Moments in Games you had Trouble with

Ohboyohboyohboy!  Great thread!

  • ODST, Coastal Highway with all skulls.  (Save iron.  Would be impossible.  Still the hardest game challenge I've ever done.)
  • Halo 2 Legendary - pretty much the whole game.  Quarantine Zone is hardest level on Legendary.  I'm convinced that fighting your way through the gondala to Regret is impossible.  Hiding and getting lucky that they don't see you is the only possible method.
  • Metro 2033 Amoeba escort scene.  God, I wish I had known about this when I did it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLnCbLIqtHA
  • God of War series on hardest difficulties.  Most notables scenes - Protect Your Family God Mode, Theseus Titan Mode (hardest battle), Zeus Chaos mode, Challenge of the Gods 10.
  • Dirge of Cerberus - Misslebreaker Deathmatch
  • You Have to Win the Game - Cat mode.  Yolo mode?  Yeah right.  Also many parts of Extra Spicy.
  • Super Smash Brawl - Boss Battles Intense.  The one and only gaming challenge I set out to do that I have never been able to accomplish.  Very Hard mode, yes.  Intense?  Not even close.

Those are my worst.

I wanna try some of these "souls" games at some point...

I am ashamed to admit but it was early/midgame in Metro 2033(I forget the level name) but I was low on air and couldn't figure out how to get out of the room...there was a path to the left that i didn't notice till 12 or 15 deaths later...yeah...

On my first playthrough of ME3, it was when we had to face to Reaper and get the normandy to properly shoot the thing.  I didn't know what I was doing until 3 or 4 deaths later, I had to point the laser at the eye thing of the reaper....  Didn't know that at the time...

Kingdom Hearts 2, in the crystal gorge where you fight Sephiroth....I about had an aneurysm when fighting him, but after about a week of playing I finally beat him, and for some reason he was WAAAAYYYYY harder than the final boss too.

Hmm, what can I recall...

~Pokemon Ranger- one of the missions involved escorting a mechanic through a forest filled with bug type Pokemon... which he's terrified of. Some of the Pokemon are pretty fast and chase you, and if one touches you or the mechanic, he runs back to the start... it took a lot of attempts to get anywhere with him. >.<

~Super Mario Bros 3- world 8. Just... world 8. Still haven't managed to get to Bowser's Castle... >.>

~LoZ: TP- City in the Sky gave me a lot of problems, mainly in trying to figure out where I'm meant to go and if I can do something yet or if it's not possible until later. It was easy for me to get lost in it, for how large it was (and the music may have got on my nerves eventually... x3), though the boss at the end was pathetic. Also, the fishing at the start of the game may have taken me more than an hour or so to figure out... :please:

~Mario Strikers Charged- playing against the CPU, even at 'medium' difficulty. I remember actually crying about how unfair it was when I was younger, but I tried out the game again a few months ago to see if I had any better luck with them now.

I didn't. :l

Games That I had trouble with? That's a good question. If I recall correctly, these are the games that I had trouble with

Original Legend of Zelda (NES) - Couldn't reach level 1 although relied on sword beams too much. The other part is that I couldn't beat level 5 since I didn't have the blue ring and the magic sword, but it's quite a challenge and been wiping out to blue darknuts

Legend of Zelda: OoT (N64) - Probably on Ganon because I wasted too much MP on light arrows and came in unprepared without green or blue potions and filled my bottles up with fairys

Legend of Zelda: ALttP (SNES) - Probably inside the castle. Couldn't get further than that

Super Mario World (SNES) - Probably the special world that gave me a hard time clearing.

Mega Man 3 (NES) - Mega Man 2 Robot Masters that gave me problems

Mega Man 5 (NES) - Crystal and Wave man stages that gave me the most problems

Mega Man 2 (NES) - Quick man was the last robot master that I had to deal with, but the stage itself is what I hate the most.

Yoshi's Island (SNES / GBA) - I'd say World 6 in terms of getting the Perfect Score, but the Extra Stages can give me problems including Extra 1.

That's pretty much that I know about.

Odin Sphere's final bosses are so aggravating that I couldn't bring myself to finish the game. At the end of every chapter there was a boss that managed to kick my ass.

I've yet to play through the game a second time to retry though. I know I was kinda rushing and could have raised my health a lot more, which would have made it easier.

The one that really got me, however, was the mage who could only be significantly hurt by the flying swords he used as weapons. Hitting him with them was hard enough but he always had really tough enemies guarding him on top of his own spells flying everywhere. He wasn't even the final boss for that chapter. I gave up after that. There's a point where I get so frustrated that I put a game down and move on. Not worth my time.

  • 1 month later...

THIS guy from Metroid Fusion. It's called "Yakuza".

post-34384-0-06491300-1437585928.gif

In my first playthrough, it took me DAYS to beat him.

