Post your positivity for 2017!

So. 2017 is here, and at the time I'm posting this, a lot remains to be seen about what will happen this year. Will it be an overwhelmingly progressive year perhaps? Maybe there'll be times in 2017 that'll bring about a lot of hardships. Or it could even just be a dull and uneventful year overall, I can't claim I know for sure what way it'll turn.

 

But... regardless of how it goes, I think there's something that'll matter all the same- our mindsets. Don't get me wrong, having a positive mindset doesn't mean bad stuff won't happen, or that it won't matter. If you try your best and 2017 doesn't turn out to be your favourite year, then nothing wrong with that. But I think it's important all the same that one can see and appreciate the good that'll happen this year, for as much as 2016 was an unwelcome year for many, there was also a lot of bright shining acts of kindness and progress that had been discarded and forgotten.

 

And that's kinda what this topic is for, I guess. I have no idea how 2017 is gonna go, but regardless of what it's like, I want to help make a difference perhaps and get some more of that positivity going at times when we might be missing it. So, what kinda stuff am I hoping for with this thread? Mostly stuff like this (not required to reply to don't worry- especially since some of these are intended for later in the year-, just suggestions x3):

... and possibly some other stuff too, if you can think of anything else that'd make sense for this topic. Obviously the year has only just started by the time I've posted this, but I'm impatient so sue me : D

 

I guess to start things off; one of the main things I'm looking forward to this year is finally getting to move to my girlfriend! The change of scenery that'll come with that should be nice too, it'll do me good to see new places and push my comfort zone a bit further :3 And to an extent, I'm already spending a lot more time with my family recently than I tended to even two weeks ago, and it's a trend I hope I can stick to for as long as I'm still with them.

I'm mainly looking forward to anything that's MLP related--especially the eighth set for the MLP CCG. I've been waiting practically forever for any information regarding it. Hopefully, it will be a set that was worth the wait. I also want to see how the Nintendo Switch is going to perform since it's going to be released within the next couple of months if they stick to their schedule.

Increasing my workout routine. I'm currently doing a 1 hour 40 minute routine daily + 200 sit ups and bridges every morning. I plan on increasing to 500 every morning and during the night workout by the end of 2017

We will see. I don't consider myself perfect, but I'm unaware of any glaring faults that I can take steps to work on at the moment.

I will become a fully fledged software engie, so that's exciting! I'm pretty confident I'll find a nice job locally too. I don't know what I'm going to be doing after this year, I haven't really written my tale this far in advance. I created a 4 year plan 3.5 years ago and I'm approaching a bit of a "now what" moment. I suppose that adds a bit of excitement to the coming years.

 

Motivational words for the year: CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

 

Positive highlights:

- I'm looking forward to seeing the switch, for better or for worse. I've always been a Nintendo guy.

- I'll probably get to witness yet another full cycle around the sun.

- I will get a lot of personal time back in April. I may get back into playing music again and pick up drawing again.

- I'm starting a bit of an exercise routine, so hopefully that goes well.

I wasn't sure if this thread was going to get any replies this soon seeing as it's fairly early in the year, it's nice to see there's a decent bit of positivity around even 5 days in!

 

@@Ganondorf8, @@Steve Piranha, if I remember correctly, wasn't there a trailer released as early as January last year? Who knows, perhaps there'll be more news coming up pretty soon o: As for the MLP CCG, that's not something I know too much about whatsoever, but it sounds interesting! Now I'm kinda curious about checking it out x3 And a positive change of scenery can make a world of difference, hope things go a lot better for you in this new place!

@, I think there might have been some miscommunication here? ^^; Like I said in the OP, I realise it's very early in the year, which is why I wanted the things marked with ~ to be suggestions rather than mandatory points to address (the points like '~Positive highlights of the year' are present mostly for people that visit this topic later in the year when more events have actually happened); I've edited the OP a bit further to make it clearer now, sorry if it was vague beforehand ^-^ In any case, I hope your project is going well and that it gets some nice feedback whenever you release the alpha! :3

I'm resolving to be positive about everything this year, and grateful for the blessings I've been given. I have some tough times ahead with pending surgery and a long recovery time to come but I'm looking at it all with a bright disposition and seeing a better life on the other side of it. I'm endeavoring to see the future as a clean slate and not worrying about changes that can't be avoided. I'll see it all instead as an opportunity for exploring new directions and finding new treasures that life might have to offer. 

I WILL become fit again and resume working out and keeping in shape.

I WILL finish three paintings.

I WILL write new stories. 

The latter two are already getting started so we'll see how it goes.

I guess there is a decent amount of media that I am looking forward to this year.

There is the second season of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix on the 20th, and 10 days later a new batch of Steven Universe episodes are finally premiering.

I am really looking forward to seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in theaters, and looking forward to seeing Spider Man Homecoming as well.

There is also the final few episodes of the 4th season of TMNT that I have been waiting for sense December, the premiere of the Big Hero 6 Cartoon that I am interested in, and more episodes of Star Vs the Forces of Evil.

I am also waiting to go see the MLP FIM movie in theaters, see season 7, and the EQG specials.

There is also the next installment of Digimon Adventure Tri, and the second season of Miraculous Ladybug that i am looking forward to.

So I guess 2017 has a lot of content in media that will help me get through it.

@@Bomb Sheep, well hey, AHHHHHHHH!!! is pretty motivational if I say so myself! Makes me want to charge at 2017 with a great giant sword x3 As for Unitale, it's something I've lost track of as of late, but the battle system is one of my favourites for an RPG, that + nostalgia is a nice mix to look forward to!

 

Since making the OP, I've ended up binge watching the whole of Rick and Morty thus far in two days, and now I'm really looking forward to seeing what season 3 has in store whenever it starts this year! : D (Even if season two's cliffhanger was kinda a jerk move D: ) Someone I care deeply about is also being prescribed more powerful meds now too that should definitely help them better than some of the less effective types they've had to make do with before, so I'm really hopeful that'll make things easier for them, especially as their start for 2017 has been kinda challenging on the whole ^-^

 

On a slightly related note, there was another forum I attempted doing this topic on too, and while the replies there were pretty good overall, it also brought about an off-topic political debate for a bit as well a member or two that pretty much went out of their way to force negativity onto it for the sake of just being different; that kinda made me realise how the people really are fairly decent overall haha, I appreciate how the replies here have been going so far!

@, well hey, like OP states, I can't claim to know how this year will turn, so your certainty's as good as anyone's. I can't say you're wrong, nor would I want to. That being said, I think you might be mistaking a thread about good things that might happen this year as a thread that's saying 2017 will be a good year (something I'm not confident enough to post, nor have any intention to), so I'm not too sure how what you said fits into anything Not that you're doing anything wrong saying that (especially compared to members of another site I've been on that somehow went down the road to abortion debates on a similar thread x.x), but I would like to try steer the topic away from that direction if I can by addressing this right away before anyone else pushes along with it; you know what I was trying to aim for with this topic, I kinda don't want people trying to be clever and just using the word 'positive' in its other meaning to justify changing this topic to lots of "I'm positive this year will be the worst" posts and what have you, I'm sure people aren't so blind they need that reiterated on even a thread for positivity in order to figure out that hey, 2017 is gonna have a dark side x3 Not saying that you were trying to force negativity of course, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't seen someone deliberately doing that quite recently, and I'm not too sure MLPF would be 100% free of people like that that could see your post and use it as an excuse to diverge even further into posts such as "there's nothing to be positive about" or "I'm positive we're all going to die", stuff that isn't exactly gonna fill people visiting this thread for what it is with joy and motivation and so on.

 

Sorry for giving you such a long-winded response btw (well, it's more of a post for anyone that posts after this really, I guess ), I just feel like everyone ever already has more than their fair share of worries and all for this year, so for a thread that's meant to help keep us all aware of the bright side of this year, I really don't want this to become even slightly demoralising or anything when there's already plenty of that everywhere else, positive threads are fairly rare but hopelessness and darkness aren't exactly all that obscure, y'know? ^^; Like I said, I've got no problems with what you or anyone thinks this year will be like, of course there's some dangerous stuff coming up that is worth some consideration, so I don't blame ya. But I feel like what this thread is supposed to be about was put forward pretty clearly, so please, let's not turn this into yet another platform for people to share the already abundant negativity for the future? Hey it good to hear some  insights, so  you don't need to apology for anything,  I didn't want to cause anyone to feel they need to be  reminded the negatively.  So i appreciated your time writing that up, to remind me to turn away to something and to look forward to other things.

 

To lighten up the mood, I"m looking forward to these good movies coming out this year; "Logan," "Justice league", "wonder woman," "Frozen 2 (don't judge), "Star wars ep 9" and most of all "MLP"

Nah you weren't going out aggressive, I'm pretty easy going person, and i don't mind others speaking out when they don't feel right about something. 

 

I agreed, while Marvel is making a huge hit, I feel DC is also coming up better with new movies. sure people is a bit critical about DC, but you have to at least admit they are improving. I can't wait for ben affleck's batman movie, knowing that his movie has known for being edgy and dark.

I've been super calm this year, which isn't much like how i was in the past. Over sensitive and easily triggered by things i don't like.

 

Also, i'm accepting, heck, EMBRACING, being a 'girly girl' more now i've always been a girly girl, but i've grown to dislike it due to things people said online to me afterawhile...not pretty, very depressing, in fact. Finding the brony fandom and collecting my pony plushies is helping me get past that, though. Thank goodness
