THANK YOU RESPECT Easy mistake to make! It's actually Sun Tzu from The Art of War -
Overall I prefer to be well done or even charred to a crisp actually. Tender who?

How do you tend to cope with shame/humiliation?
Raskolnikov replied to aoEAF2FBvC0MIo2Q's topic in General Discussion
With self pity. And from this unbecoming and humiliating display of wallowing in our own sorry shit, we rise and plan our swift and supreme vengeance against our enemies. MAD protocol initiated.- 76 replies

Ice Breaker Silky: Good, Evil, Neutral?
Raskolnikov commented on Ice Princess Silky <3's blog entry in Ice Breaker Silky
Two wrongs don't make a right my ass. I for one welcome some well earnt spite with a generous side of salt Remember the ancient wisdoms: die cry hate <3 -
I would have posted something about how this is all silly superstition, but this genius. Fucking hilarious, thank you for opening up my eyes to my blindness to the infinite potential of such a supernatural tool. Ordering an Oujia board to test this as we speak In any case, if they end up being real then I'd be the arrogant dumbass dying within 15 mins of a horror film so everyone could point and laugh at my corpse then but I'm pretty strong in this conviction so! Try me!!! To paraphrase my mum's word to my 12 yo self about ghosts, "there's enough to fear of from the living to worry about the dead." She is SO good at this motivational talk and, uh, "unconventional" wisdom.

What Do You Geek Out About/'Fangirl' Over?
Raskolnikov replied to EtchASketch's topic in General Discussion
My unpublished 20,000 word essays on Madoka Magica I wrote on Discord would say, "probably Madoka Magica". -
Love is something you consistently practice, towards oneself and others. One can say they love you 100 times a day, but if they don't reflect that in their actions, their words are worse than worthless and are a stain on an already heavily discounted and misused word. It's not needy clingyness or displays of possessive control or "loving from a distance" emotional absenteeism but a committed and grounded practice. Too often infatuation or the desperate need to not be alone is confused for feelings of love towards someone, but those are merely projected rescue fantasies of meeting someone who will "save you" from your bad feelings, your life, your past, etc, and that fantasy is projected onto the object of infatuation. They come from a lack of love and a feeling of intense need, not from the presence of love. Agreed, and I will add that love should never be exclusive to romantic love. All of the above should apply to all kinds of love. I'm also in agreement of bell hooks' (maybe controversial) view that love cannot coexist with abuse and neglect because by such definition love is an act we practice and not a passive feeling.

I don't even meet my own moral standards in non extreme situations so I don't hold out much hope here for moral integrity either way 😂 The real question would be whether I valued my life enough at that given moment to consider doing such a thing, as I'm averse to causing loss of life in most scenarios. But I don't like to ponder extreme hypotheticals because you can't really know how you would necessarily react in such extreme situations. I wouldn't be opposed to killing the attacker but whether I could practically pull off such a thing is up in the air. I have to say though, I don't believe true pacifists exist. Everyone has a breaking point where they would commit violence even if for self preservation, the real question is what it would take to unlock that part of them hidden out of sight of ordinary life. Our more sheltered lifestyles and conditioning enable us to continuously deny the existence of those aspects of us, but there they are, lurking dormant in the shadows.

Have you ever / would you ever dye your hair?
Raskolnikov replied to Mothra's topic in General Discussion
I've dyed my hair red without bleaching it first so it turns into a lovely, more natural looking dark red. I was so happy with the results and got so many compliments that I've not considered trying a different colour Will probably do it again before a concert or before travelling, whichever comes first. It's washed off now and I feel 'off' considering how me the dye felt :| Despite red dye being allegedly notorious for washing off quickly, I have managed to make my semi permanent dye last for months without needing a top-up. -
Have you ever showered in high school before?
Raskolnikov replied to FeatherDataReborn's topic in General Discussion
YOU GUYS HAVE SHOWER FACILITIES??? Glad we did not, everything about that sounds mortifying... I'll just shower at home guys..... Putting a bunch of teenagers in a shower together sounds like a recipe for disaster. -
Things People would have never expected of you ?
Raskolnikov replied to Alpakachii's topic in General Discussion
Honestly there are a lot, a LOT of things people wouldn't expect of me. Including here. -
Oh an old cooking thread, I've been wondering if people around here cook and/or would be interested in a cooking/baking club to share recipes and/or tips? I was barely taught any cooking growing up and, well, let's just say my parents are culinarily challenged... so I had to learn almost everything by myself and I am quite happy with the stuff I can make now :] I've noticed it's actually really common for people to not be taught how to cook, I always feel like a strange anomaly when people bring it up cos they sound surprised I know how... It's a shame considering how nasty premade supermarket stuff can be.

