Woo MLP's back! I haven't been here since the previous episode airing in July and in July I learnt that MLP would be back in October. Only a casual visit 2 days ago made me see this episode was coming up this Saturday and I didn't miss it. Love the fandom instinct (:

Now for the episode, maybe the fact that it was the first episode im watching in a while, I liked it and nearly loved it, without being fan of Rarity featured episodes. It just felt pleasant, how it ended, how this boutique became a whole new beginning for Rarity, I like the development.  Spoiler: Before the end, I was expecting Rarity to completely abandon the boutique and get back to the old self or way of living after being annoyed by making the princess dresses. I like that she kept the boutique even if moved back to ... (will skip this for the sake of spoiling), and I like that we may see this new pony (Sassy Saddles?) that Rarity got for managing the work in future episodes. My impression of her is - she is really good at helping the business run, and may be loyal to Rarity in the future but in this episode several times it felt like she was going to do something evil. I would have felt a little saddened if Sassy had been let leave.

the episode, 1080p very good sound quality too, complete with opening/ending

That mare at the end... Where have I seen her before...? Oh, that's right.

Nice observation ;)

This week's episode was really great. The storyline was good. Rarity's song was good. But the best part was when Pinkie Pie said "Cupcake" at an inappropriate time. This also shows that to be successful in Business, you need to have a variety of sorts otherwise it would look too boring. I rate the episode 10/10

You know, everyone keeps labeling Sassy Saddles as a "villain." But is she any more villainous than the FlimFlam Brothers (I'm thinking more pre-Leap of faith)?

Both just did what they had to do make a business succeed. And, for the most part they were perfectly reasonable. Sassy had a business plan that she thought could help the business and tried to go through it. It was a logical plan that is used in real world marketing as well, so it's not like it was unethical or wrong. She didn't have any ill intent at all. Now, she was definitely wrong in doing all of this without Rarity's permission and even trying to override her authority, but she was in no way a villain. Antagonist? Yes. Villain? Absolutely not!

The word of the day is "Communication." There is alot of that in this episode.

The first five minutes of Canterlot Boutique are an extremely bloated, ham-fisted exposition dump. Every aspect of the episode's backstory, from where Rarity got the money to the exact plan of business, is explained in painful detail. The story, in fact, doesn't actually begin until about a third of the way in when Rarity starts making the princess dresses. From there, at least, the episode does avert one annoying cliche that the series has historically fallen victim to.

When Rarity and Slippery Sassafrass have a disagreement, Rarity doesn't let it stew until the end, she confronts her. The two actually have an argument about the boutique's direction in the beginning of the story, instead of saving it for the climax. I found this to be very refreshing, since it makes the conflict feel natural and earnest. If the two conflicting parties air their dirty laundry early on, then there's no awkward phase where they pretend like everything's just peachy.

Now, let's talk about the song. It would have been fine, but it just dragged on and on and on until I couldn't stand it anymore. We get it, Rarity, you're an "artiste" with "couture," and Suffrin' Suckatash is cramping your vibe. You don't need to sing two whole reprises of the same song just to get that point across. Instead, this episode should have cut down to just one song (and trimmed the exposition as well) to better pace out the story it does have. Remember what was wrong with Magical Mystery Cure? Exactly this. Shite pacing packed together tighter than a can of sardines just to accommodate a bunch of extra songs.

Savory Salamander herself was a total ham. I appreciate enthusiasm, but she didn't need to orgasm on every line just to show she was excited. Dial it back a bit; it's not good for your blood pressure.

As for the ending, I recall the Simpsons episode where Lisa's cat (Snowball II) dies.Lisa gets Two more pets, naming them Snowballs III and IV respectively. Finally, on the episode's closing, she happens across a cat that looks exactly like Snowball II, christens it Snowball V, but decides to call it "Snowball II" anyway for convenience's sake. To quote Seymour Skinner: "That's really a cheat."

And it was a cheat for Rarity to keep the boutique open and under the direction of Sushi Salavini while she went back to her "roots" in Ponyville. You're cheating by trying to tweak the status quo without actually changing it. You're cheating by making what should be a major story development little more than a technicality. You. Are. Cheating.

So, putting together all I did and did not like about this episode, all I really have to say in the end is: "Stop cheating."

As someone whom doesn't like Rarity (don't stone me to death just stating my opinion) I did kinda sorta like this episode mainly because in my free time (AKA all the time for me at the moment) I do a lot of stuff that could qualify as creative in the sense of making something and I understand the whole "try to appeal to everyone by just going with what's popular" thing which is why I just do what I want like other people should. I also enjoyed the goth pony, that I shall now refer to as Blackheart Nightshade because of reasons, just because of her being a juxtaposition from the way the world of Equestria is 99% of the time. Overall I rate it 7/10... Oh, and don't stone me to death because I don't like Rarity or Rarity episodes.

