Can anyone else see stars in their neighborhood? Like I used to live in the city and there were no stars but now I live a little out into the country I'm starting to notice them. Does anyone else see them are how many are there would you say?

I used to be able to see the stars. Then I took Toronto in the knee. :P

Yeah I used to live more north in the country but my family and I moved to Toronto and now I can't see a single star. :(

I live in a suburban neighborhood thank God and I can see the stars, some nights better than others. If I go camping and I'm at a nice, distant place, like Fall Creek Falls or Boxwell, it's spectacular because I can see hundreds of them.

I can't see too many in my neighborhood. I did go out in the country and get to see them in optimal conditions with an astronomy group a few years ago, though. Even then we're still seeing such a small fraction of them. It's mind-blowing!

Well it depends where you live. Being a science geek the reaosn u can't see stars in the city is cuz of all the lights n the city. But go out into the countryside, in summer, with no clouds, and u can see every star in the sky. Even the milky way on some days. I live in a suburb so i can see most stars. Mainly the more famed ones that form constellations

How many are out there though. Thats hard to say. Thousands. Millions. Maybe even billions. You can't count them all.

I can see them clearly each night it ISNT foggy as hell.

Stupid halifax and its fog lol.

I would estimate there to be about one googleplex stars in the sky (highest number named)

Thats about one and a couple of hundred zeros.....

Then again.......100 may not be enough.

I can see some stars in my neighbor. there aren't any streetlights on my street, so I can see a fair amount of them. Luckily,we're getting closer to winter, so they're going to be much brighter!

I can see the stars only really in the winter. At least, that's when I notice them the most. Otherwise it's really difficult and you have to be looking for them to really find them. I remember one time when I went a long ways from our home with my family for camping. We went outside and looked up,

This is pretty much what we saw. (Hey look mountains! We just happened to be in the mountains at this time!)

Simply brilliant. I could stare at it all night.

I don't live in a big city so it's pretty nice to go out at night and be able to see the stars. As long as it's not cloudy I can easily see constellations like the Southern Cross and Orion's Belt.

I live in a city, but it isn't heavily populated, so yeah, I can see the stars from my house. I live in Lowell, Massachusetts. You know, the city that brought the entirety of the Industrial Revolution to the U.S? The one nopony knows about?

Weather allowing, all I have to do is turn my head to the right. I guess living near the Cascade Range has it's perks if you enjoy all of that outdoorsy stuff. I know I do...

The Bodensee is not the most ideal place to see stars, since major cities are nearby. However it's not all that challenging to get away from them.

Even so, smaller-ish cities in the middle of nowhere in Germany aren't exactly known for their nightlife, so it gets pretty dark.

I live in the middle of the desert where it is pitch black at night, it’s just dark for miles, it’s one of the few things I enjoy about living out here is that at night you can see every star in the sky and there are surprisingly many.

I've always been able to see the stars from where I live. I don't live in a very big city so the light doesn't blur them out. I like looking at stars a lot at night... just gazing up there and thinking of the amazing things that lies beyond our small Earth.

When I used to live outside the city limits back in Las Cruces. You could see the stars with no distractions. And the air was clean, and dry.Which made it easy to have epic deep thoughts.

Where I live, there's virtually no light pollution. There's a streetlight across from my house and that's it. So the sky is pretty clear. Clear enough to easily see the Milky Way during a new moon. Its quite nice. If only the overcast would go away.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

I ******* HATE LIGHT POLLUTION!! I can barely see the stars where I live because of how much light there is. But when I go camping with my scout troop, I will literally sit outside my tent in a clearing with my sleeping bag and just stare at them. They amaze me. Plus it leaves a lot of room for intensive thought. It reminds me of how small we are in the universe. (And now I've delved into philosophical talk.)

I have barely seen any stars in the sky, and its an amazing sight to see the pictures, plus if you can't see the stars, its light pollution, and it diminishes our view of the night sky.

The more lighted your area and city is, the less stars you see:

I might just move to Canada. Just so I can see the night sky for what it brings to us at night. I think Luna would like it if we stopped bringing in all this light pollution.
