Which pegasus is the better flyer?

We've all known that Rainbow Dash is apparently the fastest and best flyer in Equestria, but now that Wonderbolts Academy is out, we saw her in a match with Lightning Dust. They seem equal in terms of speed, but this topic is about who's the better flyer, not the fastest, but also the most agile and...just better at flying!

 

Who do you think is the better flyer?

 

For me, I would say Lightning Dust in terms of agility, the way she could turn really quickly when they were doing the flag course. Also, she managed to get a time close to Rainbow Dash on the Dizzitron when it was at 3x speed.

 

However, I think they're both equally matched in terms of speed.

 

What do you think?

was I the only one who noticed a lack of Sonic Rainboom? I highly doubt that Lightning Dust considered something like that a possibility, and even if she did...what would it look like?

Though I must admit i did kinda like that Lightning Dust gave Dash a run for her money im gonna have to say its Dash

Rainbow Dash in my opinion. Her performance is rather exquisite, though not as graceful as I like.

Rainbow dash is best flier.

 

I don't like the fact that lighting dust is reckless, but I think in terms of an official race Rainbow dash would win.

Because I haven't seen Lightning dust do a sonic rainboom(Or anything of that nature) So I think Rainbow dash can go faster considering she can basically break the sound barrier.

 

So yeah Rainbow dash is best flier

Anyhow I'll vote for Dash. Granted Lightning Dust earns points for the dizzitron, but she also lost control of the tornado first and Rainbow recovered more quickly, which I take to mean that she surpassed Dust after the first day.

 

And until I see Dust whip out a Sonic Rainboom against gravity I won't buy that she's as fast as Dashie either.

As shown when Dash cut her wing, and a few other small moments, Dust was able to get through unscathed, often using her 'hooves tight against her body' move to do so, while Dash didn't get through quite as gracefully.

To that end, my personal head canon is that Spitfire and perhaps some of the other more 'top' Wonderbolts can match Dust and Dash's speeds if they were truly trying. As we haven't seen them race them yet this can't be determined outside speculation, so again, my head canon.

It has to be Rainbow Dash no doubt in my mind at all. She is the only pony ever that been able to be a Sonic Rainboom and break the sound wall. Making it so she can go faster than sound can. That is pretty darn awesome if you ask me.

I've had this in mind all along :3 The point remains. That wasn't the only time shown where Dust had a smoother transition than Dash did.

But seriously, Lighting Dust's arrogance far surpasses that of RD, as evident in the latest (and not-exactly greatest) episode. Dust's arrogance and narcisism will probably cause her to end up like Goose (in other words, dead).

We haven't see how well Lightning Dust flies under the pressure of having your friends plummeted to their doom. Rainbow Dash can (presumably) perform Sonic Rainboom at any moment's notice, and she can carry four grown ponies while taking an extremely sharp turn on the Sonic Rainboom episode.

 

 

Lightning Dust may know more fancy manoeuvring tricks than RD, but I'm sure the cyan pegasus has some of the strongest set of wings.

I think if Applejack had wings, she'd be the best flyer in Equestria. I personally think Spitfire's better than both Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust. But when you're just comparing RD and LD, I honestly think Rainbow has more will and dedication to flying, despite her arrogance. They both are pretty arrogant, but I voted for Rainbow Dash.

The only thing I thought LD was better at was at a straight 90 degree drop due to her technique. If I recall, there was a scene from the rear where RD was weaving giving the impression that LD was holding her back. As for the fact LD kept shooting off in random directions and sort of leaving RD behind, I see it more as RD being suprised by the sudden change of direction.

Granted that's only if speed is the main factor.

Id say given the proper conditions/scenario maybe Fluttershy. Though if were talking on demand and ability to control then its Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow Dash hooves down. As we saw in the episode, RD is a much more rational and safe flier. Just because Lightning Dunce- Oh I mean Dust, is faster doesn't mean she's better.

rainbow dash is still better imo. i think unlike lightning dust, her motivation and loyalty to her friends makes her faster when she has to be, hence why she is fast enough to perform the sonic rainboom  when she's saving her friends. its something lightning dust probably lacks. not only that, but she is also alot more careful.

Wow, I really thought there'd be more people voting for Lighting Dust. She seems to have the exact same skills as Rainbow Dash, but is less clever of a flyer. She probably wouldn't have thought of that cloud compaction thing.

 

I voted for RD and now I feel bad. And I'm sure AJ would be a great flier if she were a pegasus, Clarity, but she hasn't really, um, gotten the opportunity. That is, she doesn't have wings.
