How open are you about ponies?

I'm pretty much completely open about it. I have an Applejack dog tag that I usually wear around everywhere, and would gladly wear a pony shirt, if I had one.

I watch the show a lot with my brother and sister as well, and even watch it a bit with my parents too.

Hahahaha!

No.

Call me scared or whatever, but there's no way in hell I'd ever admit to being a Brony unless I knew I was talking to one. I only have one friend I can admit watching ANIME to, MLP is a no go. Hell, the very reason I joined the forum is so I had somewhere to talk about ponies.

I don't have any toys or merchandise beyond the first season DVD.  (Complicated feelings)

In all honesty, I'm semi-open about it.  My friend and my family member know where I started writing.  I'm more open with my family member about it since my friend doesn't like it a lot, and I respect his likes/dislikes.  Only thing that's tempted him to watch the show was the fact John De Lancie voices Discord.

Not at all open. I hide it from everyone. My family knows (thanks to my careless sister) and they are fine with it (well, I only know that my mother is, not sure about the rest of them). But I generally hide it from everyone I come into contact with.

I talk about it all the time. Mostly because it pisses my friends off, and I think it's hilarious.

Neither of my parents are ok with it. I think my mom threw away a Rainbow Dash shirt I had.

I've only told two of my best friends- my brother and a friend from school.

I meant to buy some gear (I wanted to get that awesome "Free Pony Rides" t shirt at Five Below) but I spent all of my saved cash on FiM Comics.
Maybe in the near future I'll wear it proudly. For now, I'm looking in school for some fellow bronies/"pegasisters".

I'm very open. I'm going to cosplay Derpy at Phoenix Comicon. :D

Maybe it's easier for me to be open because I'm in my 30's, female, and was already open about being a nerd when I became a pegasister.

Also, my husband is a nerd and became a brony at the same time. We're equally obsessed!

Only my family and close friends know.

I am more than a little ashamed when they try to talk to me about it (especially in public) since that invites judgement and ridicule to those who might overhear, which does nothing to help my social anxiety.

I talk about it in public openly. I never really talk about it with those that are not interested, though. I wear pony shirts out from time to time. I never really try to hide it. My family is cool about it. A few are even bronies as well. I do understand the whole "anxious about how you're perceived" but I try not to let it bother me.

Very. I don't really mind if others know or what they think about me after they do.

I'm not very open about it. Pretty much all of my family knows that me and my brother like it, and a few of my friends know also. I just don't talk about it very often.

I hope you don't mind a girl joining this topic.

My at first I hid it but now my whole family knows. I I don't exactly call myself a pegasister for to me the term is for real fans of mlp fim. So I just call myself a fan :)

I've only ever told my parents, my brother, and one friend. I'm definitely very secretive about it although if I ever met another brony in person I would definitely tell them. And I would probably go to conventions if I had the time.

Everyone I know knows I like the show, just about. I have some MLP shirts and songs in my playlist, plus my laptop background is Rainbow Dash's cutie mark. I have nothing to hide, basically.

I am pretty open about it :). I am not openly stating it, but I don't deny it either. If someone talks about it, I will join in the conversation, if people want to know me more, I tell them :)

I try to keep it on the downlow (in school anyway). I'm not open about it per-say, but I won't deny it. I occasionally let subtle hints slip through (such as wearing a highly stylized Discord T-shirt) and will join in on conversations about the show. Elsewhere, though, I'm very open about it, specifically around friends or total strangers that I will likely never see again. When you're in love, you want to tell the world, but I know that there is a time and place for everything.

The only people that know I like the show are my parents and my brother. They don't care that I'm a brony; heck my mom became a brony when I told her about the show (her favorite pony is Flutters). I admit, if anyone asks me if I watch the show, I would tell them. In the past I used to be afraid that someone would suspect me watching the show, but now I don't care if anyone finds out. If they hate me for it, well they weren't a real friend to begin with. I learned a long time ago that there is no point in pleasing people in this world. That's why in the future I'm going to buy a Luna shirt from WeLoveFine and proudly saying that I'm an adult female who likes MLP:FiM.

  • 6 months later...

I wear my one pony shirt every now and then, and most of my electronics are ponified up (albeit in a subtle way). My room, however... my room has several plushies, a dozen few posters of pony type (including my horrible print-off of Octavia above my violin music station, spoilered below). Anybody that even takes one glance in my room sees it, but I don't try to be overtly annoying with my obsession over these miniature equestrians.

I'm still a "closet fan" in public. I don't walk around with pony gear, but if someone asked me if I liked the show, I would tell them the truth. I am, however, at the point where I am teaching my parents about the brony community. My mom's always been accepting toward it, though my dad used to be very skeptical. After several conversations about it, though, he's pretty intrigued by it and my parents come to me with questions about the fandom. So yes, I do talk openly with them about it quite a bit.
