  1. Many of the songs I listen to are on Spotify, because I don't buy most of the music I listen to. So, the music in my itunes library is my absolute favorite music (Nightwish) combined with free My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic songs I downloaded, or other audio files related to MLP. Other bands I listen to (that wouldn't be in the list below) are Within Temptation, Eluveitie, and Finntroll. iTunes Library:
  2. I think I may have had one dream involving ponies, but I don't remember what happened. I was talking to an online friend of mine about lucid dreaming on Steam, and he and I are both going to try to learn how to lucid dream so that we can lucid dream about Equestria. There are things you can do to make it easier to remember your dreams. Firstly, it's essential to get enough sleep at night. From my experiences, if I get enough sleep, 8-9 hours or longer, I commonly remember my dreams. However, if I don't get enough sleep, I almost never remember them. Secondly, keeping a dream journal really helps you to remember your dreams. If every day you write down everything you remember about your dreams in a notebook or in a file on your computer, that tells your brain that you are serious about remembering your dreams. I tried this once, and I saw instant results. While I did this, I remembered all of my dreams every night. Unfortunately I somehow randomly forgot about updating my journal after 4 days, but I really want to start doing that again. I think I remember reading that remembering your dreams is necessary in order to achieve lucid dreams. I'm not sure how that works though, so I'm not sure if it's true. I'll have to do more research about it.
  3. I couldn't agree with this blog post more. What you wrote is exactly how I feel.
  4. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, whether or not I agree with them or like the way in which they are presented. I don't see why people feel the need to take the time to make entire videos expressing their hatred against a TV show. I mean, it's just a TV show. There's plenty of shows I don't like, but that doesn't mean I hate people who do like them. For example, I'm not a fan of Justin Bieber's music. But, that doesn't mean I hate Justin Bieber, or people who do like his music. Hatred is destructive and unnecessary, and in my opinion ridiculous when applied to people's media tastes.
  5. I like Cash Cab too, but I got a little bored of it after awhile. I'm not a huge fan of game shows, not that I have anything against them, I just usually watch something else. But, I'll list the one game show I do like a lot. The Price is Right - I have many fond memories of watching this with my dad at 11 am while we ate breakfast. It's a fun, diverse show, and even more fun to watch with someone else, so you can both guess on how much items cost.
  6. I know how you feel. I can't imagine parties with people I don't know either. Personally, I like really small parties with people I know really well. Like, one of my best friend's birthday party was just me, him, and 3 other guys, all of which I feel fairly to mostly comfortable around. So, that was fun. But, the idea of going to a party where there were people I didn't know, even if I brought one or two of my best friends with me, just scares me. Thankfully, my friends aren't the dancing type. We just hang out and play video games, and when we get bored of that we goof around in the backyard. I can't dance at all, I don't think I've even tried. Aside from those DDR games.
  7. I'm 16 years old. I was born on December 8th, 1996. Here are my answers to your questions. 1. I have never used a rotary phone before. If I understand correctly, they are the telephones with the wheels that you have to turn to dial numbers, hence its denotation as "rotary." I remember playing with a toy one in the nursery at church a long time ago, though. I do not know how to use them. 2. Well, there was an early part of my life when I didn't know what the internet was. When I was still a young child, I would use my mom's computer at her office at the university she is an associate professor at, since we didn't have internet access at home. I got my own computer for the first time when I was younger. Eventually, when I was around 10 years old or so, maybe 12, I got a new laptop, and that was the first time I had access to the internet on my own computer at home. Then, just last month, a few weeks before I turned 16, I got my own desktop computer with greatly enhanced capabilities, along with internet connection. (Both my old laptop and my current desktop computer have wireless internet connections.) 3. I'm honestly not sure. Maybe Hurricane Katrina. I actually didn't learn about 9/11 until many years afterward, because my parents didn't want me to have to know about something so horrible when I was at that age (5 years old). 4. If I remember correctly, my family did not use an old-fashioned TV with dials on it. At least not when I was alive. 5. I probably learned most about these things from talking to my parents about it, and watching the news. In school they didn't start teaching us about World War II and other violent/disturbing things until the 8th grade, and by that point I had already learned about a bunch of this sort of thing. However I did learn a lot more about the Holocaust then. When I first learned about these things I was so horrified that such evil could exist, I didn't know how to handle the information. I became angry and unhappy. One of the reasons why I love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic so much is because it has helped me to remember that just because all these horrible things happened doesn't mean that wonderful things don't happen, because they certainly do, and they are far more powerful than evil. I go into more detail about this here. 6. My mom and dad have cellphones. I don't have one, because I honestly don't feel like I need one. When I need to talk to people, I just talk to them on the internet, call them on the phone, or talk to them in person. 7. I remember using floppy disks when I was younger. I've always loved computers, and I did a bunch of experiments with them when I was a young child. However, I don't remember what size they were. 8. The last time I used the Yellow Pages to look up someone's phone number was probably a few months ago. Whenever I need to know someone's number who lives in my city, and my parents don't know, I use the Yellow Pages. 9. The first cartoon I fell in love with was the Redwall cartoon that used to air on PBS. I loved that so much. I also read the books, and continued to read them when I was older. I think there still might be at least one Redwall book by Brian Jacques that I haven't read yet. I haven't read any of his books for several years, unfortunately. I was very sad when I learned that he passed away. 10. Anything in the media from the 80s and older, sometimes even the 90s, looks dated to me. However, I don't mean that in a negative sense. I personally love older cartoons like Tom and Jerry, and some of my favorite movies are black and white movies. In fact, many black and white movies I've seen are so much better than many modern day movies I have seen. Some of my favorite black and white movies are The Bishop's Wife, all those awesome road movies with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. I also love the movies with William Powell and Myrna Loy. So, to me, it doesn't matter what era something in the media came from, cartoon or otherwise.
