So, is there anytime a video games music has made you sad? For me, it'll have to be Final Fantasy X's ending theme

I just find it so..sad, always tear up when hearing it >W< anyone else got something different?

Much like the above, there hasn't been many a game that has had me close to teary eyed as the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, especially since the main series itself isn't really known for being all that emotional. Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky hit right where it feels the most by the end of it, especially with the dialogue going on at the time.

"I have to get home... I have to get home... alive."

Hang in there my friend. :(

Then of course, I can't not honorably mention this. I don't care what your overall opinion of the ending is, you can't deny that this smacked you right hard then and there that the series, the characters and the world you've grown so invested in over the years; It's all coming to a close.

This would be the my first VG music that made me sad. A mere 7 year old me was playing OOT when my grandfather died and I've barely defeated Gohma and this stuck in my head when that happened

And as a deja vu, I've started listening to this one when my aunt died months ago

Most of Zelda Spirit Tracks give me a bittersweet ending of the happiest time I had in my life I'll never get back, but specially this one

So does this one in Kingdom Hearts DS

But this one is making me cry everytime I listen to it

EDIT: CRAP, HOW COULD I FORGET THIS?

Some of my favorite music from video games are the sad ones, the kind that evoke such a strong emotion that you can't help but be moved to tears. A few real tearjerkers come to mind:

most people would put John's death over this, but I think this takes the cake in Red Dead. It's just something about the act of moving on and having to keep following this guy that kind of grinds you down... You felt like Ft. Mercer was a huge game milestone; however, while riding through the Mexican wilderness at night with Jose Gonzalez singing, you feel like you've only just begun.

This song perfectly embodied the whole attitude of Walking Dead for me. It's the perfect blend of sad and happy.

I too love the song that plays at the credits of the final episode.

Another song I loved is Clementine's Theme from Season 2 of the Telltale's The Walking Dead. Watching the trailer for episode 4 gives me the feels.

Probably the first theme I heard that made me sad; at least, the first one that came to mind., even when I heard it without context, not knowing anything about Dark Souls.

Metal Gear Solid's debriefing theme, MGS4's old snake theme. There was a trak in Mass Effect 3 at a certain stage of the game that played, but I'm afraid I don't remember the name. Woops.

Well, kind of a newer track it seems but this one :

the arrangement is beautifully emotional, and the violins and recognisable motif's really hit home. It's heart-wrenching enough just listening to it by itself, but even worse when couple to its respective cutscene.

Oh man, another chance for me to go on about Risk of Rain! :D

Although in all seriousness, I feel like this game has slipped under the radar.

It's a great indie rogue-like, like The Binding of Isaac.

One of my favourite games for sure! :D

Anyways, that's a little off-topic.

One man who made the entire soundtrack, like in Undertale.

All songs have a very strong emotion attached to them.

But what I love most, is how you can just let your mind wander while listening to these songs.

They aren't necessarily sad, moreso somber or grim, I think.

it does get sadder when you know the lore of the game.

For me it was always the Song that plays when the Final Boss dies in Obscure :

Room of Angel from Silent Hill 4 is also a very emotional Song :
