health How do you feel emotionally during the hoildays?

Seasonal depression is not a problem for me during late autumn and winter! Autumn and winter are my happiest times seasonally! It's like I'm the opposite of everyone. >.>

Things are a little depressing now that I've lost my grandparents. We had some traditions that broke down once they started getting sick. It's been a decade or so now. Christmas has never felt right since. On the plus side, this is the first Thanksgiving I've had off since 2011 thanks to no longer working retail.

New Year's - Sad because it's another year

I only really dislike Christmas and Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving was OK this year, I still had to visit my mom's side of the family (we don't get along) but my close friend was invited so I had one friend to be with for a few hours.  Christmas has lost it's hype, I have some things I'd want for Christmas, but I don't worry too much about what I get.  As long as we don't visit mom's side of the family (which we probably will) I'll be pretty OK.  Dad's side of the family is easier to get along with.

Fourth of July blows because I'm at the week long family reunion where we have to see mom's side of the family, let's just say they can be very insensitive and unfriendly and I feel bad around them.

But hey, things can change.  Maybe the holidays will be better.

Christmas is not the same holiday it was for me years ago and it was the loss of my Grandmother that started that change. It was like all the family traditions and getting together to celebrate just up and went with her when she passed. It does not help that since then I have had to deal with other tragedies during this time of the year and it has really just made me look upon the holiday almost with a sense of resentment. Maybe some day that will change, but not this year.

Although I will echo Envy's sentiment that Autumn and Winter are the best times seasonally although they sure as hell are not wanting to show up here very quickly. Did I miss a memo that Summer was just going to cancel its trip and hang here for the entire season? We are finally getting cooler weather the last few days, but nothing I would write anyone up north about.

I personally don't (usually) get depressed at all during the holidays.  In fact, I find snowy days to be far more beautiful and enjoyable than those blisteringly hot summer ones.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are both holidays during which I can kick back and relax, and just have a good time with my family.  New Years in particular seems to energize me more than anything else for some reason, and I usually stay up till midnight, jumping up and down and screaming once the clock hits 12:00.  I'm not sure why, but I just love the excitement knowing that a whole new year has just started at that very moment.  And then I usually stay up to, like, 5:00, just because I can.  :D

I enjoy the holiday season.  Halloween is fun, Thanksgiving is about family and deliberate overeating, and Christmas is about giving and getting presents to and from loved ones.  Yes, it gets cold, and I don't care for that.  Yes, I've burped four thousand times in the wake of Turkey Day.  But I generally look forward to the holidays and what they bring throughout these few months.

Feel pretty meh around Christmas Holidays.... I just generally hate winter and the cold in general. Winter depression tends to set in before the "holidays" and  I tend to feel withdrawn from everything until spring comes around again.

As for all other holidays...just another day to me. I'm not one to celebrate holidays, really.

I use to feel lonely because I didn't have any friends..

Now.. I feel nothing but retreat and dread because of all the time I wasted as a kid :( I only get a couple days instead of weeks.. The working life is a tough one..

Usually I'm really excited and happy. But this year..I don't care..I'm not even buying presents. I'm just giving my gf money and getting her to do it. I don't get to decorate..listen to my dusted Christmas music..I just don't care.

At the moment I don't feel well, maybe tomorrow before the New Year the situation will change. Usually on holidays I feel a festive mood.