  8. I know how you feel. I'm 16 years old, and in 10th grade in high school. I've been shy and introverted for as long as I can remember. In fact, I'm more shy than you are. First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. This is just your personality. However, I'm also not saying that it's impossible to change it. If you want to be more talkative, there are things you can do to achieve that. However, you shouldn't feel like there's something wrong with you, because there isn't. The two things that matter are not harming anyone else through your words and actions, and being happy with who you are as a person. For me, I really struggle with talking to anyone who I don't know well, even if it's about something important. As I get older, I've noticed this slowly receding in magnitude. If I need to ask an adult for something, or if I need to ask another student a question that I really need to know the answer to to participate in the class activity, then I just put my shyness aside, and do it. That's worked out well so far. However, as for social interaction, I can really only socially interact with my friends. Pretty much the only place at my school I can talk to other people at is my lunch table, which has some of my friends and some people who are becoming friends. Most of my best friends unfortunately have a different lunch period than me. I never talk to anyone in class, or even when I'm around a bunch of people I don't know. Here's an example outside of school. I was at a concert with one of my best friends ever on Friday, January 18th, 2013. I'm 16 and he's 15, we're both in the same grade. However, it seemed that everyone else who was there, at least who I saw, was an adult. There may have been some high schoolers there, I'm not sure, but most people seemed to be in their 20s. There were two groups of people, one in a bunch of chairs on a raised balcony, and another fairly large group of people standing in this area right in front of the stage. My friend and I stood on the stage. Even though it was a small venue, I felt really nervous and claustrophobic. I would look behind me, and there would just be a wall of adult people I didn't know. Logically, I knew that if I had to leave to go to the restroom, I could just walk through them and say "excuse me," but emotionally it still felt like I was trapped. I remember feeling determined that I would absolutely positively not leave at all. Even if I had to go to the restroom, I would just hold it. Thankfully, I didn't get any strong feelings of having to go to the restroom. I was so nervous and I had so little space I even felt like I had trouble breathing sometimes. But thankfully, eventually I was able to get some more space in the crowd. At the second to last song, when everyone was cheering and stomping so loudly I got swept up in it and my fear started to melt away. It was an excellent feeling. By the time it was time for us to go, I felt great. I was still slightly nervous, but no where near as much so. From what I have read on the internet, you may be an introvert to some degree. Introverts often dislike small talk, and only feel like carrying on conversations if it's about something important to them. For me, I don't mind goofing off with people, but I can only do this with close friends. I also have a really difficult time opening up to people, so how I act around people I know and people I don't know is in such sharp contrast. One of the reasons why I love internet communities is it because it's easier for me to open up to people here. In real life I'm so afraid of someone making fun of me I only fully open up to probably one person, the guy I went to the concert with. I don't even fully open up to other people I would consider to be my best friends. I'm just really insecure, so I put up safeguards everywhere I go, even on the internet but to a much lesser degree. So, I can definitely relate to how you feel. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with either of us. Just as long as you aren't hurting anyone with your words and actions, and just as long as you are happy with who you are as a person and what you are doing in your life, there is absolutely nothing you need to worry about.
  9. I love the lyrics to all My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic songs, so I won't be including them in my list. Here are songs that, to me, have especially beautiful lyrics. I will enclose their lyrics in spoiler tags after each song name. Song of Myself by Nightwish Storytime by Nightwish Rest Calm by Nightwish Turn Loose the Mermaids by Nightwish Last Ride of the Day by Nightwish I Want My Tears Back by Nightwish Meadows of Heaven by Nightwish The Islander by Nightwish Amaranth by Nightwish The Poet and the Pendulum by Nightwish Pearls of Light by Within Temptation See Who I Am by Within Temptation Elysium by Stratovarius Reasons to Live by DragonForce

  11. Back in January 2008, I was on the phone with one of my best friends who I've been friends with probably since the 3rd or 4th grade or so. He had convinced me to sign up for an online game called My Lego Network (which I ended up having a lot of fun with - I even started replaying it a few months ago, but I got distracted and haven't logged in for several weeks). I decided to use the username "SupremeCommanderSturm." "Sturm" was the primary antagonist in a video game I really liked to play at the time, Advance Wars: Black Hole Rising. After that, aside from websites related to My Lego Network, I generally preferred to use the abbreviation "SCS." I especially prefer that nowadays, as I do not like having things like "supreme commander" or the names of antagonists in my username. However, I have grown attached to the "SCS" abbreviation, which is what I use for everything when I can. By this point I have pretty much completely disassociated it with what it stands for in my mind. "SCS" is now its own, independent name to me.
