Oh man, Thank you for pointing that out so much! That sync is unreal! It's so awesome in fact that you inspired me to get an HD version of the song and sync it to the episode in my movie editor. I'm debating whether or not to upload or if I should wait until I can get the full 1080p version of the episode without watermarks. But just... wow, I kind of feel like I need to share this with the world.

 

Would you be alright with you if I uploaded it? I would all give credit to you for the idea, but the masses... they need to experience this glory.

I LOVED the season finale! If you ask me, this would be a worthy end to the entire MLP:FIM show. I'm not saying that's what I want, I'm just saying Hasbro could end it here without me getting sad or angry.

 

Regarding the Harmony Box. I first thought that all 6 would be transformed into alicorns, but it just seems like they were transformed into a more "powerful" version of themselves.

 

And thank Celestia! Discord is now 100% reformed!

I knew I was going to get a chance to use this reference at some point, but believe it or not I actually thought it would have been Tirek I was referring to being betrayed. Maybe I give him too much credit, but I thought Discord was playing Tirek the whole time, working somekind of plan to make it seem like he was in-league with him while at the same time setting him up for defeat by Twilight. He kept the fact that Princesses transferred their magic to Twilight a secret until he absolutely had to tell Tirek after all.

 

Speaking of the Princesses, what was their plan here? Tirek is after their magic so they transfer it to Twilight to keep it safe. Okay...and then what? Tirek couldn't get their magic, but did they have any kind of secondary plan in mind, especially when the three of them are so exhausted that they can barely stand? Did they expect Tirek to be so pissed off he'd throw a tantrum and just leave? I know you could say they trusted Twilight to figure out someway to stop him, but it kinda seemed like they were only delaying him rather than trying to stop him.

 

Another little touch I noticed was when Tirek blew up the library, we see Twilight escaping the blast with Owlowiscious clutched tightly in tow. I know it's obvious in hindsight, but it shows that Twilight's thoughts upon seeing the fireball headed her way wasn't "Oh no, I've got to get out of here!" but "Oh no, I've got to get Owlowiscious out of here!" Then, upon seeing the ruined remains of the library, her home since she came to Ponyville...Twilight is pissed and ready to make Tirek a smear on the ground. Which she almost did in the jaw-dropping fight sequence looking like something straight out of an anime.

 

Then there's the Rainbow Powers. I ranted on the designs since they were first revealed but now having seen them in action...they're not that bad. I still don't like that those with wings have colored feathers like so many bad OCs and some of the color choices still don't work in my opinion, but something about them seems a bit different than the ads showed and it's not just the fact that their glowing like fireflies here. I can't really put my finger on what it is though...

 

Speaking of designs, Tirek is sinister and intimidating as all hell, even more than the previews led you to believe. What's more is that, apart from a few minor changes, he looks almost identical to his G1 counterpart. For all intensive purposes, Tirak is a possible bridge linking G1 and G4.

It was FANTASTIQUE! I'm actually split between seeing this as the best finale and that from S2. I'll be watching the series again now that S4 is finished, just as planned, so I'll be able to tell better later on. For now, all I can say is that it was SUPERB from start to finish. Twilight gaining confidence in her role as princess was great, but what I think I really enjoyed more than anything was Discord truly becoming reformed.

 

I honestly do believe Discord truly reformed in S3, but he was never really convinced the way he was in this episode, and I think a lot of the blame goes to the mane 6 sans Fluttershy. She was the only one to truly believe in him. Everyone else was either impartial or still openly didn't trust him (particularly RD and AJ, especially AJ), so to me it kind of makes sense that he'd turn his back on them when all of them except one never really cared for him until now. IMO, that's what made this episode so great on top of the obvious things.

 

The timing to open the chest was also perfect. I had thought initially that it would be done mid-season or after so long as it was at least before the finale, but seeing it done this way makes perfect sense to me as well. And the mane 6's Super Saiyan transformations was something I dig so much I hope to see it again in the future.

 

10/10, and that's not to be taken lightly.

OMC! This was the greatest season finale I've ever seen in my life! I watched it with my friend and boy it sure was great. I didn't even know Tirek was in the first generation.

 

Wonderful two-parter episode! My favourite part was when Tirek tasted the rainbow from the Mane Six. So looking forward to more adventures for the beloved ponies, especially Twilight.

I also found it weird that the 5 or so episodes before the finale was pretty dissapointing and then just BAM! Right in our faces everything explodes and we get non stop action all the way through.

Great way of putting it Freedan!  That is exactly how I feel about it.  Though I personally liked Discord more as a villain, I do believe he had a good role in the finale.  I was hoping to see the mane 6 turn to Alicorns in the end there, but it makes sense what the animators did making them royalty in Twilight's palace as her personal helpers.

And now I just wonder were they go from here. Twilight is now 100% princess, as she has a role to play, a people to lead and a castle. They fought a villain that challenged the powers of all the alicorn princesses, all ponies in equestria, and Discord. While the finale was friggin amazing, I just can't help but wonder what they do from here. They erased the last remains of twilight before she was a princess (and one of the most iconic places in the show), and now it just feels like they have no were to go. It just feels like they have completed the journey of the mane 6 now, and I really wonder what they can do next to keep up the quality.

Well, life in a castle can be quite stressful.  That itself can make for at least 3 episodes next season.  And how will the CMC take this new change?  I bet they will cause a ton of trouble in the castle making it hard for the ponies to do their duties.  Guess we will have to trust our fearless leaders to do their best in making new episodes for us to enjoy.

With Twilight being affirmed as a full princess now though, it is just going to feel odd seeing her in slice of life episodes. She is now a princess, and must maintain friendship and harmony throughout the land. And as for adventure arcs, unless they pull some really emotionally heavy stuff out they can never really top this. It's like the just finished doing everything they set out to do in episode one, and now I just wonder were they can go next.

This was amazing! Maybe the best episode of the show! Everyone who thought Keep Calm and Flutter On ruined Discord's character must now see that it actually turned him into a better character. There were 2 great character conflicts: Twilight feeling useless and Discord trying to decide between his friends and his chaotic nature. Both were really well done and addressed issues people have been raising about both of them since season 3. I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed Discord this episode. That was some deep character development. The battle was great, animation looked great, the songs were good and it capped season 4 off perfectly. 10/10.

 

Also this definitely establishes season 4 as my favorite season now. What a ride!

Talk about ending with a literal bang!

I really enjoyed this finale, even if I have some nitpicks.

One, Twilight's old library is gone, which sucks because her new home is ugly.

Two, it seems like everypony was holding the idiot ball today. Transferring all their energy to twilight was a terrible idea. Twilight actually agreeing to exchange all their powers for her friends freedom was an even worse plan, even if it worked out okay. They just got lucky...

I loved discord especially in this episode, he's what really made the episode great, IMO. He's changed a lot since his first appearance, and I love him for it. The dislestia tease was cute. Also, I love the way they designed his "magic".

But man, this episode was amazing.

I wouldn't go so far to say that.  Visiting old places can be fun!  But you are right.  We need to see more of Equestria.

I personally am hoping for less of the mane 6 now that they have reached their near apex in development. The main cast as nearly done all and seen all, and I would really like to see new characters.