This episode was brilliant purely for the gothic pony and fat pony at the very end, which made me die in a pool of my own tears after laughing so hard. Being serious, though, this episode made me appreciate Rarity even more than I already do, and it featured a really well-written song that I'd like to hear again. My body is ready for more Rarity episodes.

The song was revealed named "Rules of Rarity" in the middle part. That's excellent work and rate 10/10!

And, Rarity visits the brand boutique in Canterlot with Sassy Saddles to put together with more dresses for everypony and look beautiful this way! :D

Does anybody think Maud's voice actor Ingrid Nelson or Tara Strong played this pony? attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2015-09-12 at 1.32.26 PM.png

I liked the obese pony! She's cute! attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2015-09-12 at 1.08.24 PM.png I wonder what her name is. I hope people don't complain about her being offensive like with Derpy.

It says the "Goth Pony" was Andrea Libman and the fat pony (I'm assuming, I'm not 100% sure on it) is listed in the credits as "Nasal Pony" voiced by Cathy Weseluck.

Well I guess we can say this episode was … (•_•) / ( •_•)>⌐- / (⌐_) worth the weight. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHH!

Anyhow, it was a decent episode. Yes, the whole thing escalated and resolved pretty quickly, but that’s MLP for you. Let’s see if they can keep it up. Rarity really does work best as a “mid or feed” type of pony who demands your undivided attention. Not intentionally, of course. She’s just that fabulous. I’m also glad she “fultoned” Sassy and kept the Canterlot branch. Sigh, poor Sassy: just another hapless victim of misguided marketing bullshit. Good thing she didn’t try to sell extra gems as DLC or preorder bonus. I really hope H-Bro learned an important lesson from this episode … Does that fat pony have icterus? That fat pony totally has icterus. I hope it’s not so big because of ascites or some shit.

P.S: Did I hear Pinkie correctly? Strawberry, cinnamon, cilantro? Dayum girl, throw some chopped paprika in it why don’t you.

Also, saddles are 200% canon pony accessory. Stick a pin in it folks. It’s done!

Anyone who has worked in a creative field knows exactly what this feels like. Being pinned down and forced to make one design over and over again is soul sucking for someone like Rarity. I imagine there are writers of this show who feel the same way, who probably want to branch out and create new and inspired stories for the show, but sometimes marketing and the fans who are obsessive about the status quo of how the characters "should" act get in the way of their vision.

The message, like many others this season, really spoke to me. As far as the episode itself, it was good, and certainly one of the better rarity episodes to be sure. I liked the song better than that one with the "pony every pony should know" bit. Pinkie was on point as she has been this entire season. They really must of took notes on all the bad reception Pinks got from season four. I'm also glad they didn't out right vilify Sassy; She was not evil, though I'm sure someones going to try to pitch it like that, she was obsessive and she wanted to make sure that her dream job didn't crash and burn on her all over again. That is why she had everything so structured and set up like a pattern, because she had seen failure so often she figured her particular formulaic way was the ONLY way that could possibly work.

cons on this episode would be: While I did like the song, I feel it overstayed its welcome in some parts, feeling more like something to fill up time than something helping the plot along. I would of liked to of seen a bit more of a conflict between Sassy and Rarity, where Sassy went into more detail on why she does what she does and what she feels killed the other boutiques. Something along those lines would of helped the transition of them competing and Sassy living vicariously through rarity to actually being a team a bit more seamlessly.

over all though it was a fairly solid episode, and I do hope Sassy gets more development in the future.

Back to Ponies, yay!

I think this ep is the weakest Rarity episode (Rarity Takes Manehattan still the best Rarity ep). The parts of this episode i like is Pinkie Pie  :pinkie: , designs of dresses  , new boutique  :o . The parts i dont like is the song (wait, Rarity  episodes always have  good songs, Right!?  :pout: ), the latter half of this ep is dull  :kindness: (maybe i just want the climax to be more intense). I give it 6.0 for Pinkie's part  :yay: . This ep is too close to be another "Princess Spike" type of episode. Come on, Rarity's episodes should be above average, THX  :(. Hope for the next Rarity episode...

Wow! :D

I've gotta say, that was one of the best Rarity episodes yet (in terms of the moral of the episode that is).

Seeing how business issues were in this episode, I knew it had to be resolved one way or another. Rarity, handled her business practice like any entrepreneur professional.

And I applaud her for sticking up to her business practice that works.

Pretty decent. I loved that goth Luna fan. I wish we could've seen at least a bit more of the other Mane 6 though, I personally don't like how they just...left the episode.

I liked her too

Hope to see more of her

i'm late to the party, y spent the whole day from Manehattan to Buffalo, in order to visit Neighgara Falls tomorrow...... Seems I have mistaken our world with Equestria... AGAIN :;p:. Well, I finally managed to watch today's episode. It wasn't an overly spectacular episode, but it was a lovely reestart to the season ;)
