I don't criticize amateur drawings or artwork unless it's just extremely poor, or I have some kind of grudge against them. I criticize a lot of other things like politicians, organizations, famous people, religions, theories, abstract art, or generally anything I dislike.

I think I'm gonna buy a tomahawk soon, most likely a CS Trail Hawk cos it's cheap but solid. It kinda looks like crap from the factory: But with some paint stripper and wood stain.... ... it can look quite nice. Well, I was torn between the "Trail" or the "Norse" hawk, liked them equally. The Trail had the hammer poll which makes it swing a bit better, but the Norse had twice the amount of cutting edge. Decided to go with the Norse hawk because it was $8 cheaper, so it should get here soon. It looks pretty cool when customized:

Hypnotize yourself to be a pony, links included
Goose replied to Gone for good's topic in Sugarcube Corner
If you're skeptical or unwilling, you're not going to be hypnotized and you don't need to worry about anything... but then again skeptics probably aren't going to listen to the audio files. I have no idea about long-lasting effects of hypnosis on more suscptible people, but it's interesting. I certainly wouldn't want to be mentally stuck, even for a day, as a female pony. Yeesh. -
Has an Anti brony ever gotten violent?
Goose replied to 100 beasts kaidou's topic in Sugarcube Corner
To be fair most random people hearing about bronies for the first time would think it was highly unusual at the very least... We'd probably have a lot more stories of violence or other abuse if every brony went around wearing MLP clothing and proclaiming their love of the show at every opportunity. It's not usually something highly visible, like one's race. Still, I agree... sometimes people take the fandom too seriously, treating it like an entire lifestyle choice or an ethnoreligious identity... with very serious "coming out" stories... : ) -
If they're not expecting money or some other form of payment, I wouldn't worry about it. If their song is for sale on iTunes, however...

I hate your typical sandy, overcrowded beach. This is more my kind of beach, out of the way and no people (and it's my fave beach around here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFU3TcLEL7I

I had some of these maybe about 8 years ago, 40k Orks and LOTR, most of my friends at the time were into it so it made sense, they each had different armies, Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Necrons, Tau. Prices seemed to get higher and higher each year, and it got ridiculous considering they were unpainted, unassembled plastic pieces... only the pieces for 16 figurines going for $40-50. Stopped after a couple years, only played actual battles with friends a few times.

Do you really care about what people think about you?
Goose replied to Sir.Flutter Hooves's topic in General Discussion
Do I care what people think of me online? Not really. Do I care what people think of me in real life? You bet your ass! I don't feel the need to bring up MLP in my day-to-day life. It's just a show I like. I don't need to trumpet the fact from every rooftop. It definitely would affect most people's perception of me in a negative way, so why mention it? I'm perfectly comfortable staying in the pony closet for the time being. -
You pretty much answered your own question there... Also they fire people for touching customers - like the granny who was fired when a rude woman shoved her backwards, or the three men who were fired for subduing a gunman. Just saw this on Reddit: Come on, that's just sleazy...

Too many fantasy cars for me to choose just one. My realistic dream car? "Because they're pimpin'. And cheap. Like 'half-used cigarette' cheap."

This topic reminds me of the new ArmA 3 game... ArmA 3 is set in the mid-2030s... the previous ArmA games were set in the late 80s to the present day... Personally I'm not a fan of the future setting, not at all, since ArmA is supposed to be "the" most realistic military sim, and I'm of the opinion that it can't be realistic if it doesn't exist! I'd rather have had them set it back in time rather than this Starship Troopers stuff. I like to see the weapons and vehicles I know and love, not some weird "caseless" "6.5x39mm" rifle that some game developer made up, or vehicles that simply don't exist... Gah. (I wouldn't care if it was a normal shooter - but ArmA prides itself on realism and that clashes with nonexistent items)

Helmets aren't cool... Fonda and Hopper didn't drive across America back in '69 with some namby-pamby safety device. Wearing a helmet just makes you look ridiculous, like that safety-conscious kid in The Pagemaster. (Actually I've flipped and my head has landed square on a boulder before - I always wear a helmet)

When people say "sarry" instead of "sorry". For some reason that particular word always catches my attention. No idea why, but it irritates me a bit.

I'm a fan of the classic trilogy, I don't like Episodes I, II, and III, and I absolutely hate the numerous edits (Han shot first you m-therf-ckers, strong language is warranted in this case!) they've done to the classic movies before releasing them on DVD.

