Ever have a show or a game that you remember playing or seeing, but just can't remember what it was called? Well, maybe we can help.

Describe a thing in media that you remember playing or seeing but don't remember the name of, and maybe people can guess what its name is.

I remember a snippet of a tune from my childhood, sounds similar to the opening for Blackhole Sun by Sound Garden, or something by Dave Mathews, but pretty sure it's not from eithe rof them.

I'd be surprised if anyone could find this one, I'm stumped. Several years ago (like 2014?) I was exploring Psychedelic/Space Rock bands and came across a new one (2000 or later, I think maybe even in the 2010s) that had a sound that was similar to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. In fact it was so similar that the reviews I read (on ProgArchives maybe?) called it out for not being very creative.

I vaguely remember the album having like a blue(?) star (sun) or orb on the cover and I liked one of the songs but didn't end up buying it from iTunes because the copy on iTunes had some weird sound distortion, and years later I have completely forgotten about it and no longer know what it is.

I can't spot it from exploring the Psychedelic/Space Rock section of ProgArchives, so perhaps it's disappeared. but I don't think that happens. lol

That one animated show with the girl, the rabbit, and the big yellow elephant-like creature with red spots all over it's body? For the life of me I can't remember the name of that show.

Maggie and the Ferocious Beast?

I can't remember the name of this game I played on the computer, as a kid. It was a boat racing game and if I remember correctly, it was also educational. I've been trying to find it for years, but I can't seem to get any clues.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I've got one; it's been bugging me for YEARS!

When I first got my PlayStation, I didn't have many games for it and was looking to expand my library. My mom bought me a game demo disc from a pawn shop and I finished it. I ended up losing the disc and never found the game or any hint of it again, I even forgot the name.

It was an RPG, pretty obscure I believe if I never heard of it again. It looked similar to games like FF7 and Legend of Dragoon. The opening of the game involves someone in the protagonists family(?) dying, and they're buried at sea. The plot was centered in this town surrounded by a huge wall, and no one was allowed to go outside the village because the wall kept out the mist, which was full of monsters. Everyone had to stay in the village or they'd be killed by monsters. When night comes, an accident happens, the wall or gate is broken (don't remember which) and monsters flow into the village. The protagonist and his party manage to fight off the monsters, but the village was no longer safe, so the protagonist and his party have to leave the village into the outside world, into the mist to get help. The demo ends there.

If anyone knows what this game was I'll love you forever

There was this live action TV show I used to watch as a little kid in the 90s. All I remember is the premise of one episode: a gigantic alien(?) child kidnaps the main characters and uses them as toys making them fight other captives, probably to the death. To this day I wonder what that show was.

Also, I remember watching a weird movie (not animated) about a boy shrinking himself and travelling inside his ill grandpa, befriending the internal organs and stuff. It’s probably from the 90s as well, or maybe early 00s, and I think it wasn’t originally in English.

Holy cow you're describing a subdued feeling of a memory of a song that will haunt me for probably the rest of my life. There's a part of me that kind of never wants to learn what this song was just for the sheer mystery of it all but I'm happy to share this memory just for fun because I really doubt anyone can help.

So back in third grade I would ride the bus and this was back when the drivers were allowed to listen to the radio. I have no idea what station or even genre this driver would listen to but regardless I would always remember hearing this one song while reading on the ride home. It was a smooth, slower classic rock or country type song and while I can't remember the words a close approximation of the chorus sounded like "don't it get some flash, don't it get some flash" but "flash" was said phonetically like (fla-aj) It was so ingrained in my mind whenever I read I can't think about the A-Z Mystery series without hearing the chorus playing. It's fascinating really :sunbutt:

This happens to me all the time. Usually with songs – I remember a melody but none of the lyrics, which makes it pretty much impossible to find it. Almost always, I find it in the end, either after a lot of thinking and searching around or by hearing it again on the radio or somewhere else. Sometimes I might also remember a line from the lyrics, but either my memory isn't precise enough to be able to find it or the song in question is so obscure that the lyrics aren't available on any website.

There's one mystery I haven't been able to solve, though. I remember a character saying "Hey, I'm in 3D" in a silly voice. I have no idea who said this or where it's from – it could be a cartoon (more likely) or possibly even a silly YouTube video from years ago. The only thing I was able to find with a similar line was an episode of Homestar Runner, and that wasn't it (the voice was very different). I doubt I'll ever find it since my memory is so extremely vague. :dash:

Oh god, yes! There is something actually! I was really young and we borrowed some games for the NES from someone. One of them was incredibly fascinating to me. It reminded me a lot of The Legend of Zelda. I think it was (only?) about dungeons, probably more like huge labyrinths. I remember that I cried, whenever I turned the game on, because the opening/title screen music was amazingly beautiful.

