Episodes you love but everyone else seems to hate.

Bird in the Hoof is an extremely underrated one for me. I think it's one of the funniest episodes. It's awesomely animated and the plot-although a bit cliche-made me actually believe Philomeana was dead at the end. Plus, OCD driven Twilight is best Twilight.

 

Owl's Well That Ends Well is pretty good too. It's funny, Spike is awesome and it's probably the "darkest" episode of season 1. Lets see-they used fake blood, the word LOVE and a kind of creepy owl, I guess.

 

Hearths Warming Eve seems to have quite a hatebase due to the fact that it's written by Merriwether Williams and also everyone had massive expectations that were impossible to fill. This episode has excellent world-building, animation and heartwarming bits, especially the part in the cave where the ponies just pretty much accepted death and went with it. Sure, I'm not fond of Merriweather writing character driven stuff, but as it's a play, she's not writing the mane 6, she's writing for characters the mane 6 are playing. Sure, Pinkie may not think inside the chimney, but Chancellor Puddinghead might. So it was the perfect episode for a new writer to the show to write.

 

Also, Look Before you Sleep. It's funny, it has some of the most crucial character development that Applejack (I'm not so sure about Rarity, as she has quite a few episodes where it focuses on her developing, Applejack doesn't have much) has received thus far, and of course the relationship between Rarity and AJ was explored and strengthened. Plus, it's one of the episodes where I relate to the moral the most.

 

Yeah, so I have a lot more actually, such as Feeling Pinkie Keen, MMMystery, A Canterlot Wedding (this episode was really mixed, and it seems like most bronies either love it or hate it) and Ponyville Confidential.The only 2 episodes I can't really stand are Mare Do Well and Dragon Quest.

A lot of people don't seem too fond of the episode Dragon Quest, but I really liked that episode, a lot of really great moments in that one imo, I really don't get the hate. I also really liked Winter Wrap Up, I see the song get mentioned more than the episode but I really liked the episode as a whole too.

Sweet and Elite wasn't that bad. Rarity may be my least favorite of the mane 6, but I don't really think her lying to her friends was as bad as it was cut out to be. If I had a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity I'd probably do the same thing.

4)Sonic Rainboom

 

and those are the episodes that no other ponies mention either

 

I thought that Luna Eclipsed and Sonic Rainboom are rather popular episodes despite Rarity getting criticism in Sonic Rainboom.

Baby Cakes, alot of people seem to think it's a overly cutesy sugar overdose, but I like the humor and just the whole Toon Disney vibe it had.

 

Also, the Pilot, I really like the adventure elements of it. Of course I grew up in the 90s when most animated movies were fantasy-adventure.

Baby Cakes: One of my favorite episodes. The amount of cute is too much to handle.

 

Super speedy cider squeezy 6000: I don't know... People seem to hate this episode but I found it really good.

 

Ponyville Confidential: I heard a few folks saying they hated this one but I loved it. I love sad episodes actually.

 

I probably have some others too but those are the one I noticed the most.

So I finally did get to watch Dragon Quest and I must say...what a seriously underrated episode! I know it wasn't quite what people were expecting, but I really loved it. It's probably one of my favorites this season. Spike carried the episode well, and I was legitimately interested in his struggle between what he learned growing up around ponies and dragon culture. Plus Garble is kind of adorable in a grumpy teen way. <3

I liked Rainbow Falls. Probably because Rainbow Dash is my least favorite pony so I didn't really pay much attention to how out of character she was. I liked it because of how adorable Bulk Biceps and Fluttershy were together, and also because of the return of Derpy. Hearing Fleetfoot talk was cool too.

Feeling Pinkie Keen - I think it's just as funny as most other episodes and is actually a smartly written analysis of Twilight's character - showing how far she would go just to prove herself right before learning to sweat the small stuff.

Don't get me wrong, the episode does have its flaws. I'm fine with characters being assholes, but I think it could've been done with more subtlety, and made less obvious that everyone was out to get Fluttershy for the sake of plot convenience.

 

Many people thought that Fluttershy's change of attitude was too instantaneous, and out of left field. I however thought it was fitting, since many people (myself included) who were ashamed of something about themselves, have gone to the other extreme in an attempt prove they're not like the way they used to be. From what I got, the whole point of the episode was to find the right balance, rather than go to one extreme or the other.

 

And it's a hell of a lot better than Baby Cakes.

Putting Your Hoof Down. Most enjoyment I've gotten out of Fluttershy the whole series. What can I say, I love jerky characters (it's why RD is my fav of the mane 6).

 

I have a bit of a soft spot for The Show Stoppers if only for the fact that Scootaloo was friggin' great in it! The moment with her on the piano still cracks me up.
