What created that dusty wasteland alternate timeline in the finale?

There are season 5 finale spoilers (even if it's been two weeks already)

 

So I've been thinking...

 

The season 5 finale had a lot of alternate timelines, most of which were cut and dry, someone won who previously didn't sort of deals. All, except for one. The one that happened to be there when Starlight Glimmer was dragged to the future with Twilight.

 

This alternate timeline was completely barren, windy, and de-saturated. There didn't seem to be other ponies or even traces of life in the immediate vicinity. All the other villains already had their timeline's revealed, so...

 

who caused it? Maybe it was someone whom we would never expect, or perhaps it was a future in which no one won?

 

who? or what? We may never know.

 

But we can speculate.

I think what caused it was possibly a mixture of everything. Sombra war, Tirek, Nightmare Moon, plenty of other disasters happening constantly until all of Equestria basically destroyed itself with nothing left in existence.

Rainbow Dash was prevented from pulling off her first Sonic Rainboom as a filly. Many years later, she attempted it as a full grown mare. She managed to get up to Rainboom speed, but broke a wing in the process. She slammed into the ground at full Rainboom. The resulting shockwave destroyed all life on the planet, leaving just barren rock and dust.

What if it was man that caused the last future outcome?

 

If the mane 6 had never met due to SG, and never become the element bearers to beat down every villain, then after NMM came back and sent Sunbutt to the moon- due to her having lost her connection to the elements, and no mane 6 to reform her, the older villains would return, either being put in place by NMM or defeating her, the tree of Harmony would send an SOS to the only other aU we've seen where the magic of friendship exists- the human world of Equestria Girls. (Sunset or Not, Starswirl went there first, and left behind not only a portal, ebb and flow of Equestrian magic without Twilight's stolen crown coming into play. So humans would cross into Equestria, and heed the call and assignment of the ToH, but the wrong human enters, and bam! Final barren wasteland future, all because SG dun effed up)

Well, unless those leaked drafts change, isn't too far fetched that an evil alicorn could cause such catastrophe

The PoD that made that fic into the Hellscape that it was, was just as much the Mane Six splitting up as the war with the Zebra. That entire episode was just variations on "the Mane Six never met/became friends." So one of them wasn't just "bad guy takes over" it was outright apocalyptic.

It seems we have a good discussion going here, from parasprites, to a villian war, and even Fallout Equestria.

 

But I have a headcannon, that all the villians started fighting, and the tree of harmony realized the world had no saviors and was doomed. So it sent out a wave that leveled everything, to wait for new life to form, as it had time and time before.

 

So happy, right? Like I said, we'll never know, but it's fun to make up stuff.

Is it safe to admit I have no idea what Fallout Equestria is? All I know is that it's based on a game...That I'm clueless about. Other than it features radiation, I guess.