I like it fine, but I'm not a swordsman so I don't know about proper balance, etc. My version has the fuller since they seem to have stopped production on the "nohi" version. At least, they were out of it when I checked. It's a pretty light sword but it feels solid. One thing to note, the handle material is advertised as G10, but that's false, it looks like ABS to me. I suspected that prior to buying - doesn't bother me, the Hanwei version uses ABS as well, and ABS is used on Becker knives and other tough products. It's not slick or anything. Fit and finish seemed pretty good given the price, it fit into the saya well. It came "okay" sharp but that was easily fixed. Blade thickness is about 5.5mm/0.22in, it balances about an inch forward of the habaki. I like it, especially for the sub-$100 price. Not too many functional swords out there in that price range... Ah, threads were merged... I never liked the title of this one. Bladed / Exotic Weapons doesn't match my interests. Most of my knives are not "weapons" in any shape or form. It's almost... demeaning to assume that people collect knives with the thought of hurting other people. I'd prefer a less-aggressive title like "Blade thread" or "Knife and sword thread", etc. Shoving bushcrafting knives, samurai swords and spiked maces together in the same thread just doesn't work... I expected a merge, though, heh.

Bohemia Interactive / Free Radical. Although Free Radical doesn't even exist anymore... sigh. That just really sucks. Oh well, back to waiting for ArmA 3 Beta and DayZ standalone.

I have a fair amount of knives, I don't go anywhere without one. Nothing expensive, CRKTs, Kershaws, Cold Steels, a couple machetes, a couple slipjoints, a couple Chinese folders too. Right now my knife of choice is the Endura 4. I have but one sword, 1060 carbon, 20-inch blade:

To be honest I don't really follow any "culture", I like FiM, I like fan art and I like fan videos, but I don't possess any Brony-specific ethos and I haven't changed any of my "core values" simply because of FiM. There hasn't been anything to change, really. I don't love and tolerate everything either.

Laughing/Smile when you get in trouble?
Goose replied to ColtofPersonality's topic in General Discussion
"It is a cold February night. I am leaving a Holiday Inn located on the outskirts of what is listed in the FBI reports as one of the most crime-free cities in America. It is cold, bitter cold, with a savage Nor-Easter blowing. I button my topcoat over my suitjacket as I walk through the darkened parking lot to the very edge, where I had to leave my car. Alone in the car-filled lot is a young man in a thin pea-jacket, smoking a cigarette, lounging against the hood of a sedan. On this night, in this weather, it is not a place to relax for a smoke. I look around the lot, wondering whom he is waiting for. There is no one to be seen. I glance back at the young man, and he is already looking at me, and our eyes meet. I nod to him, the instinctive gesture of one human being meeting another in a lonely place. He turns sharply away, looking fixedly at nothing, and draws on his cigarette. Alarm bells ring in my subconscious. Something is wrong here. The same instinct makes my right hand unbutton my topcoat and my suitcoat, to give that hand access to the Smith & Wesson Chief's Special in its speed rig on my right hip. I feel the frigid wind knife through my chest. You shmuck. I think to myself, if you get pneumonia and die, they'll list your cause of death as paranoia. I keep walking. The young man, directly in my path, keeps looking away. I pass within a few yards. And, suddenly, he moves. The half-smoked cigarette (I remember it had a brown filter) is thrown to the ground, and with a violent sweep of his arm ("Marines, let's go!") he gestures towards a car in the parking lane behind him. And now a lupine face comes from behind a fender, its eyes on mine as the young man's are now, narrowed and hungry. And they lunge. For me. I am two people. One of me watches in fascination, never before having seen a human face in a frenzy that would draw the lips so far back from the teeth that the gums are showing. The other of me, without really thinking about it, draws the .38. And, voila, another revelation. Never before, except in cartoons, have I seen people come skidding to a halt on the heels of their shoes, with their toes pointed skyward and their hands flailing for balance. We stand looking at each other for a long moment. They can't see the wicked tips of the hollowpoint handloads in the chambers, and wouldn't recognize them if they did, because this is before the day when ACLU bleated to the world about Super Vel and police brutality. The gun isn't even pointed at them, just held casually at a 45° angle. But they know what it is, and they look at me with surprise. "No fair," they seem to be thinking. "You're not supposed to pull steel!" I give them a big grin, partly because I often respond to stress situations with a touch of hysterical laughter, and partly because I can't think of anything relevant to say. Then, I walk to my car, backwards, watching them with an occasional glance over each shoulder for a third mugger, who either isn't there or knows enough not to jump on somebody with a piece. And then I get in my car and drive away." -
I'd say this is a pretty popular opinion considering how "CoD kid" seems to be one of the most common insults thrown at gamers.

How Do You Feel About A Background Pony Episode?
