I liked the chat, I just find that it carried a lot of lag in my end and it did have a few problems. It was nice but if we have to stop it, then so be it.

Just one last pointer from me taken from the mlp forums own survey

This is how much people hated the place called the chatroom that was sooo bad that needed to be closed. Just look at this I hate it bar unacceptable. I am wondering why it lived for so long I mean look at that love and like it bar. It so small it shouldn't even be taken as a joke.

This was surely a decision that took place among the population of the forums. It was for the greater good. Statistics clearly prove it

 

Edit: It seems that the thought of 30-something people that hate/disliked clearly overshadows the thought of those 130-something that loved/liked that chat

 

I have an issue with the Skype group chat.

 

I can't come in and leave as I please. I have to be added in, and if I leave it's difficult for me to find someone to re-add me in, and if I don't leave it freezes my skype with the hundreds of replies everyday.

Also the usernames aren't the same, so I usually don't know who is who.

Way to destroy the only way to connect with other people in the forums just because you cannot moderate it. It is very hard to have discussion and make friendships with people over a thread, while the chat gave us the opportunity to do this. I never saw anypony say something wrong or use the chat to insult any other members. I never saw nsfw material, its just kids having fun. So if youre going to delete the chat please give us a link of a good chat site where you guys have a room, AND NOT A SKYPE ONE.

It got closed for a week for people being dumb and reopened. Chances were given. Rules continued to be broken and spam continued to be spammed. Thus, nuked and sent to the moon.

 

Also, notice that indifference bar? It's probably turned into a dislike bar by now because people won't stop complaining about chat.

 

That is partially true. I am not denying that we did kinda Rpied(cause yes we never full fledged RP in there) and were silly random But we never and I mean never (at least at the times I was in which were quite a lot) Killed any discussion or with randomess or anything. When a discussion was on we respected it normaly and participated accordingly. We were random silly when the chat was dead. Unlike popular belief we had some normal talking and discussion in there. From jobs and stuff to simple music tastes and all that.

 

I was seriously pissed at people when the chat was dead and we were just being silly instead of you know looking at a dead chat and they were like "Oh you are killing the chat and disccussion." You what dude that say that stuff you never presented any discussion. You clearly just got pissied that we had fun and you didn't.. There were also many times that we stopped being silly when a serious topic was presented. So there. Most if not all of the stuff said in the thread are partially true. Cause if people favor watching a blank screen from seeing people having fun it clearly THER problem and of the people that are doing what they are supposed to do here.Make friends and have fun.

The average age of this forums in 16, there were reasonable adult conversations, and some heated debates (where feelings got hurt), but for the most part everypony was respectful of each other. Better than any chat I've ever seen.

And so what if it got a little silly every so often? It probably does in the skype group chat as well.

Kids will be kids and sometimes 'being silly' can be fun.

Intelligent conversation was never ignored for silliness, silliness was around when the chat was dead and a spam of "I'm bored" arose in the conversation.

You can turn off notifications from the Skype chat and make it so that it only notifies you when somebody mentions your name or something you find important.

 

Here's how you do it:

 

Conversation --> Notification Settings. You'll then be able to change your settings as you please.

Who are you? I mean I hardly ever saw you in the chat and I doubt you tried to do anything about it productively if you were ever there. I am thinking this thread needs to be locked or at least monitored closely now. Some of the posts I am reading are starting the enter the spectrum of rude, and even hateful. Many people are deeply hurt at the loss of the chat, and poking and prodding, saying things like "Nothing of value was lost" among other things is uncalled for! Those who are saying stuff like this should feel ashamed, we are all Bronies TOGETHER, no?

EDIT: I also wanted to mention the skype group for the forum. in between it feeling FAR more spammy than the chat room, I've left it for 2 days simply because I don't want to really look at it right now being busier with other things and I have over 9000 missed message right now (no joke intended). Furthermore, it seems far too impersonal to me, such a large number of people and having names that differ from there forum name makes for great confusion.

Candidly speaking, I cannot begin to imagine what is so obtuse about the reasoning behind the decision as to where everyone's complaining.

 

It's literally beyond me how more people didn't see this coming. I'm not one for shameless self plugs, truth be told, but here is a literal exegesis on why the chat ought to have been closed.

 

Devil's advocacy isn't my thing. I don't mean to be mean but, alas, it's something of a side effect of being blatantly honest.

 

We did it to ourselves.

 

Complaining any further or biding for the chatroom to return doesn't do anyone any favors, most especially those doing the complaining. All it really shows is a lack of understanding of a due process of moderation and direct cause and effect. When you register, you agree to an understanding of two things; one of these being the ToS, or Terms of Service, and the other being the Rules. Rules which, mind you, are blatantly stated and agreed to in order to gain access to the chat.

 

If you didn't "agree" or "understand" either of these statements, at least allow the general public the illusion that you did by not carrying on any further.

You can't cut through a "blank screen of death" without being "random or silly," i.e. ridiculous and alienating to individuals trying to have a legitimate conversation or those who are new to the chatroom itself?

There's a humongous gray area between "intelligent conversation" and what was actually going on in the chat a good amount of the time. If that's not apparent, then I've nothing else to say to you and this conversation has reached an impasse. You have your convictions and I, my own. Neither is likely to sway what has already happened and I'd like to say - for the record! - that I never really wanted to see the chat taken down, as can be seen in that small novel I posted on the chat conduct thread.

 

However, I suppose it was necessitated. A shame really but can it be helped?

 

Sorry for your loss and the reaction it eschewed. I don't mean to perhaps offend or inflame any fresh wounds, as it were. This is merely discourse, discussion of a civil constitution. May you find some sort of peace with the decision, I guess?
