MLP is not about sexuality

~Fluttershy~

Recommended Posts

I have hear that some people say that you are/it is gay if you like MLP. I think it's not wat you like that determines wat sexuality you have.

Please tell me what you think about it. please leave a comment. I think its a realy important subject to talk about. wink.png

I've been gay long before MLP:FiM was around.Though I've had the odd hater comment saying "You like ponies? Are you gay?" Like the troll I can be,I say "Yea, so what?"This is mostly online for Xbox too. Otherwise, I don't really get any hate about it.

Yes I'm gay, Yes I'm a brony. so what? What's it to you?People that comment on you have to be gay to like MLP, must be insecure about their masculinity....(as it's mostly/usually guys saying this sort of stuff)

Being offended by being called gay just adds to the trolls ammo.

but im stright, i like my women alot. well woman. anyway.. I understand why people say if guys watch MLP, that their gay.. since well MLP FIM is targeted towards little girls, believe it or not.. ever notice there arent as many males as females? anywho, point is, dont talk about MLP outside the fandom, unless you feel compelled to get targeted :P

Well society has tend to be wrong about many things..they thought Aboriginals were a bunch of Neanderthal and needed to be fit and separated apart from each other into our society, well that turned out well...   I'm not surprised that people believe that you have to be gay to enjoy this. So when people say that it is not manly to watch this, i remind myself that there are army people serving your country that love the show, heck i read somewhere there is an army movement that is basing a charitable event using MLP.

Thinking that watching a show about ponies makes you gay has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. First off, who gives a damn if somebody is gay or not, and secondly how does watching ponies change a sexuality? dry.png

Also I see someone posted some furry porn here...Interesting! blink.png

Well, I don't know about being turned into a homosexual from watching MLP, but MLP has allowed me to discover my true self as a nu-trans fourth trimester transsensual Angst Profile ZETA-8 genderqueer pseudo-dyke reformed lesbiophilic heteromollusc.

It seriously does change your sexuality so beware! lol

Nope, just kidding I have always thought it was rather stupid and hopefully it's only a joke. I doubt anyone actually believes that you'll become gay because you like something.

Besides, I watch plenty of cartoons and not all of them in the norm. So whatever, only difference is that the people in the brony community are many so nice, so you can be yourself. So that makes it easier for gay and bi, pan, asexual people to feel accepted, everyone feels accepted.

Moved to Sugarcube Corner, seemed a little serious for the Lounge.

Anyway, I'm certainly in agreement with the sentiments of the title/OP of this thread, since most bronies are indeed heterosexual males, including myself- after all, I think liking a show with such strong personifications of female leads should only help accentuate one's heterosexuality, no? ;)

In the end though, it's a show for everyone now and not just little girls anymore, so really, liking My Little Pony is this day and age shouldn't indicate anything about anyone other than that they like an amazing show, all there is to it I think.

Liked boys long before ponies ever become apart of anything relating to my interests img-1990566-1-img-1379355-5-xtWXQl1.png

well it would be rather hard for mlp to turn someone gay, at least from a male perspective, who would do it?

Shinning armor?  spike?  Snips and snails?  *snickers*

but i saw a review from tommy oliver that My little pony tails was about sexuality being the anti FIM.

So you could say MLP is about sexuality.  Just not this generation.

The show is probably the most ungay thing I've seen. Of course their are some girly elements to it, but it's not gay :/ Why are people such homophobic douche bags who have nothing better to do but make false assumptions because they feel threatened?

IF i may?  Being homo phobic and a douche bag isn't a full time job.  (wait is it?)  I mean sure when someone gets up in the morning who's homo phobic and or a douche bag they walk over and kick something small and defenseless to awaken their powers, every day, on the day with out fail.  Children, small animals, if their in a pinch they use a plushie of something lovable.

that small action gives them a burst of energy for a good 4-6 hours, now to maintain that power, half hour to hour bursts they need to commit small minor acts of douchery.

Now back in the day they were forced to walk around lethargic unable to feed in most cases, but with the advent of the internet, they can get those small bursts even away from home no fuss no muss.

I never listen to people who call me gay for watching MLP.  It makes no sense whatsoever.  You can't be branded a homosexual just because you watch a show for little girls.  The show itself has no homosexuality in it, just good themes like friendship and stuff.  Just because I watch "Hannibal" doesn't mean i'm a cannibal murderer.  Btw that show is really good, can't wait for season 2.  I don't really get mad if someone calls me gay for watching MLP, it just annoys me a bit that people are so stupid sometimes.

I was bisexual before I started watching MLP. Besides I'd say playing shooting games makes people gay considering all the trash talk people say to each other during those games haha.

I have an online friend who happens to be transgendered, bisexual and pretty liberal. After I gave a brief review of the MLP season 3 finale on my Facebook page and she found out I was a brony, she posting this exact meme and told me I had found myself in a book:

Ah, good times.

Yeah, the whole 'liking girly things = gay' thing is not only a load of BS, but in many cases, it couldn't be further from the truth. In the case of FiM, we have a cast of six females who are not only strong (each in their own way), but all possess something that's nearly unheard of in male-oriented shows: Genuine personality. Sure, there are plenty of female characters in male-oriented shows who are portrayed as strong, but often at the cost of not giving them any kind of real character development or relatability - they just come off as bitchy "token strong chicks". FiM's heroines, I actually find relatable...hell, I even find Rarity, the antithesis of masculinity, relatable on multiple levels as well. That's what makes the show so excellent, and that's why I'd take a 'girly' show featuring genuinely developed females over 'manly' shows and their vapid bimbos any day of the week.

So yeah, dun' impact our sexualities in the slightest. Shit, if anything, I think it teaches straight men to appreciate women for their intrinsic worth, not the superficial BS.

I'm Straight, i mean, i think i am (#neverhadagf)

But watching My little pony is breaking/fighting the gender stereotypes, Take baby clothes for example: when i was born, i was put in a blue pram, i was given a blue t-shirt and little blue shoes to wear too. but that doesn't make me boyish, I live in a very football based  town, were almost every boy in my high school likes/plays football, Except for my friends and a few other people.

I wouldn’t say liking a cartoon programme that has slight feminine overtones (is that the right word?) or any form of entertainment makes somebody any sexuality.

Sexuality is who you find sexually attractive and we haven’t got any control over who we find attractive and we can't change it.

In the mind of those who don't know : MLP = Little Girls = Gay or pervert ;choose your destiny.

In the mind of those who know: MLP = meme and there's nothing more to add

People who don't understand bronies just don't know enough to understand, whether they try or not.

I think it is way too obvious, but I'll tell something that I think everyone here knows. My Little Pony is a TV show. It does not affect You. Most times. But when it does it NEVER changes Your orientation. It's like saying that everyone who enjoys "Saw" is sadistic murderer and should be taken down until he will hurt someone. IMO "haters" keep saying crap like "watching MLP makes You gay" to justify their actions. And for pure trolling as well. It's easier to hate something when You can mark it with proper things that are considered "bad" by most of society.

I'll make it short now. My Little Pony: Friendship is magic did not, isn't and won't affect Your sexuality. Case closed.

I agree. I'm straight and I've been called gay one too many times in my life. This show is so awesome, and saying that shouldn't make me gay. Staring at a guy's butt and saying "I wanna tap that." is what should make me gay.

Once again, people seem to forget that the type of media you enjoy does not equal your sexuality. It might be possible to discover your sexuality after checking out the show, as it has happened to some people, but a good majority of the time you don't watch the show and think, "I'm gay now...oh well." Nothing wrong with gay people anyway. I happen to be bisexual myself but I pretty much knew that before I watched the show.
