How open are you about ponies?

im very very shy i hope to luna my family dont find out

A few days ago, I watched mlp on my computer and the intro started. When the intro ended, I heard my mother say "Is that my little pony you watch?" She stood behind me all the time! And then I had to explain everything. VERY embarrassing! First I didn't want my parents to know about this but now when they know it I can't understand why I didn't tell them earlier. Everything is so much better now, I can watch mlp on the tv in our living room and I don't need headphones when listening to mlp songs. Everything became better. But that's relies on how your parents react of course. My mother just said that she thought it must be awesome for the developers of the show to have such a fanbase.

At school, I've been very open recently and have "converted" almost all of my close friends. I even showed "The Last Roundup" to a close friend who was one of the more "popular" kids and a prominent member on our swim team (I swim) because he really needed to hear the message and then he liked it. I was extremely surprised.

I dreaded telling my mom, but it went fine and my dad is really the only one who thinks that it's really weird.

I got my sister into it too

I finally told some of my moderator buddies on our TC forum that I'm a brony...They're completely cool with it only one of them asked: "It means a fan of My Little Pony right? I wasn't sure." And they're totally cool with it!

I even posted a clip without fear. (Luna's: "Tis a lie" line.)

Still ain't telling my folks unless I REALLY want the 20% cooler T from HT.

heh, told my larp friends this weekend, may have convinced at least one or two to watch a couple episodes after explaining the difference from the old shows, got some laughs, may have been because i was clearing my rifle before making a sweep to run out any hogs on the land...

for those of you younger male bronies i gotta say, fortify your man-cards if you're worried abouut when others find out. persue said fortification however you please or can afford, even running a cheap car in bracketed drag races can get you cred, i know from experience.

btw, i finally dicided to go ahead and post on my FB that i enjoy the show, got three likes in 15 minutes... damn fast likes for my FB

<edit> make that four likes lol

Sadly, I keep it in my computer. My friends reacted with disgust and I never brought it up again. Staying in mah closet... A bit like Apple Bloom actually. Watching with headphones... Alone... When nobody was home.

I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

My friends knew the truth long before my parents. They accepted it and they are now members of the herd :D.

My parents ribbed me for a while but I feel they've come to accept it.

I still dont understand why they immediately believed me gay when I told them, its like if someone was addicted to CoD would you expect them to be psychopathic sadistic murderers?

Yeah, I keep my Brony life to myself. I do have one friend who is pretty open about it, but I don't ever get to see the dude enough to share my enthusiasm to.

C'est la vie, I suppose.

I don't go around volunteering the information, but I'm fairly comfortable talking to my friends about mlp. Basically, I'm as closed as it's possible to be while still being friends with other bronies.

I am quite secretive about my Bronyism, I have told no one that I see in day to day life. A couple people have suspicions, I think; I mentioned Bronies a few times one week, prompting one person to ask what Brony porn was like while smirking at me (in case you're wondering, I have never looked at a clopfic). Still, no one knows definitively.

If I told them, my family would accept it, and potentially join; my closer friends would as well. The problem is that bringing up the subject is very difficult. I don't want to randomly say "I like ponies." in ordinary conversation, just out of the blue. I've tried some unsuccessful hints: I once showed my mother this, and said "Someone combined Opalescence the cat and keyboard cat.", but she didn't ask who Opal was. I tried other similar things, with no luck. I'm starting to think that the best way would just be to like the MLP page on Facebook, but that would make my status a bit more open than I'm ready for/will probably come with a number of unfriendings.

I wear the shirts and quote the show around my friends, who think I'm a nutcase.

I don't force the show on anyone or bring it up in conversation with non-bronies.

Why hide watching a TV show?

Why hide watching a TV show indeed. Granted, I've gotten a lot of funny looks from my family and friends, but that won't stop me from watching the show while riding public transportation, or wearing my pony shirt (once it arrives!) in public. Especially not after I got brohoof'd on the light rail. That made all ridicule recieved ("look, he's wathcing a princess show") worth it. Not that I particularly care about the ridicule in the first place - people have their (mis)conceptions. I enjoy the show, if you think that's silly, your loss. I'll still enjoy it.

My parents actually support me watching the show. They absolutely love it too xD My whole family appreciates it.

As for friends. I've shown a friend of mine an episode and I can tell he enjoyed it, especially the Derpy Scene in The Last Roundup. My other friends went o.o on me and were quite disturbed. I still watch it in public and I've got no problem doing it.

Only my brother, who's also secret brony, my cousin, who just doesn't care, and someone I carefully assessed as a brony before telling them, who is also a brony, knows.

But that "someone" goes to my school, and just today was the first time we ever mentioned it, albiet somewhat, barely veiled, in public. I would probably get some "gay" for it, but at the same time, I do have a mixed reputation of awesome, quiet, odd and genius, so actually, I dunno if I'd get that or not.

As for my other, much closer church friends social circle, they would think it's kinda odd, but they'd probably accept it and move on. I suspect one of them is a possible brony, though, so that would be awesome. I'm not so much keeping it a secret from them, so much as nothing has led me to mention it, and nothing probably will for awhile.

Lol, as for my parents, I dunno. Probably the same.

Well, I don't usually talk to anypony other than my family and 3 or 4 friends, so only my friends and family know that I'm a brony. I'd never hide my bronyness though. I currently am wearing a Fluttershy shirt from we love fine.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm pretty open about it. I'll let anyone who asks know and sometimes you can catch me singing some of the ponies' musical numbers or quoting them, but I don't shove it in people's faces. I find that turns them off from ever watching the show.
