New song Fit Right In released
Landi replied to abronymouse's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
I can't quite judge the singing aspect of it, due to being in a different language, but the visuals and lyrics (if the captions are accurate) are interesting. While there is nothing really new revealed, it does further showcase a few already known things about Equestria and the main characters. The song itself doesn't seem anything too special, but it's much better than "Glowin' Up" in my opinion. -
I'm wondering whether this is an actual screencap from the movie, or if it is just a promo image. My guess would be the latter, but I'm not completely sure. Also, an observation I have made; between this and a couple of the coloring book titles revealed a while ago, unicorns seem to be a bit more focused on than the other two. This probably won't actually mean anything for the movie itself and is most likely a marketing thing, but it is an observation nonetheless.

One Minute Clip Released
Landi replied to Tom Gallagher's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
It is an interesting little clip and definitely appears to take place shortly after Izzy causes panic in Maretime Bay. What is interesting is how Sunny not only thinks that unicorns can still use magic, but that they can all practice high level spells like lasers and mind reading. That probably goes along with ponies not really knowing anything about the other types other than rumors. Izzy seemed pretty surprised to see that Earth ponies and unicorns look the same other than one having a horn and the other not. This makes me curious as to how they will react to the pegasi and vise versa. As for other aspects to this clip, the voices sound a bit different than I remembered from the trailer. That being said, they still sound pretty good. The movements of the characters are alright; not as good as G4's, but still alright. I still am not a big fan of the actual ponies' proportions and design, but the backgrounds are very detailed and well done. Nonetheless, this clip does a good job at teasing and hyping up the movie, and I'm excited for it to finally release. -
bad episodes Things you did like in bad episodes
Landi replied to Steve Piranha's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Here are some that come to mind: Dragon Quest: The opening scene with Fluttershy was pretty funny. Rainbow Falls: While many understandably dislike this episode (I agree that it has issues), I do still enjoy the fun moments of the episode. Plus it was neat to see some more Equestria Games buildup along with Derpy's return. The Mysterious Mare Do Well: It has a few funny parts here and there. Newbie Dash: Like the last entry, this one has a couple funny parts. Equestria Games: The little bit we did see of the games along with seeing the pegasi try to stop the ice from falling on the stadium. Daring Doubt: Fluttershy has some cute parts School Raze: Getting that little glimpse of the weather factory in the beginning. The Ending of the End: It has some pretty cool action scenes. -
Two New Promos Released
Landi replied to Tom Gallagher's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
It's interesting how they are releasing these short trailer-like videos, even after releasing the main trailer. For the first one, it didn't give away any real plot spoilers, just some new dialogue and new clips. The two things that stuck out to me were seeing the seemingly invisible wires holding Pipp in a clip, and Hitch wearing what looks to be fake pegasus wings in another clip. The second one however, is much more spoilery than the first. Luckily I only watched it once, and I wasn't paying full attention, so I missed out on a few of the spoilers. Still, it did sort of confirm something regarding the story that I previously speculated. I'm not sure if I'll give this one a rewatch or just wait until the movie. As of now, I'm leaning towards the latter on that one. -
Vote for the Best and Worst Episodes of Season 8!
Landi replied to Music Chart Fan's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Season 8 is definitely the worst season in the series for me. This season has a ton of bad episodes with only a few decent ones here and there. It also didn't help that this season introduced lots of bad concepts from the awful School of Friendship to the bland Student Six. Here are the five best and the ten worst in my opinion: Best: The Break Up Break Down, Sounds of Silence, Road to Friendship, The Mean Six, Grannies Gone Wild Worst: School Daze, Non-Compete Clause, Father Knows Beast, Yakity-Sax, The End In Friend, School Raze, Fake It 'Till You Make It, A Matter of Principals, The Hearths Warming Club, Friendship University I'd say that there are more bad episodes in this season than decent, or even average episodes. For me there are about 5 decent episodes, 6 average ones, and 15 under average to bad episodes; definitely not a good lineup. -
Was the show really worth it (especially after the epilogue)?