I tried to look that up, but...it's so long ago. I really wonder if I would even recognize that game today. But it should be a game that was released in europe too, because of the region lock stuff. This one game is, like, the biggest unsolved mystery in my life, haha.

That would be Legend of Legaia, which was one of my favorite RPGs on the Playstation alongside Legend of Dragoon.

Wow! This topic would have been so helpful last year.

Around December, I asked my followers if they could help me out, and no one could. I'll copy and paste what I said in a status update...

Spoiler

There is a Christmas special that I saw many years ago, but I can't find it anymore. It's extremely rare, and not even Wikipedia talks about it. It was only on television once as far as I know, and I doubt it's been in high demand... In fact, my memories of it are kind of hazy, so I'll piece this together as best as I can. If anyone can help me out at all, I sure would love it.

First, the stuff I remember clearly.

  • The episode was a tribute/parody of "A Christmas Carol" with the three-ghosts and heartless scrooge trope. I remember that much clear as day.
  • There was a bit of a sci-fi motif to the show.
  • The show itself was a dark comedy, not quite G-Rated or meant for kids but still good enough for TV (think of programming blocks like Adult Swim).
  • The scrooge character was a mean, ugly, overweight female business owner who worked all her employees like slaves.
  • When they got to the part about her Christmas Future, the ghost showed her a future where she's more miserable and most of her employees are robots now. She asks the ghosts if this future is guaranteed to happen or if it just could happen, the ghost pretty much tells her it's not set in stone, and she gets disappointed because she actually liked this bleak, heartless future. (Also, it goes without saying, but her reaction to her visions of Christmas Past and Christmas Present were pretty much "Meh.")

What I'm kind of hazy about...

  • I don't think this was a stand-alone animated special. I think this was an episode from a TV show; a Christmas episode. The same kind of dark comedy is seen throughout, but this one episode was holiday themed.
  • I don't think the show aired too many times. It may have aired one time and that was it. Probably wasn't in high demand. Either the comedy was too cynical or the characters weren't likable enough.
  • I don't know for sure what era it premiered in. I don't think it was 90's, probably early 2000's. (If it was 90's, then it had to be super late 90's.) Might have either been a precursor to Furutama, or a more cynical copy-cat trying to cash-in on Futurama's popularity.
  • I don't think the female was human. I think she was some kind of alien, mutant, or monster. I don't think there were very many humans in this show, or at least not in this one specific episode.
  • I really can't remember much about the art style or how the female looked. Outside of being overweight, I think she might have a skin condition, crooked teeth, and maybe glasses. Point is, she was drawn to be aesthetically unappealing. Like an alien version of Ursula or something... I almost want to say that the art style was kind of like Invader Zim, but I don't think it was that angular or blocky...

And that's really all I can remember. I have forgotten the show's title, the names of the characters, all the vital information. There's nothing on Wikipedia about it, and I have no idea how to even being searching for it on Google. I bet I'm not the only one who vaguely remembers this rare show... Sorry I can't be of more help. :please:

In the time after I asked, I checked a listing on IMDB, but still couldn't find what I was looking for. I doubt anyone will know what I'm talking about. I'm getting so old...

Also this is a shot in the dark in regards to your game Coco, but, it sounds kinda like one of the Dragon Warriors?

I...doubt it, to be honest. Because I was just around 4 years old and in those Dragon Warrior games you have a lot to read. I think the combat system was more action-like, similar to The Legend of Zelda. :) Thank you for thinking about it!

There was a PC game that was installed with Windows Me and it was like space invaders but all the different levels had different enemies and patterns, and you could choose out of dozens of your ship's shape (but has same function). It was both controllable with mouse and keyboard, and the background was in outer space. I still remember it as a fun game, and I would still play it, only thing is that I can't find it anywhere. (I would really appreciate if anyone has a slightest clue of what this game might be and tell me.)

The other game also came as a free disc and a guidebook, can't remember where I got those. It was a RTS game in a gothic setting. Basically it was a fight between human race and other monsterous creatures. What I specifically remember is the vivid pencil drawing of a Ghoul in the guidebook. It was scary but awesome. I don't remember it having a deep gameplay and didn't go any further than few minutes, but I wonder what that game's name was.

  • 4 weeks later...

Okay this is SUUUUPER vague and I'm fairly certain it only aired in the UK but...the world was completely white and there was a little guy (I think he was a wizard??) who would bring real kids in to either make inventions or paint the world, and I think there were little enemy things? It had a kind of De Blob aesthetic, and it aired on either Cbeebies or CBBC, I can't quite remember?:scoots:
