Season 6 Confirmed!

Same thing everyone else is saying, more or less. We might be getting ahead of ourselves, but I would be very surprised if there wasn't a sixth season. I also wouldn't be surprised if the movie marked the end of the series.

 

I'm honestly not sure how many seasons MLP has in it. A mainly slice of life show has a much longer lifespan than a more plot-driven series, but even then a lot of shows of that nature fall into the trap of living long past their natural lifespans (I could name more than a few examples currently on the air).

 

So... I want the series to go for as long as it can while still being good and no longer. How's that for helpful advice to the show's staff?

While I don't want to see the show's quality deteriorate either, plenty of TV shows have proven capable of carrying good quality forward through 7, 8, 9, even 10 seasons. Someone remind me again how many episodes of Nartuto there are? Even without counting the 'filler' seasons? 

 

I hope the show continues for as long as it is profitable, and as long as there are areas of Equestria left to explore. Even if the book is closed on the Mane 6 at some point, there's no reason we can't focus on the journeys of a different group of ponies from a different town.

 

Writers don't just 'run out of ideas'. That's the thing about ideas. They're constantly being born. And if one writer loses inspiration, new writers with fresh perspectives can step up.

You bring up a fair point. Just because the show is getting up there in season that doesn't mean the writing will deteriorate. Heck, I'd love to see the stories that could be told from the perspective of a different cast in brand new lands.

 

And new writers can be a god-send. <3

I won't lie I'll be sad to see Friendship is Magic go. As much as I would like to see more seasons I do have to agree that maybe it'd be best if they ended it at Season 6 and moved on to the next generation of MLP lest we see something like this:

 

 

 

With that said, I won't complain if they make more seasons and will be happy if they manage to keep the show enjoyable!

It feels like I should be more hyped for another season after five, but I'm not really feeling it.

It's season 6 has finally developed/confirmed after the full 5th season is finished. The good news is today says it leaps into 2015-16 upfront season by the Discovery Family channel! It will be excellent news as I'm saying 2016 will be a leap year starting on Friday!

I am not surprised, but it should be the last one. They use this season to (hopefully) close the chapter on the CMC and they should use the next one, to close the chapter on all the mane six. We then finish everything off with a big screen movie and that's that. It would've been an awesome 7 Year ride.

Yes, me too, no matter how good a series is, it'll eventually wear out it's quality, and the characters will be less enjoyable. I also hope for a prudent end to FiM, and start making a spinoff if they still see FiM as profitable, 

 

I'll save my excitement for now, S5 has yet to start, and they're announcing S6 already?  , and the fact that April's Fools is about to start doesn't help matters

What's up with everyone's obsession with endings? Seriously.

 

 I want the show to keep going long as the people behind it still feel up to it and can still come up with fun and interesting ideas. I'd be A-okay with the show getting like 10 or more seasons long as it still stays good. I can understand the desire for something to end before it goes bad, but setting some weird limit of "It can't/shouldn't go past this exact point" is...really strange to me.

 

I've never liked endings though, I kinda hate them. To me endings are more a crime that is eventually necessary, rather than something to look forward to. Can't think of any ending that's really left me feeling good... -_-

Hooray, S6 confirmed! I'm not really surprised, though. Of course they'd keep the show going with how well it's been received. My only question is how many episodes will there be? If it's another 26, they're spoiling us, but I'm not complaining.

Getting a 6th season and then a movie to end the series is probably a pretty safe bet at this point. 

 

That said, while the money is still rolling in, the folks at Hasbro are not going to let their cash cow die. I'd like to see as many seasons of the show and full length movies as Hasbro is willing to make. I don't get why people have the desire to see the show end. It's not like they are going to run out of ideas and if they let the quality slip they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

Keep in mind that their TV station kinda needs MLP,I mean honestly who would subscribe to discovery family for something else. This is also hasbros main income as well, the fact that they announce 6th season when the ratings for the 5th haven't come in either shows they are really confident in their writers or that they could care less about ratings as long as their still making that cash. Not that I'm complaining, writers have proved themselves perfectly capable of making MLP episodes awesome. #PossiblyTryingToMilkIt??

Erm... Fast Forward was part of the rebooted 2000s series, not the original '87 series. Big difference.

 

If anything, that's an argument against reboots.

Why some people want season 6 to be the last? We still have to watch 52 episodes, we don't even know what's going to happen in the season 5 finale. And maybe season 6 will be awesome...

What's with everyone talking about the series finale?  Gosh, I really hope it doesn't come soon.  I'll be bawling my eyes out.  It'll be like what the season 3 finale did to me, all over again - had to rewatch it after seeing it the first time because I was crying so much that I could not see the screen during Celestia's ballad to Twilight.  

Though on the note of how I think the last finale should go...
 

I think it will end at the last season like this:

 

One last hoorah (mission completed of some sort).

 

Then a flash forward to like 10 years later.

 

Shows the ponies all gathering together, talking about old times.  They bring up amazing old memories, and as they are talking about the stories, it flashes back to a few of them.  Then once the flashbacks go away... it will show them all standing, faced away from the camera out on the edge of town, looking at the sunset.

 

As soon as the screen goes black, and the credits start rolling, it won't be the same ending song as it has been.  It will be a whole different song we've never heard.

 

Its lyrics will mention something along the lines of:

 

"We've come so far together, and we've always stuck at each others sides.  A journey once is a journey done one thousand times.  And we'll never split apart, because the thing that holds us closest, is the spirit in our hearts... The love we have is magic, never to be broken, to the end, and beyond.  When the last day comes, please just remember... you are in my heart, and I am in yours too, so together, forever, our single most important journey... is knowing... We will never leave each other."

The Simpsons got started back in the 80s on the old Tracy Ullman show & they are still going strong.  But, most shows hit a point where you just have to say "Enough is enough.  Don't think of it as a cancellation, think of it as a mercy killing".

 

That being said, I would dearly love to see a sequel or spin off.  Historical EQ? (Celestia & Luna -the early days), the CMCs? Something

(OT) Sorry but I (and many others) think the new Simpsons suck. It was very good until ~season 12.