Landi replied to PCutter's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Yeah, I'd say it was still worth it. I wasn't really all that impressed with the finale, and I dislike season 9 and especially season 8, but that doesn't change all the enjoyment I was able to get out of the first seven seasons. From the great characters, the interesting setting, to the fun stories, there are a lot of good aspects to this show which help make it such a great one. To this day I still go back and rewatch some of the great episodes of the first seven seasons. Plus, the fandom that this show has created can be very fun and creative, so even if the show itself was lacking towards the end, I could still find enjoyment out of the fandom. Overall I'm really glad that Friendship is Magic came out, and that it was able to bring so much enjoyment to me and many others. -
Best to worst Season 9 episodes so far
Landi replied to FirePuppy's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Here are my rankings as of now updated with both halves of the season: Common Ground Summer Sun Setback Sparkles Seven Frenemies Between Dark and Dawn The Big Mac Question The Point of No Return Growing Up is Hard to Do The Last Problem The Last Laugh The Beginning of the End The Ending of the End Going to Seed The Horse Shoe-In Student Counsel She Talks to Angel Daring Doubt Sweet and Smokey The Last Crusade Dragon Dropped Trivial Pursuit She's all Yak Uprooted 2, 4, 6, Greaaat To be honest, this is one of my least favorite seasons in the show. After my top five, the rest of the episodes this season range from average to downright bad. Considering that this was the final season of the show, it's unfortunate it felt so lackluster overall. -
Pick your least favourite episode per season
Landi replied to SpittyPie2005's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Season 1: Over a Barrel Season 2: Dragon Quest Season 3: Spike at your Service Season 4: Somepony Watch Over Me Season 5: Princess Spike Season 6: PPOV Season 7: Not Asking For Trouble Season 8: School Daze (Non-Compete Clause is a close second along with many of the other terrible episodes that season) Season 9: 2,4,6 Greaaat -
Fluttershy is definitely my favorite character in the show. She's cute, kind, relatable, and has a plethora of great episodes, one of which being my all time favorite. Seeing her grow throughout the series, and interact with all sorts of characters in all sorts of places was great, and the lessons she learned along the way are also very valuable. There is also her great design, voice, and personality which help make her a fun character to watch. This is just scratching the surface on all the great, lovable aspects of Fluttershy!

Is there a character that you don't understand why everyone likes?
Landi replied to starrymiss's topic in Sugarcube Corner
A big one for me is Thorax. There are a lot of people who seem to really like him, but I was never really a fan. He sort of just appeared to be a rare non-evil changeling, and that seemed like it. Then his design changed to be one of the worst in the series during the season 6 finale, and he was put into the role of leader despite not knowing much about leadership. His character never interested and it felt like he didn't serve much of a purpose. A lesser example is Ember. I don't dislike her character or anything, but she doesn't really standout or interest me in any way. Like Thorax, she was just there to be a leader, without much actual character or purpose. -
Pipp Song ‘Glowin’ Up’ Released
Landi replied to Tom Gallagher's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
I definitely agree that this is not a good song. It is the epitome of a generic lifeless pop-song and doesn't even sound like it is from My little Pony. This is the kind of song I'd expect to be overplayed on some pop radio station, not in a My Little Pony movie. Plus, the lyrics themselves are also generic and don't seem to even reference Equestria or ponies in general. I hope that this is the worst of this movie's songs, and that the rest will all be better, because this is not a good one. Also, if this is what all of Pipp's songs will sound like in the movie and series, then I doubt I'll end up liking most of, if any of her songs despite her being the musical member of the main cast. -
Episode you like that a lot of people don't?
