So I'm thinking of starting a new subgenre of music called "Ponygrind".

I found this band on Youtube called "Hooves in the Throne Room". They (or he) made black metal covers of songs from the show.

Heh, that's pretty damn clever. If they could actually make it sound kinda like WitTR, that'd be pretty awesome. I am hoping though, that they're not the covers which always replace the vocals with the lead guitar. Doing that is the bane of originality.

 

And I don't really know what happened to him. It's all gone now though.

Do you know any other good metal brony artists? I've listened to Bronyfied and I thought he was okay. Not exactly what I was looking for but, not bad.

One starts making a new type of music, and as it becomes more popular, people say something like "Hey, this stuff is pretty good. Most of the bands who make it call it ponygrind, so ponygrind is a thing now."

This. You don't just wake up one morning and say "Hey, let's start a pioneering genre!" If people begin hearing your work and others start to follow in your footsteps by making songs and bands with similar characteristics, then I think you can say you've pioneered a genre.

I'd love to hear you sing/growl. I need to practice my growling and the best way to do that is to listen to and talk  to others about it. I sound like Periphery I-era Sotelo. (That's not good).

Sounds like some ponies haven't been looking hard enough, or only listening to what everybody else is listening to. There is just as much pony music that does not fit into a popular genre, as there is number of rock and Dubstep pony music. If you want to find music that fits your taste, you have to search for it. You can't just expect the music to appear all over Brony Radio networks.
Metal music is never up on hit radio stations, but it certainly does not mean it doesn't exist. To say that EVERYTHING to do with pony music is Dubstep, is like saying everything you hear on the radio is Dubstep. Yes, it's popular, but it isn't taking over the music world.

Also, I would suggest that you actually make the sub-genre and it's music BEFORE claiming to be a pioneer of it.

Well to be honest I'm not much of a death metal or hardcore punk rock or any of that type of music fan, but I do agree there is quite a lot of dubstep brony music and I'd like to see more genres of brony music.

Look, I've found ONE brony black metal artist. I've looked on YouTube for pony grindcore and all I found was a PMV. I tried using other sites but still nothing.

My friend always consult the brony musician directory genre tree for help. We have metal right here. Click on it for people who say they specialize in it. If you ever see artists not listed under a genre let me know and i'll add a genre to their profile so they show up. Any other edits you think would help please let me know.

 

If you get ponygrind band going i can put you under metal, punk, or experimental of wherever you think is the best place (you'll need a youtube video or two though).
