Pinkie Pie is seen travelling with the Apple Family on what appears to be an apple delivery. Thoughts on what might be going on in this episode?  

 

They're singing about their family, and Pinkie seems to be included in their family here.  I think maybe Pinkie is missing her family, and the apple farm reminded her of her old life, so she asked if she could come along with them (perhaps they are going to Pinkie's family's farm?).  Maybe Pinkie is sad that her family isn't as close or fun as the Apple family.

Some people think its because pinkie is some sort of distant relation to the Apples, but I think that she is looking for help from the Apples to try and help her have a better relationship with her family (maybe because they are visiting or something).

Probably not. He was Clover the Clever's mentor "long before the peaceful rule of Celestia". So the timeline to the best of my knowledge is:

 

Starswirl born

Starswirl trains Clover

Equestria founded

Discord takes over

Celestia and Luna discover the elements of harmony, turn Discord to stone, and become rulers

Celestia and Luna beat up Sombra, crystal empire vanishes

Luna becomes Nightmare Moon, and gets banished

 

So, he'd be pretty darn old, assuming significant amounts of time passed between a lot of those events. I'd say the founding (or possibly Discord's defeat) through Luna's banishment is the "classical era", since Twilight says Starswirl was "the most important conjurer of the pre-classical era".

 

That said, I do hope we learn more about him this season There's always the "Starswirl is Discord" theory as well. Quite plausible, since he was at the very least alive until shortly before the founding of Equestria, and it's unclear how much time passed between that and Discord taking over.

 

As for the season 4 opener, I think the most important bits of lore we'll get are seeing how it works for Celestia to use all 6 elements of harmony herself, and finding out whether Sombra's curse had anything to do with Luna becoming Nightmare Moon.

Well, Applejack does state that Equestria isn't the whole planet in a way through the song.

I thought it was always a nation, not exactly a planet. The map look too small to really be a planet. Or, at least, too small to hold everything they have presented.

Meghan must be referring to either more character development for Rainbow Dash in Season Four or, maybe more elaborating on the Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo relationship in more episodes. Frankly, it could be anything.

Well, my already really big anticipation for season 4 has just considerably risen ! I'm pretty sure that RD's and Scotaloo's relationship will be elaborated on in season 4 but I hope other significant thing also happen to RD. More screen time for her is always good for me  ! However, one of the things I'll be most interested to see is how their relationship develops. So many possibilities.

Yeah, this is nothing but good news. At least some of this, has got to mean some capitalization on Dash and Scootaloo's relationship. I'm also hoping Rainbow Dad (or brother, for the few who insist on debating that it could be either ) makes a comeback into the modern timeline, as we have yet to see Dash's parents formally introduced, yet.

This is what I first thought, but then I remembered that Tabitha doesn't sing for Rarity, does she? That would be Kazumi Evans.

I had watched few videos on the spoilers but..... I know quite some ^-^ 1. Princess Cadence and Shining Armor are having a child called Princess Skyla. 2. ((IDK what episode this happens in but it does)) Luna invites Twilight over somewhere.... and Luna basially says she's going to rule everypony ((AKA She's going to be the only Princess)) and She turns BACK into NightMare Moon! 3. THEY ARE TAKING THE DERPYZ OFF D:

Luna needs to sing, there is no doubt about it. Discord having a song too would be pretty awesome, assuming of course it sounds really chaotic.

I expect more Applejack and Rarity in this season. Those two have been put aside a couple times to give more time for the other ponies of the Mane 6, and it would be really fun to see both fo them together again like in Twilight's slumber party. I really liked this angle that puts Applejack and Rarity like two sides of a coin.
