Have you ever been in the Hospital for a severe reason?

@,

Erm.. Well yeah, sort of. laugh.png  Save the dialogue. It was mostly a wtf inside my head, and then I just went to the nearest teacher to complain that I'd just been jumped for no reason. The kid ended up going for psychiatric testing I remember, he was pretty loopy.

You guys are probably gonna find me weird, but I've never broken any bones or anything. Like, seriously. Never.

I guess I'm just a little more careful than I should be.

I've never broken a bone either. The worst thing I've done to myself was a drug induced concussion/seizure. Which I suppose is probably worse in a lot of ways. But yeah. XD

I was in the hospital for six hours for a car accident, and I had to return the next day for about 3-4 hours to run more tests on my leg and abdomen. Here's the story, copied from another thread.

My first accident was rather awful, and it was very traumatizing for me. I was on my way to my house to work on my children's book, which I was writing to read to local school children. I made a left turn at a busy intersection, and I both turned too fast and the other guy was speeding. I was in a very tiny little car, and the other car was a big white work van going 65 mph. I got hit in the worst possible spot and spun around several times, having lost consciousness by this point. I woke up in the broken chunk of metal that was my car. It was totaled. I saw blood and dust everywhere. My head and hand were bleeding and I was sore everywhere. My leg hurt. I was having a severe panic attack. It felt like I was in a horrible dream. An off-duty firefighter, who was eating in the nearby restaurant ran out to help me, and eventually I was able to escape the car. I called my parents, and they didn't answer. The paramedics arrived and forced me to lay down in the rain for a long time. I got put into medical stuff and put on an ambulance. All I could smell this whole time was the awful smell of airbag. I got taken to the hospital, where I waited with fucking glass in my hand, unable to move and needing to pee for several hours. I was depressed beyond belief, and after the shock wore off I bursted into tears. I wanted to die. I ruined everything. I was a failure. I disappointed everyone. I worried everyone. After a long time I got released, pee'd, and I left. I cried my way home, hating my life. I planned to commit suicide but never did it.

I never fully got over this, but I've made some progress.

Same here, actualy. Never gotten a cavity, either. I've taken falls that should land most kids in a coma. That is why I always drink my milk. :)

Well, I was in the hospital for mental reasons when a friend called the cops because I was going to kill myself, is that severe enough?

O boy I have, way too often.

I was born practically deaf, so around the age of 3 I had tubes implanted, only to fall out a year later and needed to go back to get them a second time. I also had to do a lot of testing in the hospital, still to this date, and it isn't very fun. The age of 8 my family found out about my serve teeth problem that was occurring, so I had to go to oral surgery for that which wasn't very exciting, and I got my tonsils removed! Around the age of 13 I fell down a hill, rolled back, and pinned my wrist down causing it to snap real loudly and was rushed to the E.R. Had to get surgery for that one too.

The most recent surgery I had was a simply 4 wisdom teeth removal, though 2 having to be sectioned.

Sadly, yes...

About 2 years ago, I got appendicitis, it was the worst pain I've ever felt, and you can't stand up. So I start crawling along the floor to my parents bedroom, and then I was taken to my local town hospital, which told me I had appendicitis, then I was taken to a bigger town in an ambulance, then to Adelaide in a Royal Flying Doctors plane, then to the major hospital in the city, where they took my appendix out, somehow though, they were a bit late, and it burst inside me, infecting me badly - so I was in hospital for about a week.

And this happened of a HOLIDAY! The school holidays! Get out of hospital - and straight back to school. sad.png

So far the most severe things I've ever been to the hospital for was a broken leg and 75 stitches.  They happened about a year apart in first and second grade.  Neither injury required an overnight stay but, to a very young boy, they were very scary things.  And, in the case of setting my broken bone, very painful too.  sad.png

Although I have had my share of bumps and bruises and minor ailments over the years, I am grateful that I have never suffered any truly serious injuries or illnesses.  But barring accidents and the unforseen, good health is something everybody loses eventually.  It's only a matter of time.  :/

I contracted pneumonia when I was 2 years old. Honestly, it's the only time I've ever had to go to the hospital... Nearly had to a time or two though where it was a close call on a serious heat stroke. Other than that, nah. Though looking back, I think there was an incident where I was so suicidal, I probably should have just been sent to one. Pretty much said I would take my own life at a point.

Two times that I can think of.

There was that one time I overdosed on sleeping pills and went into a coma for nearly three days  Fun times.

A few months after that I nearly cut off my left middle finger in a table saw. I had to go through very painful physical therapy for a few months, but because of that I stull have full range of motion in that finger. I still have full feeling in it, too. Also, I'm deathly afraid of most power tools now, especially table saws.

Two years ago I had a disc removed from my spine and a bone graft put in its place. I have permanent metal brackets screwed to the bone back there but I can’t feel them and my back’s as good as new. There was a long six-month recovery time after the surgery though, and that wasn’t much fun.

I've been in a psych ward before...

Recently, though, I ended up slicing my foot open on a piece of glass when I made the mistake of not looking where I was going on the sidewalk. Needed stitches and a precautionary tetanus shot. But it was nothing too severe... I've never been in intensive care.

Suicide attempts. Then there was the whole situation due to being too thin(ED)

Other than that I’ve not really been there for anything. Typically I can just go to a walk in express care as opposed to the hospital for more pressing issues.

I don’t remember if I was hospitalized when I broke my foot but I know I at least went to the doctor’s. All I remember is being told that I would need a boot to put my foot in for a while.
