Things You Dislike About the MLP Fandom

Things that I hate about this fandom...let me think about it

- People who hate on cloppers and turn R34 blogs into a war area

- People who get all over dramatic and take the show too seriously

- The music, it's usually always really bad house, dubstep, and Drum n Bass music

- The people who shove "Love and Tolerate" down the throats of people, yet they themselves are complete hypocrites

- People who act like having a different opinion than someone else is gonna offend that person

- The idiotic people who think that they're so better than everyone else because they're into MLP

- People who act like being a brony is a life changing event

- The whole "coming out of the closet" thing, really, like I mean come on seriously?

- People who look down on Grimdark like it's the most terrible thing in existence, oh boo hoo someone made a happy children's show into some dark and twisted fanfic, get over it.

About that last one, I used to hate Grimdark too. For roughly that reason, I've since developed an affinity for it. But my problem is with gorefics that are just some edgy outlet for your own anger and/or fucked up desires. So fics like Cupcakes come to mind, if it's an actual story, then okay. But it's just Final Destination, but with ponies. That's retarded.

If I could add anything to that list, it would be people who claim to be fandom spokespersons. No one speaks for me, but me. Don't assume we all share your (usually idiotic) opinions.

I agree with all you say here except for the music. While the majority of the music is dupstep or similar  there are other forms of music in the fandom.

Except that the other forms of music in the fandom bore me, the reason why I hate the more electronic influenced fandom music is that they don't put too much thought into their music, most of the music is just people using the same or similar sounding presets over and over again, good job you get the amateur sticker.

I was gonna pick some things out of that quote, but I'm feeling all of them.

I guess an easier way to summarize it for me, would be thin-skinned bronies who flip their shit over anything like the show, fapping to ponies, gore, "haters", etc. If you don't want to be treated like a cranky manchild, then don't act like one. Simple.

Cranky manchild, good description

Oh good lord I should of thought of that one, though I don't find people who are like that to be too much of a bother, at least not as much as over dramatic people.

That's true for some members of the fandom, but then you get people like this guy, who not only has a unique sound, but puts a lot of thought and effort into his work.

Just as a side note, as an electronic musician, I felt somewhat offended by that post; it's just the way you said you "hated" anything electronic in the fandom (yes, I did a pretty generic house track in the past, but that was a mistake). I don't like fandom musicians being lumped as untalented just because a more popular one is less original.

All of these I agree with ^

'People who look down on Grimdark.' People that complain, "How could you do that to a children's show?!" Are quite ignorant. It's the internet, wherever you go, there's gonna be some fucked up shit just waiting there to be seen.

'The people who shove "Love & Tolerate" down people's throats, yet they themselves are complete hypocrites.'

I 100% agree with this. I'm starting to think "Love & Tolerate" isn't even a phrase anymore, people just use it to take advantage of a situation being completely oblivious to the actual definition of "Love & Tolerate."

'People who hate on cloppers and turn R34 blogs into a war area.'

Oh dear, you found some rule 34 of MLP on Google Images/a website? Now you're completely traumatized? No. As I said above, 'It's the internet', you're bound to see some weird shit.

Did you know 'WWW' stands for 'World-Wide-Web'? which means the that if a website has that, it's international, so the whole world can go onto it. That's pretty big isn't it? THE WHOLE WORLD.

And out of 'the whole world', there must be someone that thinks "I'm going to create something explicit!"

I'm getting tired of the people in this fandom that complain endlessly.

1. The newer fans, i got nothing against them personally, but the new folks who're claiming MLP to be the single greatest thing in the world, who've just found out about Rule 34 (and complain about it endlessly) see the show as being completely flawless, and the whole "HURR HURR 20% COOLER IN 10 SECONDS FLAT, LOL BROHOOF".
  2. Seems a bit harsh, but every time I see one of those "MLP SAVED MY LIFE" i just sigh annoyingly and move on to the next thread.
  3. The "HOMOSEXUAL SHIPPING IS BAD" rants.
4. The "OMG I SAW THIS FANFIC, AND PINKIE'S ACTUALLY EVIL CUS SHE KILLED RAINBOW DASH" Nothing to do with cupcakes in particular, but the shitheads who combine fanon, and canon.

I actually agree with this one.

5. The Clopper protestants, this bothers me more than anything, the whole "I CAN'T EVEN GOOGLE A PONY'S NAME WITHOUT FINDING PORN" they find one suggestive image, and then flip shit about it.

