Both Spyro 2 and Spyro 3. These were just games i've had for the Spyro Trilogy on Christmas day(My parents got me the Collectors Edition) and the soundtracks are both my most memorable music pieces.

I've always loved Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time. Sometimes as a kid I'd go to Gerudo Valley just to hear the soundtrack.

Hopes and Dreams from Undertale is another of my favorites.

If you know this song, then you most likely also played this game.
Well, game... it is more of a once in a life time experience.

It was there before the rise of social media. Durring the time MSN was big. It saw Skype on the rise, it saw the explosion of people going to Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
People were on this game to hangout, explore and chat with people from all around the world.

Never played it. Heard people mention it often, but couldn't feel curious enough to try it.

Now, regarding the question... I don't have a single specific song/piece in mind, since I've played so many games from so many different systems. Many games have one or two tracks that make them very memorable to me, either because I really enjoyed the tracks or where they were played or because they amazed me by the feelings they could evoke.

I'd need a looooooooooong post to list a several, and I'll be missing a lot of them anyway. And the ones I might not post won't be because they were any less memorable, but because they are too many to recall them in a single time. So I'll post them over time.

I'll start with just some.

While Hikari no will power is super memorable (will post it some other time) and most people remember it because it has been in at least 2 DB games and even has an amazing version with lyrics, I have a special place in my heart for Future Trunks' theme from the SNES Super Butouden 2. It has this build up in the intro that prepares you for an intense combat and also serves as an heroic introduction (which is funny because the game was far too slow for nowadays standards), changes the mood to a melancholic tune while keeping that classic rock beat, then backs down a bit with a classic rock bridge, starts a melody of the same type, brings in what would probably sound like organs to give the listener a breathe and perhaps some hopes (evoking the point of Trunks travel to the past, seeking to save that past from the terrible fate his timeline had) and then falls down rapidly with some intense scale play and raises up just as fast, and ends on an intense outro that breaks the beat when it plays a scale down, then resumes with the build up intro again. Is an exciting piece that plays a lot with mood changes all the way, it points out the emotions Trunks must have had during his arc moving around from melancholy, then to tense "peace" and relief, hopes, and a climax full.of ups and downs and ups and downs again, just to repeat the ride again.

Now, keeping up with that kind of badass heroic intent that comes after having lost pretty much everything, I'll show one of my favorite NES tracks.

For those who haven't played Ninja Gaiden (Ninja Ryukenden in japan and Shadow warrior in europe, if I recall it right), the plot is far more than what we used to see on the NES, since it has full cutscenes to tell us the story as we progress. In this part, Ryu has lost an ally and to make matters worse, the statue he had been protecting to prevent world destruction has been stolen, so he launches himself in a desperate breakthrough into the lair of the main antagonist to retrieve the statue, which is pretty much a suicide mission. You can feel the desperation on the track, as well as the willpower. In some places this track title's was " His determination", which fits to a T given the context. We have an exciting piece full of a funky bassline with the root to probably 5th notes to give that pop-n-slap feel to it, a frenetic beat filled with hi-hats and your snare to point the beat and a fuguesque harmony that cuts abruptly and follows an odd rhythm to let us know the chord they are on. Finally, the melody plays a lot with the scale and tension, and speeds up by the climax to simulate a guitar shredding of sorts.

And talking about funk, I can't leave this track out.

While I know the popular opinion is that Rondo of Blood is better than Dracula X, on every aspect, I dare say musically speaking is the other way around all the way. A great example is Richter's theme titled "Divine bloodlines". The biggest difference you'll find on the soundtrack in both games is that Dracula X are midis using the SNES soundchip, while Rondo of blood is all synths with CD quality. Regarding this track, Rondo of blood has terrible decisions on the equalization and mastering aside from some questionable arrangements that sound a bit off. It shines out a lot that the melody is not up on the front of the track on the Rondo of blood version, which is hard to understand since as a composer you want people to recall your piece and the most interesting and varied part is the melody, so it's the part that's easiest to remember which makes it the part you should accent while moving the volume of each part. Either way, Divine Bloodlines has a nice intro that defines the rhythm and aesthetic, and also comes in a sort of a whisper, and then explodes with a lot of energy to make for a dramatic entrance. It keeps its dramatic feel through the entire song both through the melody and harmony, employing lifts and smooth drops to raise the tension as we wait for a resolution in the outro. Meanwhile, it uses some mellow sounds on the melody to convey a kind yet heroic air to the piece, which fits perfectly with Richter Belmont's personality, being him a cool dude that embarks on a mission not just to destroy Dracula, but to save as many people as he manages to. It also accents the peril of the situation and the imagery of the burning village and the beginning of a rescue mission full of hazards. The small drops and subsequent raises on this theme serve another purpose besides the dramatism, and is to convey a romantic air of longing present on Richter's desire to save his girlfriend Annette and to convey the feeling of grief from knowing the confrontation with Dracula was unavoidable due his cursed lineage. The bridge brings us a feeling of confidence and hope in middle of the chaotic scenary Richter is facing both through the dramatic melody with the small consecutive risings and the funky rhythmic guitar. The faith a vampire hunter must have to face all that evil and come out triumphly. Finally, the outro brings us a satisfying resolution after rising the tension one last time, remarking the heroic nature of the character and reducing the range of notes on the melody as a way to tells us "is time to focus on the mission". This theme sums up the whole plot of the game and the motivations and personality of the protagonist in a single, natural piece. It must be my favorite piece from Castlevania's soundtrack.

I mean I don't have any specific example to give, but pretty much every single galaxy from the original Super Mario Galaxy has a super iconic, fantastic soundtrack to it. I think "Gusty Gardens" is probably the most famous though, I'll post it below for non-Mario fans who may not have heard it before, but I bet everyone who is a Mario fan has probably heard it before, even if you don't realize it! :P

I really loved that game so much, I'm going to get my old Wii out from the basement closet over my winter break and get it all set up again just so I can play this game again! :yay:

Music from the older Mario Games and the Crash Bandicoot games as well. Especially Twinsanity. I’ve not touched Crash Twinsanity in a long time but I can still quote it and remember the music to this day lol.
