Not illegal to use torrenting software. Useful for getting stuff available on torrents, like the Humble Indie Bundle torrent to reduce the lag on their website.

also its very useful for linux distro downloads(they are legally free btw) , espcially when one has a new release since so many people are downloading it, the direct download becomes super slow.