Landi replied to pnylvr's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
There are a few for me; the big one that comes to mind is "Flutter Brutter". While Zephyr Breeze can be annoying, I enjoy this episode because of Fluttershy and her character development. Seeing her talk to her brother was funny at times, and it made for an interesting dynamic. Plus, this is the episode that introduced us to Fluttershy's parents and showed her old home in Cloudsdale, which I thought was cool. Fame and Misfortune is probably another example. Now, my opinion on this episode has been dropping the more I watch it due to it's underlying message, but I still admit that the episode can be fun to watch. If you take out the annoying message, then the episode has some pretty funny moments and interactions. Plus, this episode features the song "Flawless", which is probably my favorite song in the series. An episode I've seen a decent chunk of people dislike is "Hard to Say Anything". Don't get me wrong, this episode isn't anything special, but I found it fun to watch. There are other episodes along these lines for me, but these are just the ones that came to mind. -
Before vs. After Favorite Mane 6
Landi replied to Appledash4ever0's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
From when I first started watching MLP all the way to the present, Fluttershy has been my favorite of the mane six, so nothing changed there. Same can be said for my "least favorite" of the mane six, for Rarity and Applejack have pretty much been the bottom two of the mane six for me since the beginning. That being said, after Twilight became an alicorn, she started to drop a bit, and by the end of the series she was right there with Applejack and Rarity (I don't dislike any of the mane six, these three are just not as high in my rankings as the other three). -
My Only Hope for the G5 Special and Netflix Series for 2022
Landi replied to JMTV99's topic in My Little Pony: Make Your Mark
I agree that the writing should be kept consistent. Toward the later seasons it was especially noticeable that as old writers left and new ones came in, some of the newer writers didn't seem to have the same understanding of the characters and the world they were writing about. It also sometimes seemed that they didn't all have that same passion for the series as the writers who helped create it early on. That being said, I hope that G5's writers will have at least close to that same passion for the franchise as the original writers of G4, and that the writing can be kept fairly consistent throughout. -
While Friendship is Magic has a lot of great episodes that I love to watch, there is also a chunk of episodes that I dislike, some of which pretty strongly. The big one that comes to mind is "School Daze", This is definitely the worst two-parter and probably even the worst episode in the series, in my opinion. The big issue with this episode is not just all the bad aspects of the episode itself, but also how it negatively impacted the series by adding in the School of Friendship and the Student Six; two terrible concepts. Some of the other major issues with this episode include its uninteresting story, very poorly written characters, and confusing concepts and conflicts. There were also many examples of things that didn't make sense in this episode from the mane six becoming teachers despite being unqualifies and already having jobs, having a school to teach something that is learned through experiences, and other random things, like Ocellus getting not getting any reprimand or consequences for crashing into the school and almost crushing some students. This is just scratching the surface on how bad this two-parter was, and it's safe to say it's my least favorite one (School Raze is pretty bad too, but this one is worse in my opinion). Two other examples of episodes a very strongly dislike are "Non-Compete Clause" and "2, 4, 6, Greeeat". These episodes completely butchered the characters they were about, and were pretty terrible from start to finish. In "Non-Compete Clause" Rainbow Dash and Applejack were written horribly just to make the bland student six look good in comparison. It was trying to rehash a fun episode from season one, but it failed completely at doing so, causing it to be a gut-punch to any of Rainbow Dash's and Apple Jack's character development. As for "2, 4, 6, Greeeat" it also made RD seem completely rude and incompetent just to prop up some of the students. Not only that, but it's concept was just stupid from the start. The whole thing was just a setup from Twilight to "teach" RD a lesson, and it really makes her out to be an obnoxious character. It is episodes like these that make it seem like the writers hate RD. These two episodes, along with "School Daze", are my three most hated episodes in the series. There is a good chunk of episodes that I dislike or think are forgettable, but these three, along with some others, standout for being the worst.

The future Equestria shown in "The Last Problem" had some strange aspects in my opinion, but at least we got one last chance of seeing some more Background Ponies, new and old. Here are some of the notable examples of cool new background ponies shown in the series finale: Derpy also got one last appearance in the finale, and she is still Ponyville's awesome, cute and clumsy mailmare. Once again, I hope that G5 will have some cool background ponies just like G4 did.

Who are your top 10 favorite MLP Characters.
