mega thread Song Stuck in your Head Right Now
CT-1138 replied to Blue Moon's topic in Media Discussion
Right now I have "Who'll Stop the Rain" by Clarence Clearwater Revival stuck in my head. Probably because I was listening to the song earlier yesterday. -
In the "Hasbro Doesn't Value Customers" ring, no fandom alive today knows this lesson better than us Jurassic Park fans. Hasbro has crapped on us for the past decade with repaints of the worst Jurassic Park toys ever produced, tantalizes us constantly with newer and nicer stuff, and then rarely, if ever, releases it. This year is the first in 10 that we've gotten a half-way decent sculpt. But the two figures (yes, only two, then the rest of the line were more bad repaints) that we got STILL were not of equal quality to the old Kenner figures. Something you should all know about Hasbro is that Star Wars is their bread and butter. MLP, however, is a hot button. And look at everything we're getting from Hasbro from it. Think Jurassic Park would ever get such nice fan service. You wish. Take advantage of this fanservice while its still happening. At least we have an ear to yell into.

Could have sworn I saw this topic somewhere, but I can't track it down so here it is. What do you think the Mane 6's sexuality is? Rainbow Dash: straight (bi at the most). Twilight: straight Rarity: straight Fluttershy: ? She strikes me as the type of pony who'd be way too shy to be in a relationship, for some reason. I could go with any direction here. Pinkie Pie: anything goes. Applejack: I have NO idea why, but for some reason I feel like AJ would be a lesbian. Maybe I'm a sucker for AppleDash shipping, Idunno.

Would you report someone for Plagiarism?

I'm from an Italian family, and so culturally, have been allowed sips of wine at special occasions since I've been a little kid. I tried beer for the first time at my high school graduation party, and the only brand I could stomach was Budweiser. Most alcohol I find far too bitter. The smell alone reminds me of the vinegar I spray on a rag to dust my room. Never have drank enough to be drunk because, I honestly don't enjoy the taste. Moonshine has, ironically, been the only alcohol besides Budweiser that I've been able to down more than a sip of.

Handwriting or Typing? Which do you prefer?

Frankly, I think the technology is as advanced as the episode plot needs it to be. But, seriously, I'm thinking somewhere around the level of the early 1960's. Computers are becoming popularized for scientific study, projectors seem to still be popular, there's out of house hospitals, and locomotives are a convenient commodity where the internal combustion engine is not yet required in a place that has magic and everything small time is easily run by horse power. Remember, these ARE horses. WE used to use them as out automobile prior to Henry Ford streamlining the production process so that the family car became affordable to families who didn't see the vehicle as something other than entertainment. I think it's safe to say that, based on an episode such as "Fall Weather Friends", the stamina of My Little Ponies are equal to that of a real life equine. Therefore, something such as an internal combustion powered automobile would be more of an inconvenience in a society whose architecture and civil planning reflects the feudal system their government partly uses. A town such as Ponyville would find an automobile a nuisance trying to navigate itself through market place streets. Likewise, a car will find it rather difficult to make it up the side of a mountain, meaning that it would be incapable of accessing the capital of Equestria, which is very inconvenient. Nah, I think that magic is not only a greener power source, but a more convenient one. The Ponyville Damn likely sends power to the small amount of electrical devices that the town uses such as the library, the ovens in Sugar Cube Corner, the Ponyville Hospital, etc.

I'm a 20 year old film student born and raised in New Lenox, Illinois. I'm 5'10, 200 pounds, and I like ponies. Now, as for my personality. I'd have to say that I hold a little of each of the mane 6 in me. Fluttershy is my more timid side. I tend to be shy around new people in fear of making an idiot of myself. I'm also afraid of rejection of being wrong, so I have a tendency to listen more than I speak. I also share her caring side, and well, animals love me. Applejack is my hard working side. I never back down from a challenge I think I can win. Coincidentally, I found out this summer that I also have quite the green thumb. I also couldn't lie to save my life. Rarity is my generous side. I often try to think of others and that also ties in to my AJ side. I work hard because I don't want to be seen as lazy, or that I'm taking advantage of other people who are working harder than I. I like to give as much as I do receive, and am willing to go out of my way to help out others. Pinkie Pie is the side of me that tries to make sure that everybody is having a good time. I don't like to see people sad. I'm the guy at a funeral cracking jokes to cheer people up. Twilight is my literate side. I love books and researching, and look at everyday as a chance of learning something new. It's the reason I'm willing to spend hours on a Google search trying to find a reference to help answer a question. Rainbow Dash, ironically, is the one I have the least in common with. I share her value of loyalty and her love of pranks, but that's it, really. I think that's why I love her, though. She fills in the gaps of my personality. She's athletic where I'm more literate. She has egotistical tendencies where I'd consider myself selfless. She cares about popularity, where I'm indifferent towards it. She's the yang to my yin.

movies/tv Your favorite alien movie?
CT-1138 replied to Arcus (Silver Lining) Wind's topic in Media Discussion
Heh, ET scared me when I was a kid, too. I did a report on the cinematography of the film for a film class, and I honestly have to point out how dark the movie is. It's really quite frightening. There's little artificial lighting used through the film, meaning that most of the in-scene light sources are windows. And even then, there's a lot of contrast on the film's lighting. Bright lights in dark settings. The darkness of the film is only increased by the consistent fog effects. -
movies/tv What's your favorite movie? How about least favorite?
CT-1138 replied to Hollow Wind's topic in Media Discussion
My absolute favorite is The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Seriously, I could write a 5 page report, front and back, single spaced, half inch margins, and 11pt font on that movie (and I have, too!) Step Brothers, I despised! I found it vulgar and incredibly unfunny. It is the first and only movie I have ever walked out of and asked a refund for. -
movies/tv Your favorite alien movie?
CT-1138 replied to Arcus (Silver Lining) Wind's topic in Media Discussion
The theatrical cut of Alien and the director's dut of Aliens. They're two very different sides to the same coin. Alien is a dark horror film that plays on the human psyche, but I feel like the directors' cut somewhat ruins the pacing of the movie and I definitely see the reasons why Ridley Scott edited where he did. On the other side, Aliens is a great sci-fi action film. The producer's cut of Alien 3 then comes in second. The producer's cut introduces a lot of human drama that is cut from the theatrical release, and makes the movie far more interesting. The finality of the closing sequence is also the reason why I firmly believe that the Alien trilogy ends here, and not at that atrocious Resurrection movie. -

How often do you change your username/avatar
CT-1138 replied to NothingIsEverything's topic in General Discussion
Really, not very often. I don't change my username at all and don't expect to, but I usually change my avatar when I see something that I like more than what I currently have and just HAVE to show it off.
