Do you prefer one or the other in your sandwiches? Or do you like to eat both like me. BTW, Swiss cheese isn't really Swiss. It's actually a North American version of cheese from Europe called Emmentaler (I think lol).

My vote go's to both, they are both great cheese! I cant really say one is better then the other, but then again I really don't eat cheese all that much here and there sure, like with a hamburger or hotdog etc.. but yeah both

American cheese is meh, especially if it's that cheese "food" or cheese "product" stuff that isn't actually cheese.

Then again, swiss doesn't taste like much at all.

But, if given the option, I will opt for swiss, though I eat both.

I can't really pick one over the other, so both. It's the same deal with both. I eat one for a little while and I get sick of it. Then, I eat the other for a little while and guess what? I get sick of it. So, I switch over and the pattern continues from there. I really could never pick between these two types of cheese anyway. They are both delicious.

I like eating home made cheeseburgers every now and then, I like to switch it up between American and Swiss. I also don't mind having either cheese in a turkey sandwich.

Swiss is best cheese.

Seriously. When I was a wee lad I would actually eat slice after slice of it just by itself. It's addicting. Granted, my digestive tract didn't really agree with it, but you know what? Totally worth it.

If I'm eating a hamburger, then I prefer American. But if I'm having like a ham and/or turkey sandwich then I prefer Swiss.

A little off topic, but my absolute favorite cheese is Provolone.

Emmenthal. Then again, I am European :LOS

That being said, I do like cheddar as well from time to time, but Emmenthal is by far the best for sandwiches. There's many others that go well with it tho, such as Gruyier, Camembert, Brie, Asiago, Mozzarella, Caciocavallo, and many others I can't think of off the top of my head :P

Both are good in their respective contexts. I myself don't prefer one over the other. Now if we were talking Mozzarella or Parmesan, that's a different story entirely.  But, between those two, they both work well wherever I use them.

Indeed.

I really don't like Swiss Cheese. My favorite is Colby jack, but since that's not an option, I'll go with American cheese.

Swiss just does not taste good to me

I'm not sure if I have even eaten American cheese, but I think I understand what it is. But I eat both I guess. I don't really have a favorite either.

Wow, talk about your random polls, but OK, I'll bite; seeing as I do have Wisconsin in my blood and all it's pretty much some kind of cheesehead duty I guess.  ^_^   Between those two types I guess I'd pick Swiss cheese over American, the latter of which I find pretty dull.  However, as far as sandwich cheeses go neither of those are even my favorite; I actually favor provolone on my sandwiches more often than not believe it or not.  Random right, but hey, so is this topic so I guess it all evens out!  B)

Neither. if I can help it, I always go Pepperjack, or Parmesan, or Blue.

Maybe some Sharp Cheddar.

But both American and Swiss are boring unless used in just the right instances. (Reuban Sammiches for Swiss)

As an American, I can say that I think our cheese is disgusting.

Swiss for me I guess, although i'm not really a fan of it either (sorta tastes a bit moldy/bitter or something). My favorite cheese is either sharp cheddar or pepperjack. Mozzarella is also really good.

I have to say that there are so many types of cheeses to choose from. I love goat cheese, but for sandwiches I have to go with sharp cheddar or Colby

Swiss, I guess. American 'cheese' is all processed crap...can't stand it. You need to have some better choices up there like Provolone, Asiago, Gouda, Parmasean, or Friulano. Now those are my fav. :D Mmmm... (I'm a bit of a cheese nut :P)

I say all cheese is good cheese and delicious. So why not both cheese. But the only cheese I had tried in a sandwich is American Single.
