My parents love watching all sorts of reality shows, celebrity gossip shows, etc. Just saying. Need I say more?  -_-

Umm I'm not a fan tbh, but I think I understand why people enjoy it. Some people just love being nosy and being all in other's business, the people looking through the crack in the blinds at the next door neighbor or gossiping about friends. TMZ, reality TV, and celebrity gossip are the culturally acceptable way to be nosy and not be called out for it, so people like doing it because there are no repercussions for their nosiness.

Personally, I don't like celebrity gossip. I feel really sorry for famous people who are stalked every second of their lives and never get a moment's peace. So much is expected of them from people who believe celebrities are above humanity. I'm sure some celebrities live for that sort of thing, but that's their own problem.

Ugh I can't stand celebrity culture. I understand wanting to look up to people and respecting those with impressive accomplishments, but most celebrities are only famous because their career is based on being seen by lots of people. I don't see how that makes them so much more special than whoever else...

 

...but what I really don't get, is why so many people are starving to watch these people's lives crash and burn. It's sickening, like seriously, what is wrong with people having so little respect for privacy and relishing so much in the misfortune of others?

I don't understand why people care so much about celebrities. They're just like everyone else except a lot of people know their name. Give them some damn privacy, they don't need all of their secrets being aired. We actually had an episode covering that(sort of)

It's shallow trash, the antithesis of all good journalistic practices! Just because celebrities are public figures, that doesn't make it right to practically stalk them. For instance, I care about what's going on in Parliament, but that doesn't mean I should know everything about the party leaders' personal lives. That's their business, not mine or the public's.

I don't care about it because, they are invading the celebrities' privacy and that they talk about said celebrities even though we don't care about what's going on in their public lives. Leave them be, nobody freaking cares.

I think society puts too much value on celebrity today. I mean at the end of the day they're regular people. Yet we think that they may have brilliant insight to some social or political issue, so their advice is sought. We consider their visage to be the standards of beauty, and judge ourselves accordingly.

 

I really hate reality shows, especially on the fact that they're scripted, and don't truly reflect reality. The celebrity shows are even worse in my opinion. I don't care what a friend, of a friend, of a friend of someone's hairdresser said about someone. Besides its bad enough if one of these celebrities dies in a car accident, or due to a drug overdose, we get a week long news segment about them, and yet if something similar happened to one of us, you might get a mention in your local paper.

I don't care about gossip. I watch TMZ not for the stories but for the people talking about them. I like to see groups of people talk about anything and speak their mind than just read something off of paper. TMZ could be talking about locals zoos for all I care and I'd still watch it cause it's a group of people who speak their mind.

Seriously, who watches that?

 

They make a big deal out of everything! A celebrity walks outside and they turn it into some story that they have just came out of the closet.

 

WHO CARES?! People shouldn't obsess about famous people, and instead strive to be famous.

 

I can proudly say that I can't even name 5 celebrities off the top of my head. The girls I sit with at lunch seem to know HUNDREDS of celebs.

I usually don't care for it but I do poke my nose around Dlisted every now and then. Some celebrity gossip interests me but I generally don't really know most of the people it's about. Honestly, I kind of wish I did sometimes

Well I do love a good gossip(Especially old Hollywood Gossip it is so juicy!)

 

but in general I do gossip and read gossip.. Not out of harmful reasons but because I find peoples lives interesting.

 

However TMZ is pure trash and I can't stomach those fools.

I can't name too many celebrities off hand. But I never understood why so many people obsess over them too the point where they rely on TMZ and others to invade their privacy for the latest "news". It's stuff like this that makes my hope for humanity drop.

don't care for it at all. IMO it is simply pointless and kind of stupid. I mean don't we have enough drama in our lives, without reading/hearing/seeing about some famous person's 34th divorce or how they got cheated on and got their revenge?
