Every time stuff like this has leaked its led to fandom drama that only hurt it in the long run. I really hope this is fake, but there’s been some new developement that make it seem more real. Apparently, there was some info in the leaks that let people break into the DHX servers and grab stuff like some unfinished episodes.

As far as G5 goes, I do like most of the redesigns(though I haven't seen Pinkie) apart from AJ, don't like how she's redone completely and looks more like a Rarity clone. As for the end of G4 is concerned, Hasbro still keeps G1 Transformers alive due to it's popularity and I can see them doing the same for G4 MLP considering it's been one of Hasbro's biggest hit's in a while, so I think it's still early to say the ride's coming to the end(assuming it's true)

 

Also read the "leaked" synopses for S8, and now I'm kinda hoping it's true because a lot of the RD focused episodes sound awesome. Also Rarishy, Raritwi and Raridash episodes = Insta-win

The last animation G3 had (as part of G3.5) came out in 2009 with the toyline continuing until 2010 (though I think it was still sold until 2011). I’m not 100% sure about this myself, but that doesn’t seem to me like a reason to doubt it.

S9 is both 13 and 26 episodes depending on which email from the leaks you are reading, that's how fluid all of this stuff still is.

The crazy thing about AJ is that the emails in there the talk of her redone personality (they talk A LOT about AJ, they seem to think she's the one character who doesn't really work from a personality level, hence why she's the only one to really get a total visual re-design as well, I mean really aside from the changed races Twilight and Flutters basically look exactly the same, and Rarity is just flat out keeping the same design) makes her seem like the exact opposite of that, in fact they talk about drawing from Sunset and Tempest for inspiration on her, she's supposed to be some kind of bad girl.

I'd be open to seeing a generation 5, considering how successful this generation has been I can only imagine that Hasbro would try to plan the next generation modeled after this one with bigger and better elements and new additions to the world and character cast.

She seems to be the only one to be getting a complete overhaul. Everyone else seems to be the same, RD/Rarity seem exactly the same with FS, Twi and Pinkie only getting changes in their species(Unicorn, Earth Pony and Pegasus respectively)

I hope they don't leak the whole season. A few season 7 episodes leaking was one thing, but in that case, the spoilers would indeed be unavoidable. This really makes me worry about the future of the show (especially considering the claims about season 9 being the last one)...

I took the email in the context of quite a few people just wanted to flat out replace Applejack in the M6 while keeping the rest (which is obvious given how little the rest have changed), and this radical redo was the compromise basically. I don't understand it though, Applejack worked fine for the role she was meant to play, she only had issues as a leading character at times. 

Also the Species swaps aren't finalized, Id actually be surprised if Twilight remained an Earth Pony, a lot of them seemed iffy on it, for some reason they seem all in on Unicorn Fluttershy though.

Didn't read up on the rest of them, but I heard they didn't like Pegasus Pinkie much either, which I kind of find amusing considering she was originally supposed to be one from the start

TBH I would not be at all surprised if in the end they just go "fuck it we kinda like Unicorn Fluttershy but we want Unicorn Twilight more and Pegasus Pinkie is dumb too" and everyone just stays the same species.

Not surprised RD and Rarity are barely being changed, RD is a sales magnet and Rarity is a character the staff have always just liked a lot.

Well, it quite bitter sweet that we have an approximate date for FiM's end, but I think we should take this information to party with ponies like never before . Of course, these long-term plans are subjected to change, so we MAY get a content or two for FiM before it finally ends , but it won't take away the fact that FiM's days are numbered. It was a great ride, and I'm glad that my late 2012 involvement in the fandom wasn't really that late. I'll miss this show, but we'll always remember it with love, not only for being a good show, but because it gave something that was missing in many of us, and it's only appropriate to give it a touching good bye

a: Lord Tirek pulls a Hijacked by Ganon trope on Cozy Glow

b: In a twist of fate, Tirek reforms, being the recent character to pull a HeelFaceTurn

Some stuff from ether one of the specials their apparently doing or S9 also leaked (just a few concepts of flash assets) but they do give us some major stuff: Grogar is coming and King Sombra is making a come back, seemingly together since their under the same "episode" file.

I'm honestly pretty curious about what's actually going on in those leaks, but I'm also perfectly fine to just wait for this stuff as it comes, especially as a lot of this stuff is probably not set in stone yet. Very undecided. 

I'm primarily loyal to this particular incarnation of these characters, and so I'm not sure how much interest I'll really have in a reboot. Mostly, I'm glad that this might be pushing the show in some sort of direction, but then, season 7 had a bit more direction than prior seasons and I thought it was really poor. I'm undecided about how much further I'm gonna watch this show anyway, so if I stop watching during season 8, none of this matters that much to me.

I did stumble across some of the new designs though, and I'm actually in the boat of wondering why they're even as similar to the prior designs as they are. I know pony has always revolved around completely reconfiguring prior characters, but I have to wonder, is that so important to their demographic? Would it be impossible for them to get away with a whole new set of designs and names altogether? I genuinely do not know. Personally, I'd be more interested in a completely fresh new take on the general tone and premise of pony, but I don't expect risk-taking from Hasbro. New designs look nice enough, though.

Im really not a fan of a reboot, which is what it sounds like they’re doing, I was sure they would just go for a spin-off series in the same universe with different main characters, but it doesn’t look that way.
