Why do some bronies seem to hate Princess Celestia?

Do you also hate King Kai/Super Kami Guru? And Zordon? Celestia wants the younger generation to surpass her, Goku-style, so she'll have a friendly challenge.

Yes because both of those series are absolutely terrible. .-.

Also I said I dislike Celestia, I never said that I hate her. ^^

I don't hate her (Except in Magical Mystery cure, that terrible episode makes her a Machiavellian manipulator that takes advantage of Twilight).

But I can see the criticisms, her 'motherly-ness' can rub off the wrong way with some people as 'patronizing'.

Machiavellian? Take advantage?

Come now... :please:

Her most blessed Holiness would never do such a thing! It was quite obvious from the get go that Twilight was being groomed for princess-hood and could hardly be considered taking advantage of her by elevating her to princessdom.

Honestly, seems like a pretty fair trade off. Twilight gained elevated status and a pair of wings.

I'm wondering if Celestia is on Dumbledore level sometimes, honestly. With her plans for Twilight and all... you really start to feel like she was planning the whole thing for something big. Now, I actually like her a lot, but I just feel like we're missing something of her character. She's a little too good, etc.; you just start to wonder. But that makes her interesting.

I know it's not MLP 100% canon (just 99.9%) but Celestia seems to send the Dazzlings to somewhere where they cause hatred.

And Principal Celestia seems kinda mean about Sunset.  If these aren't resolved (though principal may be) by the end of the movie, there will be real reasons to dislike her.

Princess Celestia is my favorite princess.  And whenever I've called her Princess "Molestia" I meant it in a good or unserious way.

Also, haters gonna "hate."  Probably in a facetious / hyperbolic fashion because that's how you get attention lol - be it good or bad.  "Ugh!  I HATE broccoli!!!"  No you don't.  Broccoli did not burn your house down or eat your family pet.  You strongly dislike or don't especially like broccoli, but that's boring so you "hate" broccoli.  This is how the internet functions.  Every feeling or thought anyone has ever had is positively explosive.

My favorite character is, without a doubt, Rainbow Dash.  The Bronies that love her love her, and the Bronies that don't...  Let's just say that it's better for my health if I ignore the latter sometimes.  This is mah advice to you, fellow not-hater of P. Celestia.

I think it's because a good number of us are highly suspicious of authority figures. I am not such one. Not to say that I accept every government mandate with a smile and a shrug. Those of you who know me I have quite strong opinions about government, but for the sake of this topic I shall not dwell on it.

Princess Celestia has my total faith, loyalty, and confidence. I love Her. Indeed it was Her that got me into the show in the first place. When the first episode opened and it explained how Celestia and Luna functioned like classical deities, controlling aspects of the world, it hooked me. Princess Celestia's presence made the world feel more rich and mythic.

Why do most seem so indisposed to Her? I don't rightly know because everyone is different and even trends are motivated internally by factors unique to the individual. I do think there is some truth to the distrust of authority or even that they want some sinister intent for reasons I can't fathom though.

I don't hate her even though Luna is my favorite princess. I actually liked her a lot when I started watching the show especially how she's been a good teacher to Twilight.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

BUT, she may be iin a revolving modd with her cutie maerk when itcomes to the showbeing developed as  ALMOST LIKE A TYRANT! .... uhhh... but besides that, she may be a undersdeveloped character. who knows??!?!? its alomst like a... you knoww. serious topic....

I personally really like Celestia, but one of the things that rubs me wrong about her is that she seems to have a gambling problem. More than once, she has gambled with the lives of ponies under the faith that Twilight and the magic of friendship will come out on top. Though those situations have turned out all right in the end, a lot of the times it was through sheer dumb luck. What if Twilight had not made friends with the rest of the mane six? What if she had never found the Crystal Heart? Equestria would've been screwed completely over. But at least she knows when to directly intervene; she sent Twilight her friendship reports to rejuvenate her faith in friendship. Even though she was taken down, at least she took a stand against Chrysalis.

I think the problem that a lot of people have with Celestia is the fact that she's not often shown really doing anything, and when she is she usually comes out on bottom or looking like a fool. Like I said, even though she took a stand against Chrysalis, she got taken down. The one time she didn't have blind faith in friendship, it ended up biting her in the ass because she decided to put her faith in Discord. The only other times she took direct action ((that I can recall)), she rejuvenated Twilight's faith in friendship and that led her to being able to save her friends and they defeated Discord. However, she also dispelled Twilight's "Want It, Need It" spell and was cast in a skewed negative light because it was thought she was gonna punish Twilight. Then of course are her manipulative tendencies where it was quite blatantly shown that she groomed Twilight pretty much her entire life to become a Princess, presumably because her cutie mark appeared along with Celestia's and Luna's on the Tree of Harmony.

I'm not saying that she should be a deus ex machina to solve all the problems, but it would be nice to see our fair Princess of the Sun take some kind of direct action and come out on top just a little more.

I don't hate Celestia, but she does have her faults.  The biggest fault I've seen is that she's presented as an all wise and powerful ruler, yet comes up with horrible plans and is constantly defeated.  The second is that she has a great back-story that's never touched on.  I mean she 1000 years old, had to banish her sister and mourned that loss all on her own, yet doesn't seem to reflect that aspect all that much.  Given the flashbacks we've seen, it really doesn't seem like her personality changed all that much over the thousand years and so has the same problem as some of the villains do, cool background info, ehh motivation and characterization, that she's being slightly hindered by the way the show is structured.

I for one don't hate Celestia, I do like Luna most out of all the other princesses.

I feel the reason for me is Luna is a more relatable character who has her flaws and has overcome them. As well as her personality is more relatable as well.

Celestia on the other hand has more of a Mary sue complex, so she is almost without any flaws. I wouldn't call banishing her sister a flaw since that was necessary to protect equestria. As well as she seems more motherly while Luna can be viewed as a princess who would be your friend.

I've been getting more into writing fanfics, mainly MLP since it has such a deep pool of creativity to pull from.

I'm good with character and story concepts, so if you need help with a fanfic or something feel free to Private message me

But don't be hurt if I have to decline if I'm tapped out for a bit. Otherwise I'm fairly good at it just sometimes I have to let my mind subconsciously think of some ideas.

I don't challenge the integrity of her character, she was forced to make a decision regarding Luna that effected the well being of all of equestria, regardless of which princess we decide to devout our faithful allegiance to, we have to realize the reality of the situations. Luna is subjectively inspiring and emotionally understood, while Celestia is bound to objective correctness and exceedingly large amounts of responsibility. She is a wise goddess with remarkable leader in my opinion, if you have the strength to keep your objective responsibility and continue to teach the importance in subjective lessons you are truly a leader worth following imo.

I may prefer Luna, but I don't hate Princess Celestia. I do hate how she's very underdeveloped, though. The only time I've seen her doing something other than being a Princess or Mentor was when she was

When she was in love with King Sombra and had a lot of curiosity which caused her to neglect what Starswirl the Bearded commanded and went through the mirror into the alternate universe anyways

but the comics are not canon, so that probably never happened. I want more development on Celestia. She becomes evil and becomes Solar Flare, and Twilight has to fight her own teacher. (That is way overused, but I want to see Twilight go against Celestia) or maybe we learn what Princess Celestia is like when she's not doing royal duties. That would be an entire episode of her eating cake. (I'm joking!) She needs more development, but to say most bronies hate her is wrong.
