What if a villain immune to magic existed in Equestria?

Or worse: If the villain were immune to any kind of magic, and could do spells of some different kind of it (like anti-magic)?

It would really be something amazing on the series.

Is it too bad to be addicted to a game?

It would be amazing! I'm still waiting for a fight without magic/Elements of Harmony/Rainbow Powers or any other instawin power.

A villain that would possess Anti-Magic would still logically be effected by Magic, though they'd have a defence to counter Magic in the form of its opposite. However, if we're throwing out all those rules and make him/her absolutely immune to Magic, he/she would still have to overpower Equestria's non-Magic "defences."

So it all depends on the power of the villain beyond his/her immunity to Magic, though the simple fact that he/she's something alien would give him/her a psychological advantage over Equestria.

"Q'sal, a singular, labyrinthine mind composed of a billion conflicting, paradoxical wills. Have you ever seen the swirling Aetherstorms in it's atmosphere? Smelled the shifting perfumes of intrigue upon it's people? Tasted the gluttonous banquets of ambition permeating from the Sorcerer-Technocrats? Heard the exquisite lies and thoughts of an unknowable population? No Slaaneshi pleasure I have indulged in comes close to that feeling, only in the embrace of Apotheosis could one aspire to find anything greater."

i'd say they would send the entire royal guard + the nightwatch to put a stop to such a villain ^^

I somehow don't think that cranky is comparable to the likes of Tirek and anyone else wanting to destroy, take over, or absorb all of the deus ex machina in equestria. I mean, being slightly grumpy isn't much compared to taking over all of equestria temporarily, trying to stop day from happening (I guess the other side of the planet would just roast), Or anything like that.

They beat them with friendship. Case closed.

It would really be something amazing on the series.

Sombra is immune to magic and was also able to lock down the magic from an unicorn with his dark crystals. His dark crystals was capable of suppressing the magic from all the inhabitants of the Crystal Empire.

If the villain were immune to any kind of magic

It would still be vulnerable to anything else than Magic, I guess.

So I'm with @@Malinter, @, @@Lordav, @@AlbaTross, @@TerribilisScriptor, @@GuyNamedEarl on this one, with a honorable mention going to @@Venomous for using their minds ;)

Also, there actually is a Magic-immune villain in Equestria: the Smooze. He (or it?) is not only resistant to any kind of Magic, but he also seems to be resistant for many other things. E.g. one cannot pierce it with a spear or a sword, because he's liquid. Splitting his "body" doesn't affect him much. He's very sticky, so Pegasi can easily get stuck in it and cannot fly anymore, or their wings can be glued making them unable to fly. Earth Ponies cannot simply beat them, because one cannot beat liquid. Also it could be hard to confine him in some container, because any hole in the container would make him to pour out. If you watched some of the previous generations, you probably know that the Smooze was a quite hard villain to deal with, every attempts to get rid of him turned out to be hopeless and futile. And if not the deus-ex-machina solution – the Flutter Ponies – I guess no one would stop the Smooze. Quite depressing if you ask me.

But, as we could see in "Make New Friends But Keep Discord", there is a little way to tame the Smooze: music & vibrations. The Tree Hugger knew it somehow, and it seemed to work very well. So I restate my opinion that being resistant to Magic doesn't mean that one is invincible.

That would be a time for Earth Ponies and Pegasi to shine. Eat party favors...courtesy of Pinkie's party cannon!

I would be more than happy to see the problem be solved without Magic.

But when I think of it, we didn't see much of the Unicorns using their Magic in combat as well, besides Twilight Sparkle, Trixie Lullamoon, and of course the Alicorn Princesses. Rarity used her horn several times, but nothing spectacular. The best we could see was when she shoot lasers at the monster dresses, but it was just a dream, so we don't really know if she could use it in real life combat as well. And it's also not very sophisticated spell. It's kind of a waste of potential to me that in a world inhabited with magical Unicorns, we don't really see much variety of spells used by them. Just levitation & illumination, the most basic types of spells every Unicorn learns as a foal. But besides Twilight, Trixie and the Princesses, no Unicorn is really using Magic for anything more spectacular or sophisticated. (Therefore I put much of my hope in Sweetie Belle, since she now terminates at Twilight's. Perhaps she will learn some more sophisticated Magic from her?)

Yeah. People seem to forget about Season 4.

As I noticed once in a different thread, Season 4 was quite important for character development of the Mane Six and the entire show. Because once they needed to return the Elements of Harmony back to the Tree of Harmony, they seemingly made themselves and the entire Equestria vulnerable for all sorts of attacks and villains. But the next several episodes of Season 4 were there to show that Mane Six can still deal with the danger pretty well, because the Elements in their physical form weren't the Elements' spirits which still live inside their hearts and can be unleashed by their Friendship. It is their Friendship which makes them strong, not some deus-ex-machina maguffins.

Applebutt would kick it.

They're all horses, right? Y'know, those things that you risk life and limb standing behind 'cos they can kick with their enormous muscles and solid hooves. Not to forget the assorted artillery and armaments they probably have stashed around.

I'd like to see a villain that isn't defeated by the rainbow cannon. Being completely immune to all forms of magic, and maybe physical attacks, would make it even more interesting!   Best use brains and words to outsmart them, rather than relying on rainbow power or the elements.

I have another funky idea for a Magic-related villain:

How about a villain who mirrors Magic? :smug:

Whatever spell you cast upon him, he learns it instantly and he can cast it back upon you.

So you would have to be very careful of what spells you cast upon him.

How would you fight that? Muahaha! :mustache:

Hint: You need to think of a spell which will be harmless to you when he reflects it back at you, but actually harmful to him when he cast it upon you. What could it be?...

My ming goes around ideas such as copying his reflection spell to make a reflected reflection  :derp:  or casting a "all my Magic disappears" spell which he would then copy  :umad:  Tough question ;)