Correction: these days, you can't google search a pony's name without finding "(pony's name)R34" in the SEARCH SUGGESTIONS, not Google images.

And the Derpy fans, the "LOLOL DERPY IS THE BEST PONY HURR" ones at least

I love how easily you can avoid these things, especially the 4th one.

I know that those things are easily avoidable, but that doesn't mean that they're not a problem.

I love how we're supposed to love and tolerate others, yet we can't even let people live as they please, 5th one.

So love and tolerance means not having any morals or limits, blindly accepting others just because they're bronies, and not being able to have your own opinion apart from what others think?

Also, mind showing me the "rampant R34 community"   I've been on the fandom for 2 years, haven't come across it yet.

Here is my deal with clopping.

I don't like it. And I don't like R34 either.

I don't like porn and masturbation, period. My reasons for dislike clopping and R34 have almost nothing to do with them being paired with ponies.

I have nothing against cloppers themselves. Most of them are no different from the men who masturbate to pornography. Quite frankly, it is none of my business whether or not you get off on ponies. I like that it is none of my business. I don't want to hear about it.

And many of you are right. If I don't like it, then I don't have to seek out places that include those sorts of pictures.

The problem is that it is almost impossible to NOT find those sorts of pictures on Google Images or Tumblr. I had to install the Tumblr Savior toolbar in Chrome to get rid of ALL of the pornographic pony pictures (and there were a LOT LOT LOT more than you think) just so that I could find something that I might actually enjoy looking at.

Unless the website itself has made a rule against posting that sort of thing, then it's going to be there. I have accidentally seen more pony porn than real porn. I have been regularly browsing the Internet for almost a decade. Real porn has been around much longer than that. Pony porn only started existing a couple of years ago.

To cloppers: it isn't any of my business what turns you on. But please, please, please be respectful of other people who don't get turned on by ponies. There are many of us who don't want to see the sexy pictures that you are posting on the Internet. If you want the non-cloppers to respect you, then you need to respect us and do what you can to make sure that only the people who see your image are the people who actively seek it out.

I never said that all of them were talentless (neither did I mean to say that), I just said that quite a few of them were talentless hacks, yes there are a few who I do enjoy and there are some who do put thought into their music (hence why I said MOST OF IT IS previously), Taps I like his more melodic and atmospheric house/trance style, and d.notive does some great synthpop-ish type stuff. Guys like those are more outside of the box than others. It's just guys like Omnipony, The Living Tombstone, and others that I just can't help but to roll my eyes at how same-y same-y their music is.

  • 3 weeks later...

right this is a serious thread for serious answers.

the question is simple, what kind of brony are you not happy with?

personally i am not happy with the "over-the-top" bronies

you know the ones that shove it down peoples throats wherever they go

such as talking about it, every-single-second and things like that

I guess if I had to choose, it would be the Pretentious Bronies.

Basically, the ones who think it's a bigger deal than it really is, such as having "coming out" stories and acting like they're super cool and awesome because they like something so "unique" as a "little girl's" show.

I just... can't stand it. It's not that big of a deal to like a show. Not to me~

Evangelist bronies .  The ones that really feel the need to talk about the show in every corner of the internet.  They're the ones that piss others off and make them into haters.

All of my yep.

Also, I cannot stand bronies that talk about the show as if it's some kind of extremely complex, majorly unique, developed plot, with developed and deep characters and etc.

It's a kids' show. That's it. No, don't give me that BS of "u hav 2 look deeperrrrrr, cuz it getz soooo deeeep." They're just ponies. Jeez.

Even if there is some easter egg kind of stuff (they are in every kids' show, I know) that is a bit witty, and would take an adult to understand, that kind of stuff is stupid. I'd rather just have a directly good story.

I also can't stand the ones that think everyone must be friendly towards each other, and pretend to get along with everyone, because "friendship is magic." Please. It's okay to disagree and simply not get along with people. Not everyone has to be friends, ffs. It's a childish viewpoint to keep.

I suppose it would be the ones who hold the fandom onto a pedestal and get butthurt over anyone who dosen't fit their arbitrary definition of what a brony should be. And the anti cloppers, it is one thing to not be into it I can of course understand that but is it really necessary to go into never ending rants over what some people decide to do in their private time?

