Am I the only one who loved Show Stoppers? Am I the only one who doesn't barf at the sight of CMC? Am I the only one who noticed the huge character development of the CMC, from some almost background ponies to the actual thing they are today? And the song doesn't make my ears bleed. It was good.

I would have to say, Baby Cakes. The story was good and introduces 2 new characters. It develops Pinkie Pie and shows that she can be more than a, random party pony. Pound and Pumpkin have some of the best facially expressions, then any other character in the show. The jokes were pretty good and it was the first episode that had a lesson that was not about Friendship.

I would say Return of Harmony with Discord being the most dangerous villian with the combination of his evil / insanity / does not care about how his actions effect others and with wanting to rule Equestria. While Sombra was power and control and Chrysalis was about feeding her subjects through deception and manipulation. Discord was just about pure chaos and he could have very well done away with the mane 6 but instead wanted to break them and toy with them as a literal puppet master. To me that is another level of villiany than just being about achieving personal goals through negative actions.

 

The message of the episode was protrayed very good and realistic for me with Twilight have to deal with her friends turned into the oppisite of themselves and almost giving up on her friends after reaching her boiling point. Everyone I think has been there where friends have been too tough to handle given some situations but even with friendship not always being easy. It is worth fighting for.

If your asking for objective quality its going to be pretty hard. Whilst there are things that are objective(at least as close as we can get) to making a animated show(structure, composition, transitions, timing and spacing) many of those still cross over into the subjective. Not only that but I think most episodes demonstrate the great quality the show has to offer, it would be very hard to choose.

I'll agree with most people's choosings... Sleepless in Ponyville was a really humorous episode for me, had a great "Adventurous" feeling to it.

Without question, Return of Harmony. This was the only time the Mane 6 were not only pushed to their limits, but were actually *defeated*.   The stakes were *so much* higher than in almost any other episode, Discord was such a fascinatingly charismatic villain,  and it really drew attention to how special and meaningful the bond was between the six.  The strength of their friendship was put to the test by Discord, and it ended up kicking him in the ass.  Fantastic episode.  I felt like cheering at multiple points throughout.

Return of Harmony is a hands down for best episode award for me, I don't really need an explanation why I think that.

The Best Night Ever.

 

Not only this episode is a conclusion to the story arc we had through a whole season, but it also stars all six main characters. I love how it shows business of the ponies in great detail, often combining outcomes of their actions, and gradually goes from success to failure, with the pinnacle of it all being Pony Pokey song, or as I like to call it, Disaster Medley. Everything that could go wrong goes wrong and is summarized in a one and a half minute song clip, with Pinkie Pie singing like everything's just fine.

 

All characters behave the way they should, except maybe for Celestia at the very end of the episode. But still, Best Night Ever is my best episode ever.

 

P.S. Also this is the only, err, "season boundary" that is not a two-part adventure story. Cozy.

Seepless in Ponyville is my favorite episode and in my opinion is the best episode.  It had everything I would expect in an episode, humor, adventure, and some Scootalove parts.  It's nearly if not perfect.

Cranky Doodle Donkey is voiced by Rhinox. It follows continuity with "Baby Cakes" in which Pinkie Pie still babysits the twins, and the whole episode is the perfect balance of serious plotline and zany physics contradiction.

 

If you don't care about any of that, then...it includes the Smile Song. I rest my case.

Wonderbolt Academy is by far my favorite episode, it's a Rainbow Dash episode that built so much on her character. Though Sleepless in Ponyville comes close... Scootaloo episodes make me daww <3

Frankly, I'm surprised that Return of Harmony, Part 2 isn't on top of everyone's lists.  That episode had everything, but to the nth degree, because the stakes were so high.  I mean, at one point the Elements of Harmony were DEFEATED.

1. Winter Wrap Up (I can relate to Twilight, the song was great, and the resolution was perfect)

 

2. The Best Night Ever (a perfect ending, YOU WILL ALL LOVE ME!)

 

3. Ponyville Confidential (a small story yet somehow big, awesome, and exciting, the first CMC episode I really liked is my favorite for season 2)

 

4. Look Before You Sleep (Rarity and Applejack are such great opposites, and what a good resolution)

 

5. A Canterlot Wedding Part 2 (The song was great, the fight was awesome, and the wedding was absolutely beautiful)

 

6. Sleepless in Ponyville (Gave Scootaloo a good personality, Luna a new purpose, had cool nightmares, and a moving resolution)

 

7. The Return of Harmony (Discord's awesome, and the colorless mane 6 was a great idea)

 

8. Suited For Success (Good song and a very good Rarity story that shows off the pros of her character)

 

9. A Canterlot Wedding Part 1 (A sweet song, a great setup, I love Twilight getting mad and the twist ending)

Hello im back with more discussions. Its kinda obviously going to be about episodes. I would have to say     mine is season 3 episode 13 "The Magical Mystery Cure" . I love the way they made it into a musical, and think they should do it more often.

I'm not really sure 100% on this, but I guess due to the fact I'm a Fluttershy fan, and the overall quality of the episode, and just how many times I've watched it I'll say "Hurricane Fluttershy". However I love like all the episodes of MLP more or less(Just some to lesser degree I guess .)

yes it's true when it comes to it that fluttershy is super awesome. But for a fluttershy episode i would have to say that the "Best Night Ever" is pretty funny. The way fluttershy turns intro a "im going to get you my pretties"  I was total LOL!

Mine has to be A Canterlot Wedding Part 1 and 2 (mostly 2).

 

Loved the changelings! Their like demons, and that was one of the first episodes I saw, and I thought "This is not a regular girl's cartoon!" I like the deception, and I like the Queen. Fingers crosses she's back for season 4.
