Keys and Rainbow items

Winona the Dog

Recommended Posts

After watching today's episode, I'm calling it now:

The Breezie episode later this season will be Fluttershy's key/rainbow item episode.

What about Filli Vanilli, also about Fluttershy? I would think that one is more likely because she has to take "drastic measures" to help the Ponytones band.

Oh yeah I definitely think so too.

I don't know if this has been said or not but I also think

That next week's episode with Weird Al will give us Pinkie's key.

Eeyup, and I'm going to call more than that. Weird Al is the one who gives her the key. Edited by BalanceBrony

I'll admit I totally forgot about that episode, and it is a possibility, but I still stand by my opinion. Fluttershy is always big with animals and she's so hyped up to visit the breezies that I could easily see the key being a gift from them. Though I do find it odd they aren't airing the breezie episode back to back with todays like they did with Just for Sidekicks and Games Ponies Play.

And yes, I think we all agree that Weird Al is gonna give Pinkie her key ;)

you remember the box at the start of Season 4?

the box was there but no keys to be found. if you remember the episode Rarity Takes Manehatten, at the end, she is given a spool of thread that had a rainbow shine to it.

at the end of Rainbow Falls, RD is given a wonderbolts badge that shines with the same rainbow glint as the spool.

could it be possible that these two things are two of the keys to the box? or are somewhat related to opening the box?

Edit: okay okay, I'm now aware the colours are the mane six.

This has been said many many many times.

As a side note, the objects didn't flash rainbow color. They flashed Mane 6 color.

Well the funny thing is that those items are not really Rrainbow...if you look closely they're the colors of the Mane 6 lines up next to each other. So yes, it is believed to be associated with the box.

They shine the colors of the Mane Six, so it's likely that they are the keys.

And here I was getting excited! As it has been said that's a common belief now...

I also think that Pinkie pride will give us pinkie's key and the fluttershy episode about a band will give us hers... As for AJ's... Not sure

After seeing what happened in Rarity Takes Manehatten and Rainbow Falls, I'm now in the camp of viewers who believe this pattern:

  1. Main Pony in question in tested on their virtue in some way.

Rarity, her Generosity; Rainbow Dash, her Loyalty

  2. She makes a bad choice.

Rarity becomes too focus on winning the fashion show; Rainbow fakes getting hurt to avoid choosing which team to go with

  3. As she comes to realize her mistake, a rainbow will appear close to some nearby object

    201px-Rainbow_glow_on_a_rope_S4E08.pngRarity sees the banister behind which her friends should be sitting glow with a rainbow;
201px-Rainbow_shining_on_flag_S4E10.pngRainbow Dash sees a rainbow shine over a flag representing Ponyville

  4. A phenomenon I like to call the Rainbow Spark shines in her eyes.

     201px-Rainbow_glow_on_Rarity%27s_iris_S4
    201px-Rainbow_glow_in_Dash%27s_eyes_S4E1

  5. Knowing what to do, she does so.

Rarity goes to find her friends and apologizes; Rainbow Dash tells the Wonderbolts she's sticking with Ponyville

  6. This leads to another character learning the virtue of our given Pony. Basically, The Mane Pony becomes a teacher to the other character.

Coco Pommel learns Generosity in a "Everypony for herself" world; The Wonderbolts commend Rainbow Dash for her Loyalty.

  7.  The Mane Pony is given an object from that other character.

Rarity gets a rainbow-colored spool of thread from Coco Pommel; Rainbow Dash gets a Wonderbolt pin from Spitfire

  8. At Episode's end, the Object shimmers with a rainbow glow to the viewers.

You're right :) Though it bothers me a little, because episodes became predictable, when they started to follow this pattern. But I still hope that episodes about Fluttershy, Twilight and Applejack will be interesting. I have faith in the writers.

Do you think the episode with Rarity and the author will be the one where Applejack discovers her key? It seems to make sense since Rarity will be expresing dishonesty in the episode, trying to be like Applejack.

I don't think so, though you're right about Rarity's dishonesty. I believe that episodes with keys have the name of character in its title (Rarity Takes Manehattan, Rainbow Falls, Pinkie Pride and probably Twilight Time). But it's not really Applejack's episode, it's more about her friendship with Rarity and Rarity's fear of not being good enough for that writer.

