web What Is Your Opinion On Twitter?

I do not have an account, but sometimes read something about some current event or what some public person wrote. It's not that good though, difficult to navigate (full of retweets and such) and Twitter does not like the fact that I don't have an account, so it tries to prevent me from reading.

I hate Twitter with all my heart. It gives people with absolutely nothing worthwhile to say a platform where they can voice their opinion and feel important.

I came off almost all social media a long time ago, but Twitter is the one I especially look back at with the greatest amount of disgust.

Oh, Twitter...it's bad. I know, it's bad. Rampant toxicity? Bad! Obsessive virtue signaling? Bad! Getting attacked and banned over the slightest "defiance"? Bad!

Even he knows it's bad. :mlp_maud:

Despite the obvious problems associated with it, it can be fun to look around provided you stay away from said problems. I use Twitter myself but I only look at specific things and avoid all of the garbage that appears on it.

Never understood the point to such character limitation, so I never used it. In hindsight with our society lowering its attention span and patience, it makes a little more sense these days.

I find it interesting that a coworker of mine uses twitter for updates on various people they follow and some news, but thinks Facebook is evil and only has an account to access photos from their kid's sports events that other parents share.

I mostly use Facebook to check on how my parents are doing and rarely post anything myself.

I do t understand how people can put so much energy into social media sites, but then again this is one that I check on multiple times a day and find particularly more engaging. Maybe the shred of anonymity helps?

I think it's just fine. I just look at whatever my friend's share/post and joke accounts so I don't really see the worst of it. My only major issue is that because of its popularity, a lot of artists are put in a position of having to use it for their art for a semblance of an audience when the site is not at all designed for that purpose. That in particular makes me a little depressed to think about...

But yeah it's nothing special.

I think it's a toxic cesspool of a site that needs to be shut down. It contributes nothing positive to humanity, only irrational hatred and pointless drama. I will never make an account there.

Never once found a use for it. I personally believe it was the main influence on people not caring about actual discussion anymore. With the character limit, it promotes incredibly simplistic posts that usually provide very little substance. Now that's the norm for most sites regardless of a character limit or not.

Twitter is trash basically, second to TicTok. I started an account years ago to follow some of the VA's and crew working on MLP. I rarely go on there for anything now.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

Never used it. But that is also the case with most social platforms besides some small interaction with real life friends, when requested. I can only take so much humanity without starting to vomit my own self out of myself. But the problem is with me for the most part.

Update: Elon Musk apparently has the biggest share of Twitter at 9% and has been asked to join their board. Doesn't change how I currently think about the site but I imagine it might for some people, or at the very least be noteworthy.

It is a toxic cesspool that is everything wrong with the internet today: fights and arguments that start at a tip of the hat over tweets, and harassment is rife on that platform.

I despise twitter now, I do have an account, but I legit hardly ever use it anymore. Way too toxic, sensitive, and all around terrible place.

I don't use Twitter, only made an account to follow one person, but never even logged in again after that. I'm merely an outside observer who peeks in every now and then, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I have different opinions on three separate aspects of Twitter. First, there's the site itself. Ignore the people for a minute, except for its tech guys I guess. It looks like an interesting design, if poorly executed. There's a reason it drew in it's original userbase, and based on this alone I'd be willing to give it a try.

Second, there's its users. Truly awful people, not all, but the loudest and noisiest are quite awful. They're only outdone by my third point, the administration, the people running the site. They've taken something with potential, little as it was, and twisted it to their own ends. I can't go into details there without it getting political, so I'll stop here. But let's just say, with a recent positive change on their board, I'll be keeping an eye on the place for a little bit.

I've barely used twitter since I registered my current account in April 2020, but I've haven't been active since last December. But yeah, I agree with the fact that its too toxic. I've seen enough of that nonsense. I've just registered an Facebook account last night, but I still don't plan on using it on a daily basis. I barely use social media compared to MLP forums and anime superhero forums.

I stay the hell away from it. It's one of the biggest toxic wastelands on the internet.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
