I wear glasses. Proudly. One's glasses is a symbol of pride, glory, amazingness, goodlookingness, and fantasticpersonalityness. At no point does putting on one's glasses detract from their character, but instead amplifies it to a level far beyond even what a divine power could pull off. Without the power of glasses, all aspects of glamour would cease to exist, and therefore, people like me would cease to exist. A world without glasses is no world at all. I've had astigmatism since I was 6, and it's a family thing, I'm nearsighted and both eyes are 20-80. I can't see shit a foot in front of me without my glasses. It's not bad, I'm used to it.

Yep. It feels like everyone who's been staring at a screen for too long have glasses these days. xD I got mine when I was 8 though.

I was supposed to, however, I never really got used to it. The only place I was really required to wear them was for driving. But then stuff happened and all of this was moot. To put it very vaguely and confusingly...

It's a shame because in high school my parents bought me some really nice prescription sunglasses. They didn't necessarily completely go to waste - I remember wearing them during the marching band practices during my senior year... But after that I couldn't anymore...

I wear glasses, but I really hate them. I look stupid with glasses on, tbh. :P I'm going to get contacts soon, thank god. I have what's called an "astigmatism" where one of my eyes (I believe it's my left eye) is a slightly different shape compared to the other, which causes me to have slight blurred vision. My vision isn't THAT horrible without glasses, in fact I go around refusing to wear them a lot, but I do have to squint a lot when I'm not wearing them.

I've been having to wear them since I was about 13 or 14, so it's only been a couple years.

Same with me. I also have an astigmatism, which makes it so I have to wear glasses. (I don't really like wearing glasses, and like to take them off whenever I can.) I really want to get contacts, but I haven't yet.

I actually figured out that I had an astigmatism when I was 15, which was only two years ago! So I'm still getting used to wearing glasses. :P (I had no idea that I had bad vision until then. I'm surprised that I could go that long without noticing.)

Same here! My eye doctor told me I had it my whole life, I just didn't realize it until I was a teenager, like you I'm surprised I never noticed before. :ooh: My dad also has the same thing, so that explains where it came from. I am starting to wear my glasses more though. :adorkable:

Yup, that sounds very familiar. My eye doctor also told me that I've had it my whole life, I just never told anybody that I couldn't see. I really didn't want to wear glasses! My mom also has it, so that's where mine came from.

Sadly, my eye doctor said that my astigmatism is very bad, so I have to wear my glasses all the time. I only take them off when I have to. (I can't really see without them!)

but I'd rather have LASIK surgery

Beware if you decide that, you'll need to be awake for the operation. I was told to stare at the laser machine's diode during burning stage; I got stressed out that my eyeball might twitch and mess up the geometry of the correction, or something.

Also, things may be painful once the anesthetic drop's effects wear off. Though most of my suffering was due to protective contacts they put over my cornea to prevent wrinkling for a day, which I found out was completely unnecessary.

I don't need glasses at the moment, but I'm still pretty young. My dad suddenly needed them at one point... I'm not expecting the same to happen to me, but I am prepared. *holds up Girl Scout symbol*

I always wear glasses since I need them to see. Contacts wouldn't be a good choice for me though because I don't want to fiddle with my eyes - even eye drops are hard enough to apply!

I've been wearing glasses ever since I was five--I'm thirty-five right now--so saying that I'm used to them is a serious understatement. I suppose that I could wear contacts but after seeing how my mum sometimes struggles with them, I feel they are too cumbersome for the likes of me.

Yes I in fact do wear glasses, I have been wearing glasses since kindergarten because I my vision gets all blurry when I look at things that are far away. I'm not the only one who wears glasses in my family, both my grandparents do, my aunt and uncle do, both my cousins do, and dad all wear glasses, so I'm not the only one! :fluttershy:
