Official Complain about your day job [thread]

In these days of having a job nothing is sacred. You boss can freely have access to your facebook account making sure you cannot complain or criticize the workplace without fear of getting fired. But luckily here in the Everfree Forest nothing to your employer will be known!

So please let's vent together...

God, where do I begin?

I hate being called out on a job on a day when it's supposed to be my day off! Problem is if you say no to a job, you pretty much just fired yourself and will have a difficult time getting hired by another company or getting another contract.

I don't like being called out on a job that requires travelling long distance because most of the time it's last minute and really inconvenient if already have made plans. One reason why I make my plans to go to conventions almost a whole year before I go just so I can be sure I get the time off and keep my schedule cleared.

I have a real chip on my shoulder for dive tenders because my lifeline is literally in their hands and I hate that feeling that I could get hurt or killed if someone topside isn't doing their job well. I've been put in danger as a result of tender fault on multiple jobs and it just leaves me uneasy if I have a bad feeling about a tender assigned to me.

I hate doing a dive and I literally cannot see ANYTHING! I might as well be working blindfolded since that is pretty much what it is like most of the time. Just really annoys me but makes me more satisfied with myself if I do the job well.

There is a lot more to complain about but I'll just cut it off here. I love my job and I'm proud of it but plenty of times it is the epitome of being cold, wet, and miserable...

I hate it. I hate the customers, but I'm okay with my coworkers and bosses. I just hate doing retail, and it's almost that wonderful time of the year...

I feel you there. I've been working in retail my entire adult life, and I've hated it. I love my customers, I love my coworkers. My boss is a bit of a pain, but I can live with him. It's the corporate environment that expects you to be able to do everything they want done with minimal hours and for minimal pay. It's not the fault of the customers or the people I work with. It's the fault of a company that puts the bottom line above actually giving their employees the time and support necessary to do their jobs well.

Eh, but I live with it every day.

Yeah, I've had to work retail all my life too. Honestly, I get paid pretty good for retail, but not really "living wage" I guess.

The crazy hours though. Ugh.

I deactivated my FB account and my managers have no way of knowing my personal life. I work in fast food. I hate being a pushy salesman and trying to recommend high markup items to customers. If I don't, less money for me if I don't say it to a secret customer performance reviewer and my managers will point it out and everyone misses extra money. It's not even something that pays well enough to survive on. It's too shameful to tell anyone

It's not a bad job, actually. Neither of my jobs are. In fact, I enjoy them both oftentimes! The problem is that I work too much, and I feel trapped by this. One job fills Monday through Thursday, and the other fills Friday through Sunday. I once worked 83 consecutive days! The only thing that can break this up is when I schedule an off-day. As soon as I get a promotion at job #2, I am cutting job #1 for good! Too bad that promotion probably won't come until next spring... What am I doing with my life!?!

in general i cant really complain, I quite like my job, but its very stuck in 2006. The Dictaphone needs some new earbuds, the ones it has are like something from the 80s and very uncomfortable, the PCs all need an overhaul or upgrade, they still work on XP and are all from 2006/7 and very slow. the previous PA had a very unusual filing system, so trying to modernise that is a pain at times.

but other than those things, its fine here.

And this thread is where I would complain about my job.. IF I HAD ONE!!

But seriously. I guess some people don't have jobs and would be more than willing to have mine. It pays the bills. Supports the household. Stresses me the  :okiedokieloki: out.

Love my co-workers, love my managers... hate my job. My position as a Dishwasher/Busser is nothing but hard labor, we get paid the least (or should say we make off with the least amount of money), we're understaffed in that section, and are treated like we have the easiest job in the world. Me, and several others nearly quit for those reasons, but things seems to be getting better. Been talking with my General Manager, gonna try to get moved over so I can be a cook.

Words of advice, live close to your job, and get a new job if you don't like it, seriously! I've been at mine for 10 years, biggest complaint... an annoying co-worker that constantly sings XD and maybe that the AC doesn't work very well, despite it being an expensive 20 ton unit.  My problem is that it will be hard to leave because I want to move.  But yeah living close is a biiig big factor in life satisfaction.  If you live a half hour away, you are losing 5 hours of your life every week on transportation.  Do the math on that for a year or two, or a longer distance.

Edit: His singing is utterly horrible.

While it's not technically a job in the traditional sense, I don't like it when people don't send me payment when they win any of my auctions over on my EBay page. I've had several instances where I got no response or they said they'd pay much later than what I stipulate on each auction. Being an EBay seller is a side-business of mine that has proven lucrative, but again I've had problem customers.

I love my job, but if I had to complain about something I'd say the hours are hard to manage because they aren't regular from week to week. So I can't plan my week around my work schedule until I get said schedule in my hot little hands. Aside from that, I'm not allowed to openly discuss details of my job on forums like this or internet chat rooms, so I guess that's about as much as I can go into anyway. When I retire in another fifty years or so, you can check out my bio.  :ninja:

  • 3 years later...

I don't like mandatory overtime for my job, as it makes me work on weekends so I'm repeatedly working 13 days in a row and then 1 day off. This mandatory overtime has also lasted for a very long time now, and it's getting frustrating.

Where has this thread been all my life? :kirin:

My boss has been working from home more often, so he's not as accessible. Plus, he's been telling me and my co-cowkers that we're "too slow". He took files from me twice this year only for me to find out that he never even worked on them.

My workplace is currently closed due to COVID-19 but I will say that I work with someone who rarely ever does their share of work. They purposely leave it to everyone else and I am sick of it. I’m also not the only one who has noticed this. It has been brought to management’s attention awhile back but something has yet to be done about it.