See the energy meter in the top-left? Those red things each represent 100 energy. Yakuza can deal 200-300ish damage by grabbing you and crushing you on the floor. That's ALOT of damage in a Metroid game. It also shoots fireballs from it's mouth. It has two more forms, but I couldn't find good photos of them.

Only one game moment ever gave me trouble.

The battle with The End in MGS3.

I was young. I didn't know the meaning of don't start on the hardest mode.

At least he doesn't kill you XD

Uncharted 2 on Crushing also had plenty of moments that were very frustrating, the train level in particular and the final fight in the game. If I recall you could only get hit once or maybe twice on that made fight on Crushing, needless to say that took me quite a few retries especially since developing a strategy was hard to do.

Oh Celestia, I finished all 3 on Crushing, but the train and the last bossfight was frustrating served in a bucket. Later I heard you can use cheats without disabling the trophies but I did it without XD

COD4: On highest difficulty, at the end where you have to fight trough an army in 9 minutes or less to deactivate the rockets. I think I had between 3 -13 seconds left when disarmed

Uncharted 1: On a castle wall, you have to swing and jump. However, wrong moment and you jump to short, falling to death.

MGR: I played it on Hard ... I'm surprised I managed to finish it on it XD

Killzone 2 and COD WaW: Especially the last level of both games(And the pre-last in COD) is a mass-torture with fast dying, infinity ammount of enemies until specific point and rare unfair checkpoints. Skills? More luck and skills to get trough that.

GTAIV: That mission where you have to follow the helicopter(Or train?) for minutes, wrong turn and you could forget it, then no checkpoints maded it really frustrating

Uncharted 3: On Crushing with those fire demons

The Saboteur: Some mission where pretty hard and unfair, even on easiest difficulty

MGS2: The VR Missions, especially the MGS1 Snake missions

And way more to tell

Legends never die. Ponies neither.

I was playing through Halo 4 again on Legendary last week actually, on the last level there is a bit where you have to take out 6 or 7 promethean knights (one of which can survive a rocket to the face, literally). I was just about to start that part when I realised that one of my weapons was only effective at close range and the other (the afore mentioned rocket launcher thing) had one shot left.

So, I had to try to lure them across a bridge over to me, as running up to them on their turf resulted in pretty serious insta-kill (especially as at least one of them had a 1 hit kill scattershot), and then once I had done that I had to try to take on the final rocket-to-the-face knight, who was armed with rockets and not really any way of me to get up close to him without giving him a clear shot at me.

I died more times than I would like to admit at that stage...

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, I was stuck at Mt. Travail for a few months. I don't know why I had such trouble with that dungeon. Was it the 19/20-floor length? Yes. Was it the annoying enemy movesets and typing? Yes. Was it my lack of decent items? Yes. Was it the fact I didn't want to waste Reviver Seeds? Yes. Was it the sheer amount of weaknesses between my two main Pokemon (Riolu and Eevee)? Yes. Thankfully, all other dungeons past Mt. Travail were a breeze. Well... not counting the Zero Isles and Dark Crater (All hail the Insomniascope! All damn Cresselia being forced in a primarily dark-type dungeon!).

In Skyward Sword, for Zelda, the Silent Realms. Every other boss and enemy in this game wasn't too much trouble, and it was a lot of fun (Currently it's my favorite Zelda!). However... those damn Silent Realms... I love them to death for being so unique and the amazing atmosphere, but goddammit those Silent Realms were some of the most stressful moments I've ever had, period. On the topic of Zelda, the Water Temples were very tedious and very frustrating. The only Water Temple I truly love is the Ancient Cistern. Jesus, that was a great temple.

In Pokemon Diamond, I was stuck on Gardenia for half a year due to me picking Piplup, and me refusing to use any other than Piplup. After a lot, and I say a LOT of grinding, I was able to beat her (barely). Thankfully, after Gardenia, I wisened up and got more members on my team of differing types. I didn't really have trouble with any of the gyms after that.

In Fire Emblem 7, I have a love-hate relationship between Battle Before Dawn. It's a great map design, great concept, and you get my favorite character during it. However... it's a Fog of War map. I hate those. Also, the position you're stuck in (having to split your party so you can rescue two neutral units) is frustrating as hell. One of them is being bombarded with enemies left and right, having a completely luck-based chance of survival due to his class (Assassin). The other is a really weak mage (best character) who, if you leave her alone, will die, unless you pray to RNG every night. They're also a reasonable distance from each other and your army, so you better pray that you have at least one RNG-blessed Falcon Knight on your side, and a decent amount of Paladins.

But on the bright side, it's the last Fog of War map! Yayyyyy!

I'm gonna dig an ancient treasure for this one, anypony play the Battletoads game? Remember the notorious "Turbo Tunnel" level? That's not what I am talking about here however, I am talking about the level similar to this, but uses planes instead and is probably 10x more impossible than the tunnel.

The level revolves on maneuvering through a course of lightning fences with small gaps in them to pass through.

hqdefault.jpg

This level is extremely hard leaving no room for error and it makes the turbo tunnel look like a joke.
