1. When I was a kid, all the time. Now I only do it if their are no witnesses.

I think I used to climb the stairs on all fours when I was a little kid, but I haven't done that in many years though and I've also never done it going down the stairs either

Yes, also when I was a kid, surprisingly I found a method of doing it without hurting myself but don't try it, it's not a good idea.

Depends on the steepness and if there's carpet or not. 

Moved into a new house recently and constantly been going up on all fours. 

And nope never tried going down on all fours. I'll watch my dog next time to see how he does it jajaja

Not since I was two (or 1 1/2) I don't understand what you mean by it being the most Alpha method. I never heard of anyone doing it this way.
