Funny thing, way back in 2012 when I was first getting into the gist of being a Brony, I was actually jealous of her, and didn't like her or her attitude. Now, after seeing Read it and Weep, Sleepless in Ponyville, and Wonderbolts Academy, I'm happy to say she's my second favorite of the Main Six. I even have cufflinks in the image of her cutie mark and her hug me backpack from WeLoveFine. She's grown into such a funny, and deep character, and her character design has been great from the beginning.

At this point she even reminds me of myself a bit.

Rainbow Dash is a great character and she's come a long way since season 1. I like her a lot more this season. She still has some egotistical issues, but they're not like they were before, and I think her element is a lot more prominent now.

A lot of you guys come in here and use this thread as your opportunity to denounce absolute hate towards a cartoon character (which I find amusing in general, by that's a different subject), seeming to continually ignore or find reasons to denounce or make null Dash's serious character development xP Even given the fact that she can seem more irriating in some episodes than others, I would think she's improved enough since season 1 where people could stop saying 'I hate her, she's a fucking bitch', and start saying 'I never did like her character, I still don't'.

Ah well. Guess people just like to be dramatic and flame-bait Dash fans D:

Ok ok, so I don't hate her THAT much...there's other characters in other places that got my true hate.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I honestly don't know why everyone has such a beef with Rainbow Dash in season 2, I thought she was better there than S1, as well as S4 so far

I think, in general, that she was better in Season One than in the other seasons.

Heres the Mane 6 In my eyes.

Rarity

Dashie

AJ

Pinkie

Twilight

Flutter

Dont kill me but Flutter is boring to me. And Rarity's the better singer... Tabatha Is the better voice actor. That won me over and Raritys amazing personality. FLuttershy has the same problem. SHYNESS. I'm sick and tired of the same thing over and over again.

But Dash Has so many layers. She doesnt learn things only about loyalty. SHe learns way more.

Rainbow Dash is a decent character. A lot of people seem to hate her, and I'm not sure why. I think she's a pretty cool pony. B)

She is hated for the same reason why some people hate Vegeta or Sasuke. They are flawed characters so its easy to hate them for those flaws and they have a fanbase that worships them so some people hate them for how overrared they are.

I personally like Anti Heros. Though I could see why people prefer Heros who never do anything wrong

Rainbow Dash had a nice showing in Sleepless in Ponyville.

But I think she was awesome in Over a Barrel, Griffon the BrushOff, Sonic Rainboom and a lot of cute moments in that first season.

Rainbow Dash:

Well to begin with, lets break it down!

1. The Tomboy - I love this stereotype, I can relate her to one of my all time heart throbes and fav characters, Haruka Tenou/Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon. That cocky, arms crossed, I am better then you, attitude is just very attractive. Very Alpha female like.

2. The Martyr - RD is sooooo someone to throw herself in front of another Pony to take a blow. Despite the minor masculine traits she has, she has alot of Maternalness to her, which leads us too...

3. The Mother- Rainbow Dash is very much the Mother figure. While not all miss gooey knock over mommy. She is the shirt buttoner and rear swatter to get going type. Something about her makes me think she would be the most successful (after maybe AJ) at raising a filly, especially one she bore herself.

and finally

4. The Last Stander- Dashie isnt the type to turn her back, on anything. Sure she might "run" from a tough sitcuation, but those are normally emotional not physical. This mare would die to protect, which in that one word (protect) sums up all of the 3 other types listed above.

I am NOT an RD fan. She is 5th best pony in my book. But that being said, I RESPECT HER.

---> Here be Fabulous Mare!

<--- There be Brony!

***Fear the Hater, for they are out to taint your Perfection. Buck the Troll, for he would seek to stop the Fabulous flavor. For you are Brony, coated in Pearl, maned in fine Mulberry, eyes of the sky, and flanks of Diamonds. Your life is for the Lady, all hail the Queen, for Rarity, your life, for her.*** -Applejock

  • 2 weeks later...

I was never really the biggest fan of RD as I just don't really like characters with her personality type and I failed to see why everyone was such a big fan of her, but I have to say that I've gone from downright hating her to really warming up to her because she's had the most character development out of the mane six IMO. Rainbow Falls and Wonderbolts Academy really sold it for me. Before I think a big problem I had with her was that I didn't really feel like she was representing loyalty very well because she could be such a jerk sometimes, but after hearing/seeing her choose her friends over winning multiple times, it's made me realise that she's grown a whole lot. So, she may not be my favourite, but I truly do like her now that she's really proven that she's matured to me.

I love her with every fiber of my being, and I always will. I lover her laugh, her smile, her sky blue coat, her gorgeous magenta eyes, that adorable crackle in her voice, her can-do attitude, everything! In my eyes, she's the more beautiful thing in existence and I would give my life for her.