But that's because you're old enough to not care smile.png

The bronies that are around 12-16 are way more insecure, so are their friends and the rest of their school. Which means that it actually is a big deal to "come out" since they have a way greater chance to get bullied. And at that age it is actually a "big deal" to be openly different than anybody else.

But I can surely understand you.

ON TOPIC:

I personally dislike the bronies that shove it down everyone's throats, they make other people label our fandom as "annoying". Which saddens me sad.png

4chan bronies... even though they let us all know of the MLP show, the fact is, they do a lot of stupid things too. And wasn't it them who provided that death threat about Equestria Girls?

I don't know we can't just all get along and just enjoy instead of criticize...

There's too much thought surrounding the idea of hate. I think we all need to step out of that bubble and stop thinking about it, It's not going to solve how other people think. Especially, if they're arrogant.

Bronies that hate Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, and their favourite character out of the mane 6 is Twilight Sparkle

The bronies who judge the show harshly and sometimes forget it's a show for little girls. Also those who make disgusting pictures including r34 ones. Yuck.

I don't like the kind who act like the writers don't know what their doing and feel the need to protest everything they disagree with about the show. This isn't a freaking political campaign! It's a show about friendship with a lot of valuable life lessons! Also the writers don't need your help with "writing" episode content because their the millionaires and not you! I also can't stand bronies who dis gen 1 because that's where it all started and without gen 1 you wouldn't have friendship is magic.

The ones who scream, "I'm leaving the fandom", every time something happens.

Or, how the show is going downhill, and that it isn't as good as it used to be.

So, I suppose I do not enjoy overreacting bronies.

Prepare yourselves for a mediocre list of bronies (or pegasisters, whatever your prefference) that I bitterly despise....

And before I start my "vent" I should mention that, no I actually don't mind or care about cloppers (so long as they aren't hurting anyone with it). I mean sure it's not something I'm into and I don't much like the idea of it, but who are we to judge? There are plenty of worse things they could be doing..... However these bronies are the ones I actually dislike:

  • Bronies that are constantly seeking attention (particularly the ones that are up in peoples faces and, incidentally are the ones who end making people hate the fandom).
  • Hypocritical bronies, the ones that preach "love and tolerance" but rarely ever actually tolerate haters....
  • Condescending bronies, the ones that believe that they're better than you because they watch a show about ponies. Note: this also applies to just about every other fandom.
  • Outrageous Rule 34 bronies, we have all come across one at some point - posting obscene pony pictures and art where it isn't appropriate. For what it's worth, these aren't the same as harmless cloppers that keep to themselves about it.
  • Bronies that forget the show is made for little girls.... I think you know what I mean by this one, there is a reason why bronies exist, because we happen to like a show that isn't convential for it's target demographic. Hasbro shouldn't have to change the show just because the bronies think they should.....

Sorry for the rather long vent everypony, just trying to make a point. happy.png

To be honest, a vast majority them. I prefer the ones that keep it to themselves and don't overreact on every little thing that happens in the fandom. I don't get into analyzing the show either, I just watch it and take it for what it is. Then you have the ones who post ponies, use the cathphrases in conversations, and those are the ones who annoy me the most. Complain about it and be dramatic all you want, just don't expect me to pay attention to you.

I'm here on the forums for some of the people, not all of them, and I'm definitely not here for the ponies.

The bronies that give us a bad reputation, when they are promoting ponies to people who can't stand them or the oppressive bronies that will stay on a certain person and not leave them alone until they accept ponies into their life. I find it pretty sickening and annoying.

I dislike Bronies who hate on other Bronies because they have 'different' tastes, and the ones who spam ponies everywhere. It's not going to make people like MLP more, in fact it'll probably strengthen their hatred towards it.

I don't really like the "evangelicals" either, or the ones who shove ponies in people's faces just to troll. I agree that it does give the fandom a bad name, and is probably the biggest thing that makes people think bronies are annoying.

Aaaaand sadly, I hate to admit I seem to be drifting into that a little myself, and I really feel guilty about it when I catch myself. I guess it's from a lack of fellow fans to actually interact with combined with the excitement of actually having something to be a fan of, but I really need to learn to stop myself.

I completely agree. But I'm not sure what you meant by using catchphrases.... I should admit that I have quite a bad habit of using "everypony" etc. when really I shouldn't. Does that count?