Landi replied to TheUnknownPhantom5's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Except for the top three, my character rankings for Friendship is Magic are always swapping around, but here are my top ten as of now: 1. Fluttershy 2.Rainbow Dash 3. Derpy Hooves 4. Pinkie Pie 5. Vapor Trail 6. Scootaloo 7. Sweetie Belle 8. Kerfuffle 9. Apple Bloom 10. Somnambula Considering how many great characters there were throughout the series, main, secondary, and background, this is just a small chunk of the amount of characters I like. -
Both of these specials have their pros and cons, but of the two my favorite would have to be "The Best Gift Ever". I was so disappointed by season 8 that I decided to take a break from MLP once the mid-season Hiatus started. However, when "The Best Gift Ever" came out, that break ended. While the special wasn't anything mind-blowing or outstanding, it felt like a pretty big improvement on season 8 and it gave me some hope back for the franchise. The special has some fun parts with interesting character interactions (The Derpy scene being especially memorable), and overall felt like a simple, but nice Christmas special. Another plus is that the School of Friendship was hardly, if at all, ever mentioned or shown in this special. Again, it's nothing crazy spectacular, but it is pretty good for being between two disappointing seasons. As for "Rainbow Roadtrip" it was okay, but nothing too special. My main issue with it is that the plot feels very slow and lackluster, and the town of Hope Hollow wasn't very interesting. That being said, the big positive with this special are the characters. From Petunia, to Kerfuffle, the Barrel Twins, Torque Wrench and more, there are a lot of fun, interesting characters introduced in this special to help make up for the somewhat boring plot. It's too bad that these characters were introduced so late into their show's lifespan, because they have some great potential.

New Princess Pipp clip!
Landi replied to Dark Qiviut's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
While Pipp is definitely cute, the whole social media pop-star thing could get annoying very quickly. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to get more of Pipp and all, but it does continue to raise concerns for her character. Obviously we can't tell what her entire personality will be like from a short trailer (hopefully), but it still seems basic and one-dimensional. Hopefully the writers can still manage to make her a good character despite being a social media star (It'll be hard, but hopefully still possible). Also, seeing all those ponies on their phones was sort of a gut punch. My Little Pony was in part so great because of how different it was from our own world; almost like an escape. The whole cell phone/social media thing ruins that whole aspect. On a more positive note, it is nice to see more of Zephyr Heights and it's inhabitants. The castle and the buildings look cool and Pipp's flying animation is smooth. Though I do have some concerns regarding G5's pegasus designs (not referring to Pipp since her wings look a bit different from the rest of the pegasi). Their wings are very strange and off putting and they seem to really stick out. The pegasi in this generation (or at least in this movie) look nothing like the well designed pegasi of G4, and it's unfortunate that they decided to change the whole wing design for seemingly no reason. My hope is that the series will somehow fix this, but who knows. -
I don't know exactly how they lost their magic (whether that be by a villain or domestication due to technology), but I do know that it is unfortunate. G5 isn't even out yet, but I am already heavily missing the fantastical magic-centered world of G4. Equestria and it's strong dependency on magic helped make it the unique world it was, along with the ponies themselves. To think that the magic and uniqueness of Equestria could be replaced by modern technology that just mirrors our world, is very unfortunate. If magic comes back in the movie however, that could help bring back some of the magical charm of G4's Equestria. Ponies might decide to go back to using magic for things and try to use it to bring Equestria back to its former glory. That being said, I doubt that ponies are just going to completely stop using modern tech if magic comes back, so unfortunately I doubt that magic would be able to reach its potential it did back in G4.
-
A while back I watched about half of season one, but stopped due to it all feeling like a waste of time. The episodes hardly have what could be considered a plot, the characters are poorly written and don't actually act like their G4 counterparts (PL Fluttershy being a big example of that), the modern technology is random and distracting, and the animation and writing all feels very cheaply done (probably because it is). Along with that, the whole potion and power-up aspect of it was weird and didn't really have much of a purpose. Overall the series is pretty bad from what I've seen. However, the series is so poorly written that it's hard to even take it seriously. The series isn't attempting to be taken seriously or actually be canon to FiM, and is just a chaotic series to sell toys in the gap between G4 and G5. So even though I don't like Pony Life and stopped watching it a while ago, I can't be too upset about it's existence. It's just a crappy, fast-pace, nonsensical show that isn't meant to be taken as something that is actually a part of the G4 MLP Canon.

Crystal Ponies are interesting ponies that are also a bit mysterious. The show never fully specified whether Crystal Ponies were their own pony type separate from the mane three, or if they are just a subset of the main three. Regardless of that, from what we have seen of them, they can have some pretty cool designs. Here are some examples of well designed crystal ponies: Something interesting I have noticed about them is that their mane designs are somewhat similar to those of the Pre-Equestrian pegasi. I wonder if their is a reason behind this similarity. Last but not least, the mane six look really cool in their crystallized forms. Here are five out of the mane six in their temporary crystallized forms:
