Has anyone heard anything about Princess Celestia and Princess Luna in this new generation 5? Are they going away completely or they getting some new character over-haul or are they staying the same? I really hope they don't do away with them completely I love Luna and adore Celestia.......

Everything we have seen about gen 5 is really early stuff, so we have no idea.

Apparently season 9 is going to be the final season, which is something that I am okay with, as I don't want the show to go on for too long.

Queen Chrysalis is returning in episode thirteen of season 8, which might make for the show's first mid season finale like episode.

And I am really looking forward to seeing how the whole friendship school will play out,  So far I see a good amount of promise in the season.  But I am making sure to not catch anymore spoilers after this, if any more get leaked.

Also that new intro is really something.

 

Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep felt like a mid season finale.

I would very much rather see G5 have completely original characters, with a brand new Mane 6, and taking place in its own world. As for the design change, it does have promise.

I don't have a problem with the show ending in season 9, in theory. I mean, 9 seasons is more than we ever imagined. I just hate how its ending seems to be expediated to make way for a reboot.

Season 9 will likely be 13 episodes. And the movie is far from a guarantee. The fact that it's still up in the air is a really bad sign.

Well, if they make the reboot different enough from FiM, there is room for them to come back for a season 10 if sales of the G5 aren't as good as hoped, provided they don't burn any bridges in the finale.

I feel like this needs to be said with so many people freaking out about G5. Everything that has been leaked about G5 is very early planning stuff, all of it is subject to change, and none of it is final yet. G5 hasn’t even been announced yet, and it isn’t even gaurenteed that season 9 will be the final season. Everyone remember that season 3 was supposed to be the original endpoint? 

If Hasbro isn’t satisfied with the G5 ideas put forth, or thinks it’s still too early to end G4, they might extend FiM’s runtime again, or decide a G4.5 is a better idea. The worst part about this leak is that it’s setting ideas in stone that aren't fully decided yet.

True, but they seem to be pretty close in deciding to end FiM. While it may look like it's set in stone, take into account that by mere lapse of time, it all falls into ideas, and the end of FIM is tentative for the moment. In the end, they are the ones who have to adapt to the tides, not the other way around. I'm ok for S9 being the last season, but at least give me a final movie with toon boom poneh

See? That's proof that nothing is set in stone. They are making ideas and plans, but in the end, nothing will be exactly as we are seeing right now

They also have those 3 "Specials" too, I'm wondering if those are counted as part of the 26 episodes for the season or not? If not, Season 9 could basically be a 29 episode season, which would be a nice little bonus for the final season, if that's how it goes.

No offence but... This seems kinda of a denial phase for you guys. If the next Movie is about the G5 and it's going to be released by the end 2019 it means it has been planned for a long time (I might point that the MLP Movie started its production way back in 2013 you know), and if concept of the new Mane 6 of G5 are already there, it means things are already in a production phase from which they can't turn back from. If the second Movie is already in production, it will be focused on G5 and will be released in 1.5-2 years by now, there is no chance for Hasbro having a change of mind.

So to cut it short: the S9 is the last one, and then the G5 will start. No chances of things going differently. Make a deal with that guys. Besides I personally think it will be for the best. The only uncertain thing is about the amount of episodes of S9 (both the sheet and the mail point it as final season, but the first says it has 13 episodes, the other 26. The Mail seems to be relatively recent though, as it dates back to just a pair of months ago, so 13 is more likely) but aside that.

The sheet I attached says that they want to end FiM ASAP (As soon as possible) in order for the G5 movie releasing after the end of it, and that makes me worried about the S9 being rushed like Hasbro did with the S3 by forcing the writers to rush it, and considering that De Lancie is doing recording work for it already in December makes me quite worried of that being the case. At the very least I REALLY hope that the second special which we could consider the series finale (even because in the mail it was asked to label it as 914 and 915 in production order)doesn't get the same treatment. I love MLP, the S7 was amazing, and the S8 looks very promising, and I'd HATE to see it ending on a sour note after so many fantastic seasons. Let's hope for the best.

To note, no one should remotely be taking ANYTHING in those emails regarding G5, or hell even G4 as final, hell S9 apparently was 13 episodes one month but then they ordered 13 more so now it's 26. The G5 stuff is SUPER EARLY pitch ideas and art, pre show bible stuff. It's quite likely a ton of things will radically change especially when dealing with stuff years off.

Basically the email that said 13 episodes was sent like a month and a half before this stuff and later emails and business presentation thingy, essentially what happened is Hasbro ordered Season 9 in two 13 episode chunks, they just hadn't ordered the second half yet at the time the earlier email was written.