She used to be my least favorite of the Mane Six because, well... she initially seemed to be some egocentric (though talented) athlete who cared about little besides herself and the Wonderbolts.  Everything about her said "jock".  Moreover, her Element never seemed to be thoroughly explored beyond the pilot, and even in "Sonic Rainboom" her saving of Rarity was more knee-jerk sympathy and concern than loyalty.  Yet even then, I didn't hate her.  ("Griffon the Brush-Off" I'm rather neutral on.  It was clever what she did, but the episode as a whole felt more like a Pinkie Pie episode for me to really appraise it as a showcase of RD's character.)

Season 2 started to change that.  "May the Best Pet Win" showed that she actually did appreciate what Loyalty was about.  "Mare-Do-Well", of course, confirmed exactly the egocentric pony she was as I had Flanderized in my mind as I had viewed her in Season 1, but it was actually one of the last pre-season 4 episodes I watched, so her behavior there didn't really affect my current appraisal of her (and there were myriads of problems with that episode well beyond that).  I found her surprisingly sympathetic in wanting her cider in the "Squeezy" episode ("Who cares how good the cider is if I don't get to drink any?" is still one of my favorite lines of hers precisely because it merges her egocentrism with the attitudes of Ponyville at large).  "Read it and Weep" was the turning point however.  It made me look at the stereotypes I had projected on her in the face.  I found out that underlying the egocentrism a deep and relatable insecurity as she struggled with the cognitive dissonance of being both a world-class athlete and an "egghead", eventually letting the "egghead" side of her win over.  I'm still not sure why it helped me appreciate her character more, but it did.  Ever since then, her egocentrism seemed to be rather toned down to the point where it just felt like a welcome quirk.  (Side note:  Apparently her support of Fluttershy in "Hurricane Fluttershy" has been widely praised.  I can't say personally if that's credible or not because it seemed to slip past me while I was watching it.  Blame the fact that I found the episode exceedingly boring and for that reason have not watched it since my first time.  However, I can trust their word on it given the improvement of RD's character elsewhere in the season, just not vouch for it.)

Season 3 helped me appreciate her even more.  Even though I felt that RD should have noticed that Scootaloo was becoming genuinely scared of her stories as she told them, it's easily forgivable as 1) the others only were "scared" because it would be the appropriate response to a scary story anyway and RD reasonably thought that Scootaloo was no different and 2) her bonding with Scootaloo and her confession to her were enough to show that she really did care about her.  Then, "Wonderbolts Academy".  It surprisingly took me a while to realize the significance of RD's character development here, but the insight came with a much greater appreciation of that episode and her.  Not only does she realize through her rivalry with Lightning Dust that ambition isn't everything, she's also demonstrated that she actually understands what it means to be a Wonderbolt because it takes a good amount of loyalty with the team she is on, as coordination with the group is obviously important in group stunt demonstrations.  This gave RD a good deal of integrity and what better way than to see it through her idols?

Curiously enough, many of her later roles have not improved on these.  I saw absolutely no reason for her to have any specific (and especially strong) sympathy for the Crystal Empire to host the Equestria Games based on the fact that Cloudsdale got passed over it in "Games Ponies Play".  Her behavior in "Daring Don't" and "Rainbow Falls" seemed very confusing and immature for her based on her previous development that I'm sure that others far more loquacious and analytical than I would do better to expound.  Also, her desire for the biggest "birthiversary" ever to be symptomatic of the "materialism/spectacle is everything" vibe that seemed to bug me about "Pinkie Pride".  Fortunately the first three are more clearly attributed to lazy writing and the latter simply based off a personal peeve of mine, rather than any real question of her character.

(Oh right, I forgot to mention "Flight to the Finish".  I ultimately agreed with Mrs. Harshwhinny that RD needed to work on "professionalism", but like in "Pinkie Pride", it's just a peeve.  Moreover, she demonstrated real support for the CMC's presentation and helped Scootaloo feel better about herself, so her character still feels like it's overall been consistent with her maturity.)

RD's still not in my top five favorite ponies, nor in the upper half of my Mane Six list, but I have really really grown to appreciate her as the seasons went on.

Is she best pony? Heck yea! She is best pony, everybody knows that.

Does she have a good color scheme? Yes, one of most unique out of the group.

Should she be shown more, or less?  A lot more will need to satisfy my obsession.

Do you like her personality? Yes, one of the main reasons why I like her so much.

I love her voice, how there's a bit of a raspy feeling to it or a crackle in a sense. I love her so much! She makes me have a sense of happiness and her appearance alone makes the show 20% cooler....

Now does someone have a teleportation device into other worlds that I could borrow?
