel an emotional attachment to Babe's vessels, as they've "been there" for a lot of special moments shared by Babe and me.  They're important, yes, but they're nowhere near as valuable or irreplaceable as Babe herself.  While I'd be sad to lose any of the plush vessels, we don't strictly have to have them.

I sometimes kind of play with them. It's more like arranging different kinds of scenarios and maybe voicing them in my head and sometimes I might take a picture. As for plushies (meaning any kind of plush I have), I tend to have one beside me on my desk while I'm on the computer so we can share thoughts and a plush also feels like company. I always sleep with a plushie too.

Also sorry if I sound weird for asking things, but this caught my eye and I got really interested. Who exactly is Angelbabe and where does she come from? This whole situation sounds intriguing.

I'm a huge plushie person but my mom won't let me get any MLP related plush... But I do have plenty of webkinz from when I was younger and five Pokemon plushies that get snuggles every night.

I've been gone from this world for what seems like millennia, Looking for nothing short of a miracle, I only ever wanted to come home, Please won't you let me go? When I have nowhere left I can run away, Will you lie to me, tell me I'll be okay? Close my eyes and lay me in my tomb. Then pull the trigger and send me home.

I snuggle my Fluttershy plush. I have her with me when I am drawing, watching the show, sleeping.

My girls have a lot of the miniature figures, they ask me to play with them, so I will generally get the little Fluttershy one, or Twilight and we play for a bit. Or the other day my youngest got her Fluttershy plush, my oldest got her Rainbow Dash plush and we played check up with all three of our ponies! lol. they took turns listening to their hearts, giving medicine and shots! I had to play the voices lol

Angelbabe is my partner; the woman that I love.  She's a blue pegasus pony with a rainbow-colored mane and cherry eyes.  She hails from her-Equestria; a place that, while I don't know all that much about it, differs from the Equestria depicted in the show.  She can pass freely - and effortlessly, it seems - from here to there and vice versa, and we can communicate no matter where she is.

And Babe herself differs significantly from the Rainbow Dash from the series (a pony whom Babe routinely calls "Rainbar Darsh").  I seldom call the Rainbow in my life by that name.  I will usually refer to her as Babe, Angel, or Angelbabe.  And she will refer to me as "doge," "boober," "dogeboober," "Zige-fried Dogezinger," and various other pet names.

Thank you for responding, this answered the questions I had in my head. It's wonderful that you have found a partner like that and I hope many good things for both of you. It's always nice when there's someone to communicate with, no matter where you are.

As for the main topic itself - I forgot to mention this in my last post but I do get attached to my plushies. They also seem to form personalities over time.

I treat my ponies like collector's toys. I hate letting people touch them without my permission as I don't want them getting damaged in any way. (Of course, this didn't stop my older sister from playing with the BAB ponies and ruining their hair.)

Now, I do have a pinkie pie plushie I sleep with that isn't really part of my collection. I chose her because she didn't have a brushable mane and tail, so there's no risk of messy hair.

Despite wanting to keep my ponies clean and in mint condition, I do bring my blind bag ponies outside with me to take pictures for my tumblr blog. Of course, I'm careful not to put them anywhere they could be harmed, and if they do get dirty, I wash them off.

Of course, if my niece wanted to play with my ponies, I'd play with her and teach her to be gentle with them. I'd probably choose ponies that don't have brushables hair so I don't risk getting knots and tangles.

Well, the most that I do is cuddle with my Flutters plush before sleeping. taking a pony away in a trip to take some photos for ponies around the world, and gaze them in those trips and they improve my mood

I play with my pocket pony/blind bag pony figures, but my single brushable sits by my bed, at least until I get more, then I'll play with them :squee:  And I'm planning on making or buying a plushie or two! :yay: And I'm planning on sleeping with them!