My last post on this topic pointed out a pattern with this using Rarity and Rainbow Dash's episodes as evidence. But now that I have seen Pinkie Pride, the pattern has been shaken up with how Pinkie Pie goes through it. Before I repeat the steps I've used before, I want to point out the rainbows that shine throughout these steps shine not with the basic ROY. G. BIV colors, but with the

colors of the Mane Six (Twilight: purple; Fluttershy: yellow; Applejack: orange; Pinkie Pie: Pink; Rarity: white; Rainbow Dash: Cyan)

  1. Main Pony in question is tested on their virtue in some way.

It's not so much about laughter as it is about proving who's the better Party Pony. But Party and Laughter usually go together, so it's close enough.

  2. She makes a bad choice.

In Pinkie's case, she does this step AFTER she has gone through what was meant to be the later steps. Her bad choice was thinking Cheese Sandwich could ever replace her as Ponyville's permanent party pony and challenging him to a Goof-off; Letting her pride get the best of her

  3. As she comes to realize her mistake, a rainbow will appear close to some nearby object.

This time instead of appearing right before the next step, the rainbow that appears in this step appears about 7 minutes of screen time before the rainbow spark in the next step. For Pinkie, it appears in ripples on a river from Pinkie's tears.img-2272439-1-201px-Rainbow_ripples_in_t
     BONUS rainbows:

    All though out her lamentimg-2272439-2-201px-Pinkie_handing_cupcaimg-2272439-3-201px-Shoeshine_blasted_wiimg-2272439-4-201px-Pinkie_Pie_making_be
    and one during the Goof-off201px-Pinkie_Pie_%27What%27s_a_birthday_

  4. A phenomenon I like to call the Rainbow Spark shines in her eyes.

Like I said, the time between the Rainbow Spark and the rainbow that appears BEFORE that are much further apart compared to Rarity and Rainbow Dash. During the Goof-Off, Pinkie's attempts to outdo Cheese lead to her believing Rainbow Dash isn't having fun.
    201px-Rainbow_glow_in_Pinkie%27s_eyes_S4

  5. Knowing what to do, she does so.

This time, Pinkie believes she's been a terrible friend and considers leaving Ponyville. Her friends, of course, convinces her to stay.

  6. This leads to another character learning the virtue of our given Pony. Basically, The Mane Pony becomes a teacher to the other character.

This time, the other character Cheese Sandwich has already learned the lesson from Pinkie long before they even officially met each other this day.

  7. The Mane Pony is given an object from that other character.

Though considering Cheese originally got Boneless from filly Pinkie a long time ago, this object is returned to Pinkie.
    img-2272439-7-201px-Filly_Pinkie_Pie_jug

  8. At Episode's end, the Object shimmers with a rainbow glow to the viewers.

The Key Object shines earlier, but the episode irises out on the Object nonetheless.
    img-2272439-8-201px-Boneless_with_rainboimg-2272439-9-201px-Pinkie_and_Boneless_

Well with that, we got three keys down as we near the season's mid-point. The remaining three keys must be in the other half of the season. Will the pattern stay like this or will they go in a different direction? We shall see.....

So, "It Ain't Easy Being Brezzies" DID contain Fluttershy's key! I guess a pony's name doesn't have to be in the Episode Title! Bye, Bye Theory. :(

I'll be back when images are available.

4 keys down, 2 to go!

I was sort of guessing that Fluttershy's rainbow item would be something involving what she likes, like how Rarity loves making dresses or Rainbow loves the Wonderbolts, ah well. Nice to see she got hers, now all we have left is AJ and Twilight.

I suspect AJ will be the next one to receive her key. Knowing that in most cartoons, the protagonist is always the last one to achieve their goal, it will most likely be AJ who gets her key next. This would leave the door open for Twilight to get her key at a certain or critical time, probably in the finale at a time when all seems lost. Think of how the S1 finale ended when Twilight revealed to Nightmare Moon that the Elements did not reside in mere orbs, that instead they resided in the Mane 6 themselves, and that the spark was the friendship that held them together. I bet the S4 finale will be something similar, only Twilight will get her key, the box will become unlocked and opened, the Mane 6 will receive their Rainbow Power and send Discord packing once more*

*If Discord does turn out to be the villain for this season
