Do you like holidays?

I don't mind the holidays, but now they drain me both, in stress and money. As soon as i finaly have enough money to scrounge around, I have to buy gifts for birthdays, christmas, mother's day, whatever. I also dread on going to my grandmother's house for the holidays because my family is nothing but a bunch of greedy, self-centered assholes (not counting my grandmother lol) and i dispise them. I don't want to be anything like them or be around them and they don't deserve my attention. But I just got to suck it up and move on.

I love holidays!

Christmas did not become less meaningful to be as an Atheist. The roots of what became Christmas are really Pagan celebrations over the Winter Solstice and the days starting to become longer again. Winter is my favorite season, so of course I'll celebrate it! I love pine trees, Christmas lights, candy canes, and snow! I can't imagine myself ever not liking them, so to not celebrate the holiday would be sad for me.

I don't really celebrate Easter anymore, though... Because it's a celebration of Spring, and I hate Spring. lol

You know, although I like holidays, I can kinda get where OP is coming from.  Gifts should be given to people you care about.  AND CHILDREN.  Being a kid and getting stuff is awesome.  But now that I'm an adult, I can buy the things I need, and I really only want to exchange gifs with those I'm really close to.  I also don't care too much about spending time with family, like the anti-social internet nerd that I am.

I love you.

I despise the over-commercialization of holidays, especially Christmas.  So much so that I refuse to give or accept gifts from anyone with a couple exceptions unless the item was hand-made by me or the other person.  A person's depth of love should not be measured by the depth of one's bank account.

When Christmas roles around, I just want to enjoy the lights and other decorations.  I don't really celebrate any other holiday, unless Shark Week counts.

I really do like meeting my family again after a while, but I hate all the insults. They say, "Youre so skinny, you should get fatter. Why are you so boring?" It's the same routine every time.

I love the holidays.

I get to see my family, and usually people are in a better mood than they normally are. Plus I love fall and winter.

Honestly, not really. I used to get really excited for holidays when I was younger, but now not so much. The holidays just feel like typical days now.

The only holidays that matter are Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Why?

Candy, feasts, and material goods.

July 4th has just become sickeningly ironic.

Holidays are great for family gatherings, but I'm at college and I live two hours away from home by car. Gas hasn't been getting any cheaper, either. And there are a lot of holidays at this time of the year. I feel like, since I don't really have a job, I'm kind of obligated to go see my family for the holidays and that always screws up my budget. Not that it's about the money, but I have a pretty meager budget. Like, when I go home and come back to school, I'll burn through an entire tank of gas...Well when I'm at school, a tank of gas goes a whole month for me.

Then there's all the adverts. I mean, I live in the United States. We are blasted with ads every time we turn around. And the holidays are particularly terrible about it. Especially with Black Friday. I mean, people get very greedy at this time of the year.

Sure I like holidays, but I need to be with family or my loved one to be able to enjoy it. If I'm alone I despise it with a passion.

Depending on how busy your life has been I feel as though you can really come to appreciate the time holidays give you. Whenever i've had a particularly hectic and busy time in college whether it be through assignments due or performance rehearsals or other matters, it really gives me joy to come to the end of a term and have time to recuperate and catch up on life, friends and family. :)

I like some holidays like Christmas... Thanksgiving is ok but I don't like most the food that people make...

Idk my family hard to be around too... I don't like spending a lot of time with them.. We are all different so its hard to even talk to them sometimes... The most I can actuallly stand more then a few hours is my sister because we have things to actually talk about.

New Years is fun getting to drink apple cider and getting to start over once again xD

I mainly like the breaks I get from them. I don't really fancy any holiday, except maybe Thanksgiving since one eats a lot :nom:.

I love Holidays!

I love seeing my family, my boyfriend's family, the good food, pretty-much everything about this time of year. I'm fairly social so I'm not to bothered by all the people, and it helps that my family is generally awesome (the odd uncle aside). We're not religious or anything, so we don't get into Christmas because of that, but it's more-so that we have developed traditions that have carried through the years.

I used to like holidays well enough despite the fact that I would often deal with depression during certain holidays due to all the loved ones I have lost over the years and things in general just not being the same but once I got into the grocery business I have really gotten to completely and thoroughly despise holidays. Those of you that work retail will understand EXACTLY what I am talking about. Business goes up dramatically, there is never enough help and you have to deal with a huge mess and not just the day before the holiday, the day of or even the day after. I work the dairy department and the warehouse sent all the Thanksgiving stuff a few weeks before the holiday and it took a week to finally make some room in that cooler until they sent me even more shit. This of course on top of the size of the orders going up considerably to keep up with the increase in business.

Because of this I have to make sacrifices to make room so I can do my job and one of those is to worry about the shelves later while I build up displays so I can get rid of as much of this Thanksgiving stuff as possible. A sacrifice my assistant manager did not understand no matter how much I tried to explain to that moron which caused the son of a bitch to write me up for supposedly doing a crappy job the day before Thanksgiving. And then there is Christmas which isn't nearly as busy as Thanksgiving but with one major holiday after another I start to feel a bit like uh well this.

I like Christmas a fair bit, despite my family not really doing much to celebrate it and the absence of snow ;~; ... Aside from that, I enjoy the freedom some holidays offer, but I don't really have any feelings about them themselves, and I probably wouldn't even notice them sometimes. =/
