Furries!

Well, I guess I could call myself a furry, I do like well-done anthro art and games such as Star Fox and Sly Cooper. Plus, the community can create some truly awesome art, but I'm not into creepy fetishes such as core or stuff like that. I'm not very fond of fursuits either. Those things look like they crawled out of the very depths of the Uncanny Valley.

I was a furry before I became a brony, but I wasn't involved much in the culture, if at all. They're basically the same as the brony fandom I've seen, except with a much larger base to draw from (simply being animal+human, rather than a specific show).

Don't worry. I have nothing against furries. I saw a few of them on one of the commercial channels (yes, The Netherlands has commercial television, after the whole bullshit it went through) walking through the city and keeping some folks entertained. It was all positive.

Japan, where Yo-Kai Watch's second movie has more success than The Force Awakens :umad:

My experience with furries has been largely limited to the online, adult entertainment-orientated side of the fandom, and because of this it hasn't been pleasant.

But over time, those problems have cropped up everywhere that I'd gone that has a substantial porn following.

Because of this, I've come to dislike society's over-reliance on labels. It mistakenly caused me to despise furries when I should have been despising perverts of any label. The people who I've had problems with weren't problematic furries, they were problematic people, and those people are the same in any fandom.

All in all, I've found that brony isn't a very different fandom from furry. It has the same general kinds of people, the same kind of embarrassing public displays, the same rough balance of decent people to perverts to complete whackos. The main difference is that clean pony art is much more prolific and better-respected than in furry, likely because it's tied to a single popular and current cartoon show, whereas furry has no one super-popular thing at the moment.

Also, brony is relatively new and more orientated towards clean minds and children, whereas furry is much older, isn't focused on kids at all, and subsequently has a large number of "old" furs who probably want more adult things / kink out of it than the kids do.

Technically, a furry is someone that is a fan of anthropomorphic animals.

Just going by that definition, I suppose I would be considered a furry.

I wouldn't really call myself one though. I'm not really involved with it as a fandom.

I'm involved with fandoms about anthropomorphic media (Kung Fu Panda, for example), but not with the over-arching "furry fandom".

And like bronies that don't like the label "brony", I'm not really a fan of the label "furry".

And while this obviously isn't true for all furries, I find a lot of them seem to identify more with animals than with other human beings, many of them even wishing to be an animal or possess a kind of loathing human beings. Which certainly isn't me.

But like bronies, that's probably just the vocal minority.

I am a former Furry. I was a Furry before I became a Brony. But I lost my interest on the Furry Fandom with the time. I also know some Furries in my real live, but the most of my friends are Bronies and I have more connection to the Brony Fandom. I like Furry Art and I am everyday on FurAffinity (I also have a account there), but that's all.

Are you implying that you think the entire furry fandom is baed around sexualized furry art?

Ofcourse not, I'm just saying that I'm not against any aspect of the furry fandom. I should have worded my previous post differently.

I honestly think furries (the characters themselves) are really cute! Some of the designs are just amazing!
Though, some of the furries themselves as people are a little.. weird. But I guess that goes for us too, huh?
I think we're more alike than we admit!

I'd call myself a furry. Furry can mean different things to different people, so I hear... it can range from thinking anthro animals are cool, so having a fursona and a fursuit, and more, or anything in between. It just depends on whether you'd like to be called a furry or not (at least, that's what they say on the furry forum I get on from time to time).

I'm actually going to the Midwest FurFest soon, so I'm excited! Pretty much all my friends are furries. They tend to be very nice people, at least from my experience with the fandom. :D

It's just a bunch of nerds who dress up and play pretend. I can't really judge, since I do the same thing every time I play vidya, albeit with a different choice of characters. It's all just harmless escapism. As long as they don't really believe that they're foxes and leopards, I don't see any issue.

I am personally a furry myself (or I consider myself one anyway) so I have no such problem with the furry community. Most furries are rather friendly people, though like every community you'll find those who are not. So I have no problem at all, in fact I adore the furry community. :adorkable:

The problem is that with about every culture people tend to focus on the negative or extreme 2%. Examples? Voodoo,The Nation of Islam, etc... MOST people in these cultures and subcultures don't consider themselves to be radical unlike the 2-5% of its members that are blown up to falsely represent them.... It's a shame really. The majority should outweigh the extreme, but in this day and age it's hard for cultures to do so.

All that being said I don't mind furries they do their thing during their own personal private free time. Who am I to say they can't? What they do is their business not mine. Just like what I do on here is MY business not anyone else's.

I don't consider myself a furry, but i like anthro art, especially the mlp ones. However since furries have been hated for so many years now, i keep it a secret and pretend i hate furries so that people would leave ke alone.