Most Beautiful Sight You Have Seen
Raskolnikov replied to Handsome Changeling's topic in General Discussion
The Norwegian fjords come to mind, I'm sure there must be recent photos somewhere... My dad's home region also comes to mind, the landscape is somewhat similar but nowhere near Scandinavian temperatures of course lol -
Most corny/cheesiest moments in a movie in your opinion.
Raskolnikov replied to MLP Moth's topic in General Discussion
The ridiculous animation for when Mufasa's dad fell into the river or something in Disney's Mufasa. I swear to god I almost had to be hospitalised from laughing at how unconvincing the CGI was Actually it might have been Mufasa himself, honestly the film is such a blur omg 1:20... everything about the video is absurd but the over the top fake looking cinematography with Mufasa unnaturally getting blasted... and the MUFASAAAAA scream... fuck, I don't think anyone could have prepared me for this scene. What a waste of a lovely film idea, bring back the 2D animation and hire writers who actually like the source material please I'm beggingggg -
Lucky to be living in a town with a bus terminal and a train station as well as a variety of domestic and immigrant shops nearby - only problem is the unreliability and costs of public transport, as well as bland, uninspiring, hostile architecture in public spaces that hates youth, the elderly and disabled people alike.

general What's the dumbest thing you did as a child?
Raskolnikov replied to Meson Bolt's topic in General Discussion
I drank a whole bottle of orange flavoured vitamin C syrup. I think I was a toddler at the time. When my parents found out at the end of the day they called a doctor and his advice was to drink a large glass of milk. I didn't do it because milk is disgusting, but I survived. -
general Has anyone here ever taken any language proficiency tests?
Raskolnikov replied to Kevin Tang's topic in General Discussion
I've gotten both a Cambridge and a IELTS English Proficiency certificate. I literally did not even study for my IELTS and managed to do better than the Cambridge one I took years before the IELTS - what surprised me was that I got a higher Speaking score than a Writing score in the IELTS... I got lucky and the Speaking questions allowed me to just go off on an environmental rant and the examiner seemed amused and at ease about my fluency. Compare that to 2013 when I was still a minor and I had frozen badly during the Cambridge Speaking exam, and I can say there's been an improvement on the social front hahahah -
Almond milk - can't stand the taste of cow milk on its own so switching to non dairy milk was easy, have no idea how others can drink this stuff!! Though I'm aware almond farms are a problem in places like California, I don't know how bad it is for European sourced almond milk in comparison.

general If you were to become a Billionaire tomorrow, what would you do with your life?
Raskolnikov replied to MangoFoalix's topic in General Discussion
I'd be able to buy a house back home. I'd probably save enough to ensure I'm comfortable, probably buy shittons of music gear lol, give enough to set my friends for lfe and give the rest away to improve society as I don't care much for frivolous luxuries. I'd travel a lot too. -
I'm on mobile so I'll just share my home screen. My stuff has been Madoka Magica themed for years. :p

How to learn how to analyze music criticelly?
Raskolnikov replied to Tilgoreth's topic in General Discussion
Interesting question. I don't even know how to be honest, I think being able to analyse music comes with time, knowledge and musical experience... music theory can help but it's not even strictly necessary, some people can write music without any knowledge of western music theory at all. It does require a loooot of active listening and attentiveness though. I don't even think I know how to analyse music properly, I just take note when something sounds good, or when it sounds "off", and try to figure out why I feel that way. But it doesn't mean I'll necessarily get a good answer. -

If you could live anywhere in the world and why
Raskolnikov replied to Lunar Echo's topic in General Discussion
I'd go back to live in my home country, if it were actually half decent econonically to live in and not a dumpster fire everyone is trying to escape from. -_- From experience living in another country is way overromanticised. All your problems will follow you and most countries have big issues that you don't know about because you like the fantasy of another place but don't know the reality of it, not to mention you are guaranteed permanent homesickness if you liked where you came from. It can rip families and friendships apart. It can rip your heart apart. I can't imagine doing it for funsies, it's an ultimate last resort to me.- 60 replies
