How old are the ponies?

I place all of the Mane Six as the pony equivalent to young adults, around the 20-25ish range in human years. For me the eldest are Rarity and AJ, with the youngest being Pinkie and the rest falling somewhere in the middle. The CMC are all prepubescent girls, like 9-12 as a rough estimate.

I've always looked at the Mane Six being in their late teens/early twenties and the CMC as being 11 or 12 or 13. As for others, I wouldn't be surprised if Spitfire was in her early thirties or something like that.

I'm going to add my two cents in and pretty much agree with the whole thread. The Mane 6 all seem to be in their early twenties, especially as they all either have jobs or own their own businesses. I'd dispute whether Rarity is the oldest, though. She may simply like to give off an affectation of refinement around everypony that leads others to believe she's more mature than her years suggest. Likewise, I'd put Twilight Sparkle at the lower end of the age range along with Rainbow Dash. Dashie's less mature, but, for all intents and purposes, Twilight's a university student. If I had to take a stab at which of the Mane 6 was the oldest based on her character, I'd say it was Fluttershy.

 

The Cutie Mark Crusaders I'd put at around 12, just old enough to start thinking about what it means to be themselves.

 

Spike I'd put at about 15. He's probably around that old in reality (at least, relative to Twilight Sparkle) and his mannerisms reflect that. His problem, however, is that he's a teenager still stuck in the physical body of a toddler.

I think I'm gonna go with the general consensus that they're mostly in their early 20's. Twilight and Shining Armor are only a few years apart and since most people I think tend to marry in their mid/late 20's Twilight would be about 21, so around the college graduate age, just starting out on her own. Rarity I'm going to agree is the oldest with around 24 based on that she has a successful small business. Fluttershy I'm going to place at 21 because she's been on her own for at least a little bit, however she's tricky to place because she's a year older than Pinkie Pie. Pinkie and Rainbow I'm going to both place at 20. The reason being is that Rainbow turns 21 (see explanation below). And I know Rainbow and Fluttershy were in the same flight class but Fluttershy was a weak flier and was probably held back so that's my explanation for that. Applejack is another one that's pretty tricky to place but I'm going to say 21 on her as well. I know she essentially runs the farm but it's a family farm so she's been doing the work since a very young age and is very familiar with it (grew up with a family ranch, first hand experience). Applejack is also a middle child though so you also have to keep in mind Big Mac and Apple Bloom. Big Mac would probably be about 24-25 being good friends with Cheerilee (young teacher also probably about 25-26) and based that the same gap between him and Apple Bloom is probably roughly the same gap as between Rarity and Sweetie Belle with the CMC being 12-13. So, going back to Applejack, her age can't be high enough as to cross over with Big Mac, but also can't be low enough to interfere with her effectively running the farm. Also, based on how close she is with Rainbow Dash, they probably have to be pretty close

You'll notice that all of the ponies are in a semi-circle around the front with the farthest back still being on the side. Hmmm, trying to word this so I don't talk a bunch of nonsense. Even though we know it's three dimensional with the depth and whatnot think of it like a 2D prop in a play and we, the audience, are viewing it straight on to give it the illusion of depth. But since we can't see it from any other angle, all the information has to be presented in the front where we can see it since they aren't going to tell us. (I'm pretty sure I still managed to make this sound like a bunch of nonsense.)

They are old enough to live on their own but keep in mind they are in a land of magic and live by different rules then ours.

 

They are still too naive, ignorant and immature in a lot of sense to be adults and Pinkie Pie DOES live with her parents still. They must be old enough to have responsibilities and in older times with the amount of stuff they have and since they have certain technology etc.

 

Taking everything into account. My best guess is that each of the six ponies are in between the ages of 13-15. The age gap between them must be short enough to have them peers and low enough to still be at that Naive and immature age while still having the Olden times responsibilities age group where kids took care of themselves at that age without being told etc.

 

So I would guess that Pinkie Pie is probably the youngest at 13 and the others are probably most likely 15....maybe 16 for applejack since she has the oldest sounding voice and embodies honesty and stuff Of course Rarity could also fall into this catagory as well.

 

They are all WAY too young to be in their 20's and be Adult adults.

Twilight Sparkles " FIRST SLEEP OVER"

 

Sex or dating I.E Boyfriends or Girlfriends or anything like that?

 

Have you ever seen them have adult conversations that deal with anything complex?

 

Jobs? Other then pinkie pie and rarity?

 

Talk about Rent, Food, Taxes or anything like that?

oh and not to mention that ALL of the obvious adults whom are clearly adults in their 20's or older are BIGGER then them!

 

Notice how differently Pinkie Pie's parents look from her or Big Mac or any of the other older ponies! Some are the same size but they all have a certain mature look about them vs our Young Adult heroes.

Well in this latest episode they come right out and show Sweetie Bell at five years old.

 

That alone blows away all the notions of age in actual equine ageing. So human years of ageing is now canon

 

Clearly she's now double + that age in current canon ( I'm guessing between 10 - 12)

 

Clearly Rarity is much older and I would guess around 22

I honestly only know one of their ages, and that's RD's. In "Pinkie Pride," Rainbow is blowing out her candles. I counted the candles and there was 21, so I'm guessing she's 21. I think Fluttershy might be the oldest, since, well, she was ridiculously tall as a filly.