  12. Here are my responses to the MLP Forums Brony Census. What year were you born in? 1996 What's your gender? Male Favorite color? Blue
  13. This is an interesting question. I've always been fond of the Brachiosarus. They are herbivores. I would train the dinosaur to lift me up to really high places. Like, it could lift me up on top of my house. I could just spend an afternoon doing that. That would be pretty cool. It has a really long neck, you see.
  14. I haven't seen this yet, and unfortunately I don't know when I'd be able to get it. It looks very interesting, though. Judging by some of the replies so far it sounds pretty cool.
  15. I just couldn't imagine myself living anywhere other than this current time period, since I'm used to it. Things were really difficult back then, even during the Renaissance. I also prefer the modern would because of how far we've come since then. Yes, there is a lot of conflict today, but I mean, it was probably worse back then. Europe experienced practically constant conflict up until the end of World War II. It took awhile for concepts like gender equality, tolerance, democracy, etc to become widely accepted. For hundreds of years, governments oppressed citizens, and citizens oppressed each other. I would not want to live in a world before these ideals were commonly accepted. There are still problems with this today, but it is still better than hundreds of years ago.
  16. Here are my favorite fan fictions so far. I haven't read the entirety of The Death of Princess Luna and Not All Who Wander Are Lost yet, because I got distracted. I listened to a reading of My Little Dashie instead of reading it myself. The Death of Princess Luna (Hurt/Comfort/Fantasy) [Rated K+] My Little Dashie Not All Who Wander Are Lost (Adventure/Hurt/Comfort) [Rated T] Angel (Friendship) [Rated K] Nightmares Alive (Hurt/Comfort/Friendship) [Rated K+] The Setting Sun (Tragedy/Angst) [Rated T]
  17. I'm an only child, and I live with my mom and dad. They both like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I don't think they love it as much as I do, but they did like the episodes I showed them (especially A Canterlot Wedding Parts 1 and 2, and The Crystal Empire Parts 1 and 2). I've also talked to them about why I love the show so much, and they're supportive of me, and think it's good that I like MLP. 4 of my best friends at school also love the show. I'm very blessed to have friends and family who are not only understanding, but like the show too. I know that many people don't have that. If anyone, family or otherwise, ever tries to make you feel bad about liking MLP, just don't listen to them. It's not your fault if they choose to be close minded and judgmental about this.
  18. I love this, it is very beautiful. It has excellent imagery, and an interesting theme. If I may ask, what inspired you to write this?
  19. I wonder if Prince Blueblood is ever going to make a second appearance in the show. If I understand correctly, this was the only episode he was in, unless he was in another episode that I don't remember.
  20. I love this episode so much. I've probably re-watched it more than any other season 3 episode so far. It was a very inspirational and heartwarming episode. I can relate to it in the sense that one of the biggest obstacles in my life right now is fear: fear that I won't do well in school, fear that something bad will happen to me, etc. I often avoid fear, or problems in general. This episode reminded me that I can't do that. Until I face my fears, they won't go away. It also brings me back to the days of when I was a young child, and when I would have nightmares. I've felt how Scootaloo did in the "here branches branches" scene so many times. Overall, this was a wonderful episode. They all are.
  21. I read through the MLP Forums Official Resource Map, and I like it. If I may offer a suggestion, I think you should link to this topic in that post as well. As a new member, it was fairly easy for me to find most of the information that I needed, but I could not find an explanation for what the different forum topic activity icons like "hot" and "cool" meant since the thread explaining it was not pinned.
  22. I loved this episode. Something very interesting that a friend of mine pointed out to me that I didn't notice myself is that those two comets flying over the barn at both the beginning and the end of the episode might symbolize Applejack's parents. My friend told me that Lauren Faust had wanted to hint at the fact that her parents were dead, but didn't want to just outright say that in the show, because that would be too sad for a show intended to be appropriate for all ages.
  23. I recently finished reading A Separate Peace, which I absolutely loved. Next I will begin reading The Scarlet Pimpernel. Both of these books are required reading for my Advanced English 10 class. After this we have a choice between reading A Brave New World and another book I don't remember, and then Lord of the Flies. In first semester we read Julius Caesar and To Kill a Mockingbird. I haven't done much reading for several years, but reading these books for school that I really like inspires me to read more books on my own.
  24. Oh okay, I understand now. That's pretty interesting.
